Vintage Travel

Positive experience: Our first time using Vintage travel, we booked a villa in Mallorca. The main positives - the house information folder had a lot of information in it and extra information had been printed out regarding what was going on in the local area during our stay. - I did feel the villa rep did her best to resolve the issues we had. First impression: The villa arrival time was from 4pm onwards. We arrived at 6.10pm after 7 hours of travelling to find the cleaners were still there. They didn’t look too happy to see us and said hello but no effort to communicate anything to us. I managed to find out from them it was going to be another 30 minutes so we sat and waited in the garden in 30 plus degree heat whilst they finished and mopped the floors. Their finish time was 6.40pm. I am attaching photos of what the kitchen looked like when I first walked into it, this was cleaned up before they left but it was not the best first impression. We complained about this to the villa rep who did apologise more than once and we were given several reasons as to why they were still there including the cleaners were short staffed, their car had broken down and finally that they had mis read our flight time and were expecting us to arrive later. We had booked a 9 seater vehicle to transfer us to the villa from the airport. On arrival the entrance to the property Ca’n Xaloc is quite narrow and the cleaner’s car was blocking some of the driveway meaning it took the taxi around ten minutes to manoeuvre out again and he didn’t sound happy. The next day we had an email from the taxi company cancelling our pre booked return airport transfer due to their problem exiting the driveway meaning we had to find and book another company during our holiday. I feel that if the cleaners had left by 4pm this would not have happened. General: The 7th day of our 2 week holiday was the first day we had no villa related visitors to the property after we requested a bit more privacy. There is no buzzer at the driveway and if we were in the garden people would just appear round the back of the house. This was gardeners for up to 2 hours often talking loudly to each other and on their phones near the house, someone else to fix garden sprinklers (2 hours), the cleaners turned up twice during the week when we were expecting them once, a water tanker bringing water to the house (2 hours). I appreciate the property needs to be maintained but at that point it was feeling more like a hotel than a private villa with all the people coming and going. We did ask for this to be reduced and it was better during the second week. The house inside was ok but could do with some updating maybe, the pool area is nice and the kids enjoyed the pool it but probably needs some maintenance fairly soon as some of the paving is cracked and coming away and the mosaic tiles in the pool are falling off which is just a cosmetic issue but it’s starting to look a bit scruffy. The house alarm was out of order if you are concerned about security and looked like it may have been like that for some time. We did have a nice holiday at the villa overall, however feel there is room for improvement.

Negative experience: Property was supposedly 5 bedrooms but one bedroom had a partial wall only so you could hear EVERYTHING in the next room. It had an 8 inch gap between the two bedrooms from the ceiling to the top of the shared wall. You could even hear it when people turned over at night !!! They MUST have known about this. Did not even offer an apology. Very poor. When I asked about this, I was told I should have taken a 6 bedroom property!! I imagine I won't be the first person to have complained about this as I noted that quite a few pages were removed from the 'Visitor book'. I wish I'd read the one star reviews first - seems the properties are not vetted.

Fantastic experience: Our 3rd time booking with Vintage Travel and it certainly wont be out last. Had a fantastic fault free holiday in Andalucia in El Huertecillo Villa, a very well looked after and cared for villa in a jaw dropping location. Georgina was on hand to give us information on where we were travelling and everything was perfect. Thank you and we will definitely book another villa with Vintage without hesitation . 100% recommended.

Negative experience: We stayed at Lou Cavel, in Southwest France. Honestly, this was the worst holiday we have ever experienced. We were expected to clear bat droppings from the game rooms daily and when we complained to Vintage holidays, was sold it's a rural life location. The area was full of wasps and hornets, and we could not use the pool with our children. Planned to stay 1 week and went home after 3 days as we could not use any of the villa's facilities. We have been going France since I was a child and seen this amount of wasps! If this was due to cutting the fields then our week is a date that you should not be selling! The Villa was very unclean, with spiders and other bugs everywhere, I felt like I was camping! The sheets on the beds and all towels were all very old! My daughter sheets were well over 15 years old as they would have belonged to the owners son being a lion king theme and our sheets were a different colour inside when I tock them off when we left for home, I’m sorry but a luxury villa should be updating bedding regularly in my view! In the photos the villa looks stunning but a very different story when you get there! This villa needs some work to get to a standard that would be classed as luxury! Vintage Holiday refused to compensate us and I would never use them again.

Negative experience: Atrocious holiday in France with expensive accommodation filled with black shield bugs. We left after 3 days, as soon as we realised these bugs were not going to go anywhere. The company wouldn't refund but we got our money back from the credit card company. The House Manager was rude and delivered awful customer service. He literally said: "you're ruining my bank holiday weekend!" Because we called him about these bugs. I spoke to the MD of Vintage Travel who basically was trying to get us to stay despite feeling my skin crawling the entire time. Look at the pics. These bugs were everywhere and it smelled musty in the accomodation. It's a shame as I had been their customer since 2016. We had to submit a charge back with our credit and company and that's the only way we were refunded. Awful experience! Ruined our biggest holiday of the year!

Fantastic experience: Exceptionally well organised from start to finish. Had a week in an area I last visited 35 years ago. Amazing improvements. Beautiful, well equipped villa.. absolutely perfect for our needs. Great welcome pack and the owner, who lives next door, showed us around and explained everything. The weather wasn't the best at the start of the week but we explored this fabulous area and couldn't recommend highly enough. Polite, kind people. Excellent prices, parking free virtually everywhere. No crowds, just a lovely atmosphere. Northern Portugal. Give it a try! Thank you Vintage for a top class service!

Positive experience: We have used Vintage on and off over many years. The information and booking process is good and the properties have always been excellent. My only hesitation in using the company in recent years is that their prices have become much less competitive as the internet has allowed access to more alternatives.

Fantastic experience: I always enjoy holidays booked with Vintage Travel, not merely because of the quality of their villas, but because in advance I appreciate the fact that their staff are knowledgeable about all the properties and so willing to provide information and friendly advice.

If you need to be given confidence all the way through the selection and booking process and travelling and being looked after when there then these are the people you need. Nothing is too much trouble , no question to silly. Simply wonderfull!!

Fantastic experience: We booked a house in Galicia, Spain overlooking the Atlantic. The pictures looked great on the website and the house lived up to these pictures in reality! Excellent quality, friendly owners, accurate description, fantastic location. Would definitely recommend Vintage Travel and would certainly look to them when booking a rental house in future!

Fantastic experience: Vintage are an exceptional travel company, seeking to give a personal insight for all their clients. A friendly and genuinely interested sales person will listen and tease out your holiday requirements while giving the benefit of their expertise - most have travelled to their destinations and give great tips and local knowledge of the holiday towns and villages. If you book online they call to confirm and often have a tip on the best local attractions; be it a beach, cafe or restaurants.

Fantastic experience: Very easy to book. Fabulous villa in Umbria, Italy. Overall experience very good and would definitely use Vintage Travel again….currently planning this years holiday and flicking through the beautiful brochure there's just too much choice!!!

Fantastic experience: 8 of us stayed at Villa Rastoni in Corfu in September 2014, arranged for us by Vintage Travel. The whole experience was great. The house, grounds and the location exactly matched the description on their website. The directions got us to the property without any fuss even late at night. The house was splendid, just what we wanted and expected - we said ‘wow’ quite a few times after we arrived. Stephanie, our local contact, was charming and helpful with contacts and recommendations. She went way beyond the call of duty when we needed to track down a parcel sent to us from the UK. The travel pack from VT was an unexpected bonus and helpful. Rastoni was a recommendation from VT. Being able to speak to calm, intelligent, knowledgeable staff to whom we could explain what we wanted and who made sensible recommendations from their personal experience was valuable and ultimately proved very successful. VT has had two bookings from us and on both occasions they have effortlessly recommended us wonderful places to stay. They will be our first port of call when we are next planning a Mediterranean villa holiday. Excellent overall.

Negative experience: We had booked a previous holiday with Vintage which was flawless. Unfortunately, this time we booked a villa on their website, only to be told that the booking had to be cancelled. This was very disappointing and left us out of pocket for cancelling flights. The explanation that was given was that the villa was being advertised on their website but the booking had to be made through a third party. This should be made clear on their website. If the villa availability on their web page is not accurate then the whole web based booking system needs to be reviewed.

Fantastic experience: Our second Andalusian holiday with Vintage Travel, first time to Orgiva (2016) and this time in El Gastor (2018). There is nothing to fault with this company. The online brochure is extremely accurate in terms of the descriptions of holiday villas. The booking process is nice and easy, us opting to do this over the phone instead of totally online. Pre-holiday document pack is really useful with very detailed and accurate travel directions, luggage tags and even liquid bags for airport security. Vintage Travel chose 'Helle Hollis' rental cars for our booking and this company was better than the more well known rental car brands, with a very personal service, great and almost new car and timely pick-up and drop-off to the airport. Our holiday villa was perfect, exactly as described and absolutely nothing to fault. Georgina, Vintage Travel's local rep, visited us on the first day with some great advice and local knowledge and was available by phone throughout the stay to provide on-spec advice. We booked everything through Vintage Travel, including travel insurance and car rental just not the flights, and everything was executed perfectly. We had an absolutely fantastic holiday. We have recommended Vintage Travel to our friends and family and will definitely be booking with them for 2019. Andrew, Sharon and Luke.

Fantastic experience: We have just returned from a week at Soulages, St Andre de Najac in France. The information pack and help with queries we received from Vintage Travel was excellent and we have been on many villa holidays. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Negative experience: Don't rely on the photo's!! We booked what we thought was a private luxury villa. Villa Mastiha in Lefkada. The pictures made it look beautiful, clean and standing on it's own. Our experience however, was extremely disappointing. The villa was along an unmade track and was surrounded by two other villas, with more above. The furniture was dated and very uncomfortable, some of it was broken, the sofas and beds were awful and I have suffered with a bad back since our holiday. The oven was dirty and the door was broken, as was the seal, the extractor fan literally pulled pieces of the wall out when it was pulled out to use. The dishwasher was dirty. The sinks, shower and bbq were unclean, there were cobwebs on the walls. The chopping board was so old pieces were falling off it and it was filthy. Much of the crockery was chipped. The outdoor infinity pool had dirty brown marks around the edge and had unsightly repairs on the steps and the bottom of the pool. The pool towels and kitchen towels weren't changed in two weeks, I washed them myself. The outdoor shower was used as storage for cleaning items and the hosepipe was on the floor in front of the shower. We had no cleaners in the property all the time we were there. The elderly neighbour came when I complained and swept the old ashes from the bbq and wiped two sinks (not very well) The toilets weren't cleaned at all. The neighbour appeared at random times, usually when I was undressing and as the bedroom was on the lower floor, it was embarrassing. I complained to Vintage Travel while we were at the villa and they sent the local rep, who in turn sent the neighbour, who did very little. I wrote to Vintage Travel on our return and they apologised profusely four times and offered us £155 off when we next booked with them!! We paid a lot of money for a luxury, private holiday, but didn't get what we expected, as the photographs were obviously taken many years ago. We won't be using Vintage Travel again, they aren't interested in customer satisfaction. I felt insulted by their offer and I wrote to them declining it, I haven't heard from them again. I hope they make the owner update the villa for people visiting in future.

Fantastic experience: Used this company a few times now. The main reasons I use them now is ease of booking and security. I have often booked direct with villa owners and have had that nagging doubt that all will be as described when we arrive. Using VT eliminates this fear. The villas we have hired have always been beautiful and I've loved the extra touches like basic foods and toiletries left for our use which is not the same as some other villa rental companies.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely top notch. Very easy to book online and if any problems there is someone on the other end of the phone to solve it for you. Ca Na Reieta in Pollença is idyllic if you want to keep yourself to yourself but ideally located for a 5 minute drive or 20 minute stroll into the town. Wendy, Area Rep for Vintage, is a lovely lady and very knowledgable about the area

Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff

Negative experience: Infinity View Brittany Lovely position but house NOT suitable for 10 and has many problems. I cannot recommend it. No stars but site allows a minimum of one so that is what it gets. Vintage travel unwilling to consider sensible compensation for crummy accommodation. Very poor customer service
