Fantastic experience: An amazing trip to Ant's Nest in the Waterberg organized brilliantly by Olwyn and the team! Amazing horses, amazing fast canters, wonderful food, staff and animals. I had a really wonderful time beginning to end, and it was tough to leave. From beginning to end, Olwyn and the team did a great job and were very accomodating. I couldn't recommend In the Saddle and Ant's Nest more highly!

Fantastic experience: Truly fantastic week in Moolmanshoek. All aspects were excellent from In The Saddle suggesting it - 10th holiday with them and all have been perfect for us as a group of 10 (average age now 67!) to arriving there and having one of the best riding holidays. Fantastic experience: I have been on four In the Saddle Holidays and counting. I love this company, I completely rely on them to only work with people who have the highest regard for their horses. When on a riding holiday there is little worse than feeling sorry for the animal you're riding - feeling that it may be unsound or overburdened. This won't happen with In the Saddle and for that reason alone, I can't wait to be back in the saddle, somewhere amazing. All the rides have been superbly organised, delivering everything the brochure promised and more.

Fantastic experience: We booked the tuli safari in Botswana (operated by Horizon horseback) and felt fully supported by Lois at in the saddle from day 1. It was our first horseback safari (3 experienced riders) and as such we had quite a lot of questions. Nothing felt like a bother to Lois and it was great to receive advice from someone who had been on this very trip! The pre trip leather booklet was a nice touch and very useful throughout the trip. We’re only sorry we all missed Lois’s pre trip call to wish us well on our travels. Lois has also provided useful advice on what sort of trips to pick next. Would 100% book with in the saddle again - and as for the trip itself - photos attached can only do it justice. Horses were so well cared for and of top quality. A real pleasure from booking right thoughout! Can’t wait for the next one.

Fantastic experience: One of the best riding holidays ever, fantastically trained Lutsatana horses, wonderful trainers whether you are a beginner or advanced there horses can cope. They are beautifully looked after and so willing and supple. I actually cried when I left and am planning the next trip back as soon as possible. There is a very nice swimming pool, great three meals a day, I stayed in a pretty house in the vineyard with one other charming girl who is now a friend from Germany originally but lives in Switzerland Annette who had only been learning to ride for a year where as I have weekly dressage lesson on my own warm blood, they catered perfectly and certainly put me through my paces. I was lucky enough to watch them training there youngsters. I honestly could not fault it for me I was in horse heaven. There was also another 8 Swiss ladies who sadly left before me onto Lisbon for a short time. Great wine Quinta Dol Rol made there at Rita the lovely owner's own vineyard and very nice it was too. Thoroughly recommend this holiday if you are horsey and looking for beautiful riding.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful trek in Sicily last week with In the Saddle. Rebecca was so helpful with everything and I’m so happy she helped me pick this particular ride. The ride was challenging but so rewarding and the hosts were wonderful. As a solo traveller, it was made even better by the lovely fellow riders on the trek. The scenery was breathtaking, food was delicious and the accommodation along the way was unique and charming. Lizzie’s cooking, endless patience and good cheer, Alex’s guidance, knowledge and kindness, the countryside and my lovely horse for the week were the highlights of a very special trip.

Fantastic experience: I have used In The Saddle for many years. They are exceptionally knowledgeable about the destinations they offer and there is always a member of staff who has been there, so they can offer first hand knowledge and information. They are always happy to answer any questions you may have, no matter how trivial you may think your question are. When you book, ITS provide detailed information about your travel arrangements and the holiday you have booked which is super useful. When I had a holiday cancelled due to Covid (back in April 2020) and nobody really knew what was going on in the world, they were very helpful, which I think is a sign of a great company.

Fantastic experience: My first riding trip through In the Saddle to Los Alamos, Spain but I've already booked my next :-) Lois was amazing as an agent, extremely knowledgeable about Los Alamos (from experience) and customer service par to none. I received a travel wallet with everything I needed and a comprehensive booklet on what to expect/take etc. Going to Los Alamos is like being accepted into the family with a warm hug. The horses are so well cared for and loved and are exceptionally fit for the Forest and Beach rides. They have exceptional skills at matching horse to rider and all horses are forward going but look after you. If you want to gallop on beaches or the firebreak, this is the trip for you! The good food and everything else is a bonus.

Fantastic experience: I booked my first all inclusive riding holiday through In The Saddle, on recommendation from several friends who have all previously been on one of their listed holidays. From my initial enquiry, through booking, paying and travelling to my destination at Tsylos Lodge in British Columbia, the process was very simple with Olwen and her team sorting everything bar my return flight to Vancouver without hiccup. Am already contemplating another trip next year to Africa.

Fantastic experience: This trip exceeded our expectations in every way possible. A ten out of ten. We were all assigned beautiful, relaxed horses. We have been able to enjoy every step of the way, cause the horses were trustworthy and relaxed. The lunches were all home made and delicious and presented to us at the most beautiful spots. The horses are well cared for , and fit for long fast canters. Riding to sun downs with stunning views each evening leave us both with memories we will never forget.

It was beyond anything we could have imagined - the Los Potreros Estancia was gorgeous, the people were phenomenal and went out of their way to make sure we were being spoiled rotten! The food (and wine!) was fabulous, and the riding was absolutely spectacular!! We were so sad to leave our hosts, Kevin & Georgia and their amazing team - and we can't wait to go back - it was a VERY SPECIAL trip. Memories to last a lifetime.

Fantastic experience: I did the South African Explorer Two Holiday in April 2024. It was a fab trip - the horses were lovely and well cared for. The accommodation was comfortable and clean even though it was in the middle of the reserves and far from anywhere. The food was great (I am a veggie). The riding was good with lots of canters in South Africa (less in Botswana as it is quite rocky around the Treehouse Camp). We did some small, easy lines of jumps (small logs) which were optional. We saw loads of animals and could get very close to them as they are used to the horses - lots of giraffe, zebras, wildebeest, ostrich, Kudu and impala in South Africa. In Botswana we saw giraffe and watched a group of elephants at a watering hole and saw lots of jackals. I would definitely recommend the game drive in Botswana - we saw a pride of 6 lions, 2 separate leopards, a family of 3 cheetah and some hyena all in about 2 hours and all very close. In the Saddle make booking very easy and provide all the information you need in plenty of time. I have booked with them before and will definitely use them again.

Fantastic experience: This was my 4th visit to Monte Velho with a cheeky few days before in Lisbon, we were blessed with the weather for November. Great facilities and location along with amazing food and wine made for a much needed break . Some nice new horses this year. There was great instruction by the team who manage to pair riders and horses perfectly but not to forget the friendly trail leaders pointing out the sights . Recommend to anyone thinking of making a visit . Will be back .

Fantastic experience: My friend and I have just returned from a trek in the Sahara desert. The guides and horses were excellent and the ride was well organised and interesting. There were plenty of opportunities for cantering plus a few gallops. The roads car stayed in were authentic and some had swimming pools. It was a trip of a lifetime!

Fantastic experience: Amazing week of challenging riding in an extremely remote part of the Icelandic Highlands, collecting sheep from their summer grazing, and driving then down to lower ground to be sorted and returned to their farms of origin for the winter. This trip is not for the fainthearted or novice riders as you are spending long hours in the saddle on forward going horses over some very tricky terrain. Accommodation is comfortable but basic and you are expected to work long hours and muck in as part of the shepherding team. Having said that, the stunning scenery, remoteness of the accommodation and the black skies with fantastic aurora borealis, made this an experience that will stay with me always!

Fantastic experience: We did Panorama rides at Country hotel velani in Crete. The riding was brilliant. Personally for our first riding holiday the amount of hours were great. 2.5 - 4 hours was ideal. The terrain was very different to what we are used to In UK (which we were told to expect) so it made for a very different riding experience. We had more canters than we were expecting which was great. There were some very long fast canters which involved lots of turns and tree ducking which was absolutely thrilling.The guide Vladimir was very helpful, knowledgeable and most importantly good fun. The food was amazing, you were never left hungry. Overall the booking process was easy, we were well informed, our questions and queries answered timely. We felt very confident booking through in the saddle and would do so again in the future.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant honeymoon! Becky and her team gave us great advice to help us find exactly what we were looking for, and the booking was straightforward with helpful advice throughout. We were made to feel very welcome and at home from the moment we arrived and the staff were great in both Ants Nest and Ants Hill. Wonderful, well looked after horses and we rode every day, with each ride being different and always great fun, and lots of other activities on offer too. We saw lots of diverse wildlife and were able to get really close with the horses which was special. Would love to go back!!

I have just returned from a surprise trip to Los Alamos in Spain, Lois from In the Saddle helped my husband organise this and it was one of the best holidays I have had. Fantastic experience: I have just returned from my second horse holiday with In The Saddle and I am just as happy as the first time. The reps are knowledgeable about the trips and take care to match clients to the right type of holiday by talking to them about their goals, riding experience and preferred type of horse. Fantastic experience: A HOLIDAY OF A LIFE-TIME !!! If you want to stop the world and get off this is the holiday for you. Breath-in the fresh, pure air of the mountains. The magnificent views calm your soul - mountains as far as the eye can see, a carpet of wild alpine flowers better than any gardener could create, skylarks singing above you, eagles soaring silently on the thermals. Camping under the stars is an absolute bonus - no light-polution and the constellations feel close enough to touch. Campfire meals with your horse tethered nearby, laughter and conversation with fellow riders and your hosts. Now to the horses : they are super-fit and forward going, they have a natural fast walk. They are cared for VERY well. Lots of food, regular stops for water, hay to top-up their intake. They are well-rounded and obviously enjoy their job. The Western tack is ideal - comfy for riders and loads of layers of padding for the horses backs. These amazing horses scale near-vertical slopes and barely break-a-sweat. There are lots of opportunities for gallops over lush valleys and up shady forest trails. The guides are always in contact via walkie-talkies to ensure everyone is safe. There is a great back-up team, who work so hard and like clock-work. Tents are ready when you reach camp. Alex does all the cooking and it is tasty, wholesome food every day. Ramadan, one of the guides has the kindest, most skilful way with the horses. Wesley was back-rider/guide and ensured riders at the back received as much info as those at the front with Vasco. We felt in good hands. Vasco the owner and ride-leader is so proud of his Miyak history and guides you through his world and that of his ancestors who rode these mountains on pack horse trails back to the days of Alexander the Great. Vasco is very proud of his work and his S.O.P. (safety operations procedure). Do listen to this at the introduction evening as it is to his absolute credit. You feel safe (as are the horses) throughout this whole expedition when you are quite literally in the middle of nowhere. The rides are long, you need to be fit but the rewards are great. I wept as we rode back to the ranch. Our wonderful host and leader Vasco had arranged a welcoming committee of Miyak dancers in national costume, playing flutes and drums. One rode a white horse to greet us - all whilst waving the Macedonian flag and his horse dancing and rearing. We were 'baptized' with the flag trailing over or heads. Our horses never batted an eye at this procession and the Miyak rider then escorted us back to the ranch. We dismounted and were invited to join in with dancing whilst shouting 'hopla' as we span round! If you want to lose yourself for a week, forget your mortgage and worries and schedules - then this is the holiday for you. And YOU COULD NOT BE IN BETTER HANDS !!!! Fantastic experience: The most enjoyable week. Hotel was a perfect blend of a quiet location and complete rest by the pool after your ride. We had the 2 bed apartment which was perfect, own room and bathroom each plus kitchenette. The massage is great too! Our guide Ailsa is absolutely lovely and experienced, she matched us with the perfect horse for a relaxing ride everyday. I trusted my horse completely which makes the riding enjoyable whatever speed or terrain. She made every ride fun and unforgettable. I would go back tomorrow if I could! I will definitely be booking with " holidays in the saddle" for next year as their attention to detail is second to none, Becky is so organised and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. She made our dream holiday possible. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Since I decided that I wanted to go to the Tuli Safari it was difficult to find direct information and help for booking. Until fortunately I found In The Saddle and all came so easy. Olwen helped me to get all the details and be prepared for the safari and the booking was so smooth. I really recommend In The Saddle. Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic holiday with In the Saddle in Portugal at Ecotura in the Peneda Geres National Park. The horses were well looked after, great to ride, very sure footed. The hosts are fun, friendly and caring and they really love their horses. The food was amazing and the non riding activities fun, interesting and varied. I loved this holiday and would happily do it again. Well worth the money.

Fantastic experience: Wolves and Wild Horses - Portugal I would highly recommend this holiday, thank you Pedro, Anabela & Marianna for being fantastic hosts and sharing your very special corner of Portugal with us. The horses were great, time was dedicated to matching us to the right horse and the riding was varied with lots of canter opportunities. The accommodation was welcoming, clean and equipped with everything you might need. As for the food this was amazing, all home cooked and fresh, we ate like kings :-) Loved the non-horse activities too. Came home feeling relaxed and chilled. Gramando :-)

Fantastic experience: An ideallic horseriding holiday based in an unspoilt area of Spain. Excellent, forward going, well looked after horses. Very knowledgeable guides. Amazing food, very comfortable accommodation and welcoming staff. Nothing was too difficult. I was very unwell first 2 days of my holiday and was very well cared for. 'In The Saddle' staff were exceptional organising and forwarding all information required in our holiday pack.

Fantastic experience: An amazing venue, cork farm and horse breeding ranch offering top level horses to learn dressage movements to take home and improve upon. Caters for higher levels but also offers trail riding. Accommodation excellent, very stylish, comfortable, top end with hot tubs plunge pool. Breeding tours. Horses v well trained and looked after. Staff are amazing as are the guests I was with. Food delicious. I'd Def go again. In the saddle were fabulous to deal with and book through, very helpful and efficient. I'd Def book through them again to find the same or different holiday.

Fantastic experience: We had an unforgettable holiday at Ant's Lodges in South Africa arranged by In the Saddle. Accommodation, food, guiding and provision for non-riders was absolutely outstanding. Because the horses live out with the game, we were able to get so close to them.

Fantastic experience: Booked a trip to Los Alamos through In The Saddle. What a great experience; the booking process, customer service at In The Saddle, and, of course, the stay at Los Alamos. It was fabulous; great horses, riding, accomodations, food, hospitality - in other words: perfect!

Fantastic experience: Best holiday EVER. Magical Place! The staff catered to every need, going above and beyond. The horses and riding was fabulous, it was unbelievable how close to the wildlife we were able to get. The accommodations and food were all first class. It was wonderful to have so much flexibility into what you did each day. We loved it so much, we are planning to go back again next year.

Fantastic experience: In The Saddle organised a fantastic short-break horse riding trip for me to Los Alamos in Andalusia. This trip was described perfectly before hand. The organised itinerary was posted out in advance and the accommodation and riding where exactly as described. The team at In The Saddle had experienced the holiday in advance and were well versed in local knowledge, hints and tips to make the stay even better. The riding was some of the best that I have enjoyed, with an incredible national park to explore on lively, fit and well cared for horses. Definitely a trip for experienced riders and not novice.

Fantastic experience: Macatoo Camp Okavango Delta Botswana was incredible. From booking with In the Saddle to getting home nothing was too much trouble. The horses @ Macatoo were so well cared for, schooled and never flinched even when close to game ! Lots of fast, exhilarating riding safaris in the morning followed by champagne and lavish lunches served to perfection. Lazy afternoons riding at a slower pace with sundowners, viewing game followed by a candlelit 3 course dinner which never failed to disappoint. Tents were luxurious with en-suite and hot showers, mahogany flooring and comfy beds and bedding. Lovely plunge pool to relax by in the afternoons. This holiday exports you into another world - no TV, no mobile phones or newspapers - totally immerses you into the environment. I would highly recommend this camp with In the saddle. We will be returning !

Fantastic experience: A perfect riding holiday in every way. Beautiful location, wonderful horses, great riding and exceptional hosts.

Fantastic experience: I went to Uganda on the Nile Horseback Safaris trip and it was absolutely wonderful! Run by Natalie and TJ, a couple from New Zealand and Australia, and their fabulous Ugandan team who were all as kind and caring as they were skilled, everything was beautifully organised. The horses were all lovely - forward-going and beautifully schooled - and we were all perfectly matched with our mounts. The country is lush and beautiful with red earth and abundant crops and forests. We rode through countless villages where crowds of children ran towards us smiling and waving and shouting "How are yoooo?" We stayed in gorgeous lodges on the banks of the Nile and in a rainforest, where the accommodation is in your own individual luxurious cottage or cabin and the communal areas are open to the wonderful views. The highlight was Wild Waters Lodge, set on an island with raging torrents on both sides. The bathtub on the balcony of my cottage, overlooking the river, was something else! Though this is not a "big five" safari, we saw plenty of interesting wildlife, including large, colourful birds and rare monkeys. On our rest day we went white water rafting on the Nile which was also brilliant. It is easy to arrange an add-on trip to go to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest which I also highly recommend.
