Negative experience: Terrible and very unprofessional. Had a lovely initial call and was told to give them some time to send an itinerary and never heard from them again. I tried calling and emailing but never received a response. It's been three months and now I'm scrambling to plan my honeymoon last minute. Nightmare.

Fantastic experience: We have traveled with Black Tomato on two separate holidays, Vietnam in 2023 and Japan in 2024. Each trip was flawless. We are very experienced travelers who have been around the world many times. But I must admit, Black Tomato's level of service is above and beyond anything we have experienced in the past. And yes, we've traveled with a number of "luxury travel" providers. For Vietnam and Japan, we worked with an experienced travel planner who tailored the trip to our preferences. In Vietnam, there were one or two hiccups, but they were resolved immediately. From that trip, Black Tomato was able to tailor our Japan trip even better. Negative experience: Really poor customer service worst to respond, poor communication. No point being a premium agency if you don't call your customers back

Negative experience: I enquired for a holiday in Australia; once I got the hotels names I double checked the hotels websites and discovered the prices were much lower than those quoted to me. The difference was huge: per person I was told it would be over £5000 per person for a week, which included hotel and 4 excursions. When I asked for a breakdown of costs, I was told it is. It their policy to disclose the full breakdown, but the hotels totalled about £1400 per person. I feel it was a major rip off, as no private excursion could justify that price.

Fantastic experience: Black Tomato provided us with thoughtful, attentive and impeccable planning, implementation, and on-the-ground support for our recent trip to Kenya and Tanzania--our first trip to Africa. Our planner, Luca, asked a lot of question over several phone calls, and listened and thus planned a truly memorable itinerary that included safaris at Cottars 1920, wilderness drives and the opportunity to engage with Maasai and Sambura in Ol Lentille, and rounded it off with marvelously relaxing and indulgent "wind down" time at Xanadu in Zanzibar. where we enjoyed a sunset sail on a dhow, as well as a guided historical tour and shopping time in Stone Town. Black Tomato also took care of so many logistical details, eg, processing our Kenyan visas for us. At all three quite different places we stayed, the level of amenities and personal service was superior. Really first rate. Black Tomato provided us with greeters and an on-the-ground point person, who checked in regularly and met a few requests, as well as provided useful information as we needed it. In the run-up to the trip, we had loads of questions, always graciously addressed by our knowledgeable planner. We are in our early 70s, and while active and healthy, we did perhaps have more questions than some might; the planning yielded a perfect two weeks with much activity yet all of it discretionary, such that we chose when to skip a safari in lieu of pool time and welcome massages! Along the way, we were shown hospitality at the properties, all of which noted we were Black Tomato clients. The trip was marked by many Black Tomato grace notes. The properties were exclusive, quietly social vs overly populous. For instance, on our safaris with Cottars, we saw few if any other jeeps, and this made for a lasting and deeply memorable experience. The chefs in all instances were first rate. Without hesitation, we'll have Black Tomato plan our next adventure.

Fantastic experience: We've just returned from our amazing honeymoon in Cambodia and Vietnam. Black Tomato were superb throughout the whole process. The service is second to none! Everything was planned perfectly - I have a nut allergy and absolutely all staff throughout the trip were made aware. Our guides were excellent. Would highly recommend Black Tomato for any special occasion trips you have in mind.
Fantastic experience: Luca at Black Tomato put together an incredible itinerary for my trip to Zambia and I had an amazing time. Each camp and lodge was exactly what I had hoped for -- beautiful settings, emphasis on sustainability and being close to nature, and gracious and knowledgeable staff and guides. This was truly the trip of a lifetime, although I suspect I will be making a return visit to Zambia in the not too distant future. I cannot recommend Black Tomato more highly and I will definitely use them again for my next adventure!

Fantastic experience: We have used BT for 2 trips- one was a private trip to Peru and the other for a family getaway to Italy. Both trips were beyond our expectations. Carly was amazing to work with and really did a great job customizing the activities and pace to our interests. On our Italy trip we had a variety of ages and the mix of agenda items was spot-on. My trip to Cuba was perfectly curated to include exactly the types of activities my husband and I are interested in. Rob not only took the time to "interview" me on our hopes for the trip but then iterated the trip several times through emails to hit just the right cadence and variety. We spent private time with dancers, artists, and musicians in addition to experiencing wonderful walking tours and hikes. The selection of boutique hotels and top level restaurants was spot on. Fantastic experience: My husband and I used Black Tomato for our honeymoon, and we couldn't be happier with our decision! Luca Fella put together an incredible trip around Italy for us, complete with amazing accommodations and transportation. From the minute we stepped off the plane, until we were dropped off at the airport again 10 days later, every hour of our trip was so beautifully organized and stress free. Our favorite part of the trip was the activities Luca coordinated for us, as we would have never found them on our own. We toured a lemon grove and made limoncello in Amalfi, went truffle hunting in the Tuscan countryside, toured wineries in Tuscany, had an amazing private cooking class in Florence, and took a private boat to Capri for a tour around the island. Everything was flawlessly organized and so easy for us, so we could just sit back and ENJOY our honeymoon without worrying about logistics. We will absolutely use Black Tomato again in the future!

Fantastic experience: I first enlisted the help of Black Tomato with narrowing the scope of where my wife & I would like to go on our honeymoon. They helped immensely deciding between very different types of trips. We ultimately settled on a safari & beach trip. Luca Fella put together an incredible trip to the Mara Triangle in Kenya and the Seychelles. Communication and payment were very easy. A month before our trip Luca ensured we had all the information necessary to obtain entry visas and up-to-date COVID entry requirements. The trip itself went off without any problems! The itinerary was incredible and my wife & I were blown away at the accommodations. I highly recommend Black Tomato for travel planning and will be using them for international travel in the future!

Fantastic experience: Black Tomato organized a wonderful walking trip in Scotland for our group of friends. Dan, our hiking guide was fantastic and fun and sorted out issues quickly as they came up. We walked through very different kinds of scenery, glens, munros, woods, riverbeds, etc. The hotels and restaurants were very good. A memorable experience.

Fantastic experience: If you truly want a vacation that is hassle free and go to places you would never find,, Use Black Tomato!.. Our travel coordinator was Alys,,, she was fantastic... we had a couple of conference calls so that she could customize our trip to Northwest Italy. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. Black Tomato arranged everything, and it was truly hassle free. They set up the boat tours on Lakes Como and Orta, Hikes in the surrounding mountains, several wine and cheese tastings, ( the tasting in La Morra was done by the owner!) . They arranged all the transportation with very professional drivers, and very nice equipment. We truffle hunted in the Alba area. Spent 3 days on the Italian riviera, They even arranged for me to drive a vintage Alfa Romero for a day of touring. Truly a first class outfit, and highly recommended. Dan from Michigan

Negative experience: Phoned to enquire about a trip to Denmark and Greenland. The girl very soon asked about budget and informed me that a week in Denmark alone would be a minimum of 5k per person, EXCLUDING flights - a fact she kept stressing. I got the impression this is a company only for the super rich and ended up feeling rather stupid for calling them. We're not averse to spending large amounts of money on holidays, and usually get our holidays tailor-made, but 10k for a week in Denmark?! Really?!?

Fantastic experience: We first found Black Tomato in 2010 and had the trip of a lifetime to South Africa, or so we thought . Every subsequent trip to places including Sri Lanka, California and this year Morocco - an amazing destination suggested by Black Tomato - have been fantastic. Black Tomato think of everything and take all the stress away. Looking forward to Australia & New Zealand in 2020. We know we are in very capable hands.
Fantastic experience: We travelled with Black Tomato as a family to Portugal in 2019 and from the initial phone call to discuss the trip to arriving at our villa I could not fault them at all. Negative experience: They asked me what my budget was, and it was 3k less than what they said the trip would go for. From then, I asked them to send me a quote so I can run it by my husband to see if we think it's worth it to spend the extra money. Black Tamato didn't even provide us with a quote because they were certain nothing could be done to accommodate a 13K budget. I was clear and very flexible with locations, dates, and open to any/all ideas to help us stay as close to budget as possible but if you tell them 16K MINIMUM is not necessarily ideal for your budget, you won't get service. Disappointing and wouldn't recommend.
Negative experience: Unfortunately I have not been anywhere with this agency. Wrote to them they came back very excited and then....nothing. I followed up, again very excited and then......nothing. I gave up, imagine if you needed then on short notice when on holiday. Risky proposition.
