Negative experience: I recently booked a luxury holiday to Sri Lanka and the Maldives for my family (3 persons) through Affordable Luxury Travels, at a cost of £30,000. We were assured by Daniel Taylor that our trip would feature world-class facilities and stays in 7-star resorts. Regrettably, our experience in Sri Lanka did not align with these promises. Contrary to the assurance of 5-star accommodations, we were placed in substandard hotels, including properties in Negombo, Jetwing St. Andrews, and Cinnamon Hotel in Colombo. These were far below the expected luxury standards, with broken commode, and the windows to the property would not shut properly which attracted lots of flies and insects into my room resulting in severely diminishing the quality of our holiday. Additionally, we were misinformed about the availability of business class on our flight from Sri Lanka to the Maldives. Upon arrival, we discovered that business class was available, necessitating additional payment for the upgrade despite the substantial sum already paid for the holiday. Our objective was to enjoy a luxurious, relaxing family holiday, which was compromised by unmet promises and poor service. When we raised these issues during the trip, we were told that nothing could be done since payment had already been made. This response reflects a lack of accountability and professionalism. I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Daniel Taylor and Affordable Luxury Travels. The experience did not meet the expectations set by the agency, and I caution others to thoroughly evaluate their options before booking with this company.'

Fantastic experience: We have just returned from an amazing time in Kerala. From the initial pick up at the airport, our tour driver /guide Dileep looked after us extremely well and was able to suggest and adjust our itinerary timings to get the best of our experience. All the hotels were well situated and the staff welcoming and helpful. The food was varied, authentic and very tasty. There was a relaxed pace to the tour whilst still getting a opportunity for plenty of sightseeing

Negative experience: Extremely poor. We've been working with Jazz. He was very responsive when we were booking. We paid the deposit. Then a much cheaper option became available from another vendor. I asked Jazz if they'd match it and his responsiveness has dropped from without a couple of hours to more than a couple of weeks, between emails. Quite disappointed. I asked for my deposit back because they'd effectively stopped communicating with me. They initially said they would refund it, then didn't. I asked my credit card to overturn it, and they've been telling me that they want to give me my money back whilst arguing with my credit card company to keep it. Overall, an extremely dishonest organisation.

Fantastic experience: Great Holiday in Kerala Well organized holiday from start to finish. Jazz was very knowledgeable and tailored our trip to suit our needs. Great range of hotels and Luxury resorts which enabled us to have a great experience in Kerala, Guides and drivers were great and we were supported at all stages as we travelled. Jazz listen to what we require on a holiday, make suitable recommendations or alternatives if first choice not available. Dietary requirements sent to all hotels before hand by local representatives. We were extremely pleased with the local representative in Kerala, who checked by phone several times during our tour to ensure that everything was going well.The information sent via the internet app and the printed copy prior to departure was excellent. Excellent pre-travel advice and preparation were provided and the itinerary was excellent, along with a fantastic driver and tour guide in Kerala. It represents excellent value for money. Kerala is definitely a place we will return to in the future

Fantastic experience: Kerala Tour with Affordable Luxury Travel Kerala Holiday Exceeded our expectations in every way. We both have just returned from a Kerala holiday booked with Daniel from ALT. After booking I changed my mind on some hotels and even a flight change, nothing was too much trouble , he went above and beyond. I would 100% recommend this company , it was luxury and the tour we did was incredible.Our Driver Dilip who collected us from the airport was just the most kind and caring man who listened to what we were interested in and planned our days for lunches etc accordingly. The only days we were not with him were after the drop off in Cochin as we stayed 3 nights in the Fragrant Nature Hotel, which was a wonderful hotel and then we finished at the Marari Beach Hotel for 3 nights , absolutely fantastic. Dilip made the touring and sightseeing so interesting, he is so very knowledgeable and we learnt and experienced so much, this holiday exceeded every expectation.Anyone who is thinking about this type of holiday , I say just do it. The Kerala people are probably the most genuinely friendly, smiley and caring we have come across. They cannot do enough for you. Every hotel was so good and each and every one so very different giving you time, sights, sounds of areas. Never heard such loud crickets . The hotels were all wonderful as were the staff. Huge thanks to everyone involved. We will be back.

We have visited Kochi (Brunton Boatyard) , Munnar (fragrant nature) Thekkady (spice village) Alleppey (blue Jelly houseboat) Kollam and Kovalam (both Leela Hotels) We have been eating evening meals and breakfast at all our hotels and all the meals have been wonderful. most importantly we have been treated so kindly by helpful and friendly staff everywhere and in particular had the most brilliant driver who has gone above and beyond to ensure we were safe and saw everything we needed A great trip and I will try my best to use this company again

All hotels have been superb, but for different reasons. Our guide and driver Dileep proved very knowledgable regarding flora and fauna and quite expert at Keralean birds. We’ve loved our holiday and would recommend to anyone.

We were met at the airport by our driver and we were well looked after by him for the duration of the trip. The hotels selected for us were beautiful. Fantastic experience: We have recently returned from the ‘Enchanting Kerala Tour’ with an itinerary set up with Daniel who couldn’t have been more helpful. It allowed for a good mix of tour and rest time which suited us. Ajeesh, our driver, collected us from the airport and was with us throughout. We felt safe with him, and he was always on hand throughout the trip. He was always ready to make any adjustments to the trip with things we saw, or he suggested. Thomas our tour manager met with us and made sure to keep in touch via WhatsApp to ensure there were no problems during our stay. The recommended hotels were wonderful and met all our expectation and beyond. I think our favourite being “Spice Village” at Thekkedy. Another highlight was the Blue Jelly cruise and night on a houseboat. I’m sure that we will use Affordable Luxury Travel again and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Fantastic experience: Everyone involved at Affordable Luxury Travel seems to take a real pride in their job and cannot do enough for you. From explaining and tailoring the original programme on enquiry right up asking how our trip home went. They have a huge amount of knowledge about Kerela and put together a superb programme that enabled us to experience this amazing region. After a great and interesting tour of Cochi, we were escorted by our excellent driver/ guide Krishna. He made our trip both easy and fun; nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic experience: Wow! This trip really lived up to our expectations and more. From the start, Tony was really helpful when booking the holiday and changing the flights to our local airport. Meeting Thomas, the travel rep, at our first destination gave us confidence that we had a local contact if needed… but it was only needed to say ‘thank you’! The itinerary really immersed us in to the sights of Kerala at a comfortable pace and the hotels were superb with welcoming staff. Fantastic experience: We used Affordable Luxury Travel to book our private tour in Kerala. Daniel made the booking process very easy and we were not disappointed when visiting a new part of India. Kerala lived up to expectations and the hotels booked by the company were lovely and we had a delightful driver for the duration of the trip. The local rep Thomas was also very helpful and kept in touch with us. We would definitely use the company again but would also highly recommend a visit to this beautiful and interesting part of India.

Fantastic experience: We have recently returned from a two and a half week tour of India with Affordable Luxury and thoroughly recommend the company. All the hotels were excellent and all transfers, transport and trips were first class. We did not need to worry about a thing, as all our needs were catered for with professionalism and the utmost courtesy. It was a fabulous experience throughout with a great tour of the Golden Triangle with a dedicated driver at our disposal for the whole trip and informed, English-speaking guides who were committed to entertaining us and providing the best possible service to us. All the hotels throughout the tour were top drawer, providing marvellous food and the naturalists in the two eco-hotels we stayed at in Kerala were particularly interesting and engaging. Negative experience: Terrible company. I’ve paid in full for a dream holiday. They’ve changed. My accom 3 times. They asked me to move to a hotel 40 mins out of New York. I should be staying in central New York. They said the hotel was closed for renovations. I rang the hotel and they denied this saying Xmas time is their busiest time of year. They also have rooms available to rent for the time I’m in New York. This company lies to you. They also changed my airport after I’d purchased train tickets. They also haven’t provided me with my flight details. Hotel vouchers American train tickets and paid for trips despite the balance being paid in full ages ago. I’ve tried to speak to people there and they are rude. Do not use this company avoid avoid avoid.

Fantastic experience: Certainly a holiday of a lifetime! Went in October 2023 for a 2 week tour of Kerala. Hotels absolutely superb, each had its own beauty and character with wonderful food. Our driver Anil was great with excellent English, knowledgeable, very safe driving and looked after us very well. Thomas, our local Affordable Luxury Travel contact in Kerala was brilliant, in almost daily text contact to check everything to our liking and made an enormous effort on a stormy day to come and meet us in Kochi to welcome us. Kerala itself was beautiful with so much to see and such variety in landscape, flora and fauna. Would love to travel again with this company and have recommended this trip to many friends.

From start to finish out trip was excellent, and it had everything we could wish for; Culture, Tea, Wildlife, Backwaters & Beaches. All were promised and Affordable Luxury Travel delivered on all fronts. What made the entire trip most special was our entertaining, friendly, and generous driver who was a real friend during our trip. Negative experience: The initial booking process was straightforward, staff were very quick to get back to us. Once payment was made things slowed down and information was held back on tour details. We were asked to leave a review multiple times PRIOR to the trip taking place. One of the pre-booked excursions was not in line with what we booked. We had a very good full-day itinerary, however, it turned out to be a mistery tour, even venturing into a questionable part of another country (Laos). The entire thing was a scam and a hussle aimed to get you to pay more at each step for "upgrades" OR to pay one of the tour guides to drive you back for 5 hours at the previously agreed time. My husband and I raised this with the ALT operators multiple times. The response and explanation that we received was sub-par. They tried to rely on excuses of contract / booking clauses that did not even relate to our tour. It's quite evident that ALT DO NOT perform any due diligence on the subproviders and end service that they receive. The biggest issue I have with this is that you pay a premium and it appears that ALT do not even know where you are going. I tried to call the emergency line but they hung up. I previously requested the tour operators info so I could perform my own research which I didn’t get back however, now I have their details a very low level search for this tour route/guide shows that they have form for this type of hustle, leaving people to either sit out and wait in the heat for a few hours or pay more for stops/attractions that are not planned in place of what they had booked. "Attractions" included cornering tourists to pay to enter a village with inhumane practices (Long Neck Village). Booking service was fine just wouldn't trust ALT to provide any transparency.

Fantastic experience: When booking Enchanting Kerala I was immediately impressed with the help and service received from Sean. Departure day arrives and we are met at Kochi airport by Anil who was our fantastic driver and looked after us for 2 weeks, taking us around this most beautiful State. It was the perfect Tour - city, hill stations, backwaters and beach. Everyone we met was so friendly and we would recommend this trip if you want to experience Keralan scenery and culture whilst enjoying a rest in amazing hotels.

Fantastic experience: We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in India. We completed Golden Triisngle which I have reviewed separately. Then moved onto Kerala, on arrival I received a message from Pratheesh the ground agent who stayed in contact with me the whole time and even checked I got back to UK safely. We stayed at two sites in Kerala Coconut Lagoon and Marari Beach resort both amazing sites using local traditions in their room layouts. The rooms are so comfortable. Both these sites have the most incredible staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We also went to Alleppey and stayed on a houseboat. What a fantastic experience the staff on the boat were excellent. The tranquility and peaceful surroundings made for a wonderful holiday experience. I would highly recommend Pratheesh and his professional team from AFL.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from an 11 day trip in India with my partner and we’re both super happy with the overall experience! Amazing service throughout the holiday and really organised! Drivers were there on the dot, tour guides were super informative. The manager, Thomas, also came to our hotel to introduce himself to us and explained he would help with any requests we had throughout the trip which we felt was a great gesture! Fantastic experience: Just back from a Thailand holiday and have to say how impressed I was with the organisation and service received by ALT. We didn't speak to them during our holiday because we didn't need to - every single thing ran like clockwork and the quality of everything from the hotels to the transfer was fantastic. After having bad experiences in the past with multi-centre holidays this was a joy and I can't wait to book the next one!

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend alt as a travel company. The booking process was easy and flexible. The hotels were of a high standard and our driver Dileep was amazing. We particularly appreciated the flexibility while in India to arrange extra bird watching trips and sourcing excellent guides. Positive experience: If you are booking a holiday with ALT, try and deal with a gentleman called Patrick. He has helped me constantly on certain issues and has been fantastic throughout the whole process.

Positive experience: We booked our honeymoon to Kerala to travel just after christmas last year and Jazz was very responsive in organising a wonderful trip. There were a few changes to our hotels after payment which we were not expecting but overall worked in the end. When in Kerela we were looked after very well with Tomas our company contact in Kerala who was regularly in touch with us. However, Dilip our driver made our trip the most memorable! He was very accomodating and gave us a very local and personalised tour and went out of his way to make sure we were having a great time. His local knowledge and contacts were impressive. Will book with AFL in the future :)

Negative experience: I booked 2 holidays with these for a party of 7. I paid the deposit, was put on a payment plan, but at no point was told if the payment plan wasn't paid on said dates, the holiday would be canceled or price increased. I contacted these a few month's after booking to be told the price has increased, I asked to change the dates and was sent an itinerary. I was happy with that but the advisor who I'd been speaking to was on annua leave, so I couldn't rearrange. Nobody will help you unless it's the person who did the booking. The person who did the booking contacted me when she was back off annual leave, to tell me she had good news, they could now do the original holiday for the original price, but we as a group decided to go ahead with the later date. I was then told that wasn't possible because they can now do the holiday for the original price. Obviously at this point I was not happy, a good few weeks down the line and I'm still no further forward, I've spoke to a manager who passed the case onto another advisor called Max, who was rude when I said I couldn't pay the £1000 deposit he was requesting. I refused to pay the deposit as he wasn't willing to send me a new itinerary to support the supposedly price increase. I requested a call from a manager to be refused as they don't deal with bookings. I've sent emails and had no response. It's fair to say, I would not, and will not recommend this company.

Fantastic experience: Louise planned the perfect Japan holiday for us. It took a bit of time and several phone calls, but she worked on it until it was exactly what we wanted. We visited four cities (Tokyo, Beppu, Ossaka and Kyoto) in two weeks. The accommodation was perfect for us: Very nice hotels, centrally located. A representative met us at the airport with our train card, a map of Tokyo and pointed us in the right direction. It was the perfect combination of guidance and freedom to do exactly what we wanted when we wanted. It's really hard to say what was best, but the guided day trip to Mount Fuji ranks high. Fantastic experience: Alternative Luxury Travel organised a very good tour for us in Kerala. All the staff were very friendly and responsive to our needs. The tour had a variety of marvellous experiences, including cultural visits to a Kathakali dance event and a martial arts display. Both were very interesting and we enjoyed them immensely. We were taken to see stunning landscapes and wildlife in the Munnar region and we will never forget the very cute goats and monkeys! The visit to The Planters House Spice plantation was really informative about spice growing. The spices and coffee beans are exceptional. In Thekkady we we treated like royalty on the house boat trip around the lakes and waterways. The food was extraordinarily tasty too. Our lovely driver was very helpful and I thank him for giving us lots of really interesting information about the places we visited. He was very good company and helped to make our trip one that we will never forget.

Fantastic experience: We arranged the tour to explore Kerala following 2 weddings that we attended. We started the trip from our hotel in Varkala and we were picked up by our assigned driver Anil, who was amazing throughout the trip. The car was very comfortable and we were provided with little treats for the journey. Our first stop was a one night stay on a houseboat in Alleppey, which was fab. We then moved on to spend 2 nights in Thekkady followed by 2 further nights in Munnar before returning to Kochi for 1 night and our flight back to the UK. We had various planned activities every day. We visited national parks, local shows, the tea plantation museum and had a very nice massage in Thekkady. It was a busy trip but we absolutely enjoyed every minute. We travelled with my sister and her husband and they had a separate car. We were all so impressed by the trip and particularly enjoyed the time we spent in the car with our drivers. Anil was an excellent driver and guide and he really made the trip extra special, stopping at bakeries en route so we could taste the local food, we would not hesitate to recommend affordable luxury and being allocated a driver to help you get the most out of the trip.

Fantastic experience: “Kerala Adventure Exceeded All Expectations ” All the stressful bureaucracy involved in getting our visas to travel & the missed connection with our flight was not the easiest start to this adventure. However, the moment we arrived in Kochi & greeted by our lovely smiley driver we knew that it was going to be worth it. We checked in at our first hotel at 5am & He rescheduled our tour for later that afternoon so we could sleep. The attention to detail was amazing as he got to know what we were interested in and he took time & consideration to make everyday special. All the 5 hotels we stayed at were excellent both in quality and location. All the way through the holiday we were contacted by ALT via WhatsApp to check we were happy. Exceeded our expectations and we would 100% recommend. We will certainly be looking at other locations for future holidays. We both agreed that it was the most relaxing & enjoyable adventure we had ever had.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to record what a fabulous holiday we had with AFL - we did the 9 day Kerala Tour with an extension in Goa. All hotels were first rate and I wouldn’t hesitate to use again. We usually always do independent bookings, which is often a big hassle, and it was just perfect when we had a driver waiting for us to arrange our airport transfers and hotel to hotel on the tour. Fantastic experience: Just returned from a fabulous holiday in the Maldives arranged by Luxury Affordable travel. I cannot fault the excellent service I received by their agent Alex Rawal. I had to change the trip date due to a personal illness, later wanting to change location due to another personal issue. Negative experience: Felt let down after booking a Vietnam/Cambodia holiday by the London office . Make sure you have a the necessary visas as we had to pay $140 to return to Vietnam. Office said they emailed us and phoned but we had no record, no voicemail. Anna in Vietnam saved the day for us!
