Sea Life Mull

Fantastic experience: The wildlife watching tour was everything I hoped for! We saw dolphins and minky whales, which was a bucket list moment for me. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and friendly that the 4 hours really flew by. Wish I could do it all over again!

Fantastic experience: Our wee family joined the four hour wildlife tour and it was the highlight of our fab holiday on Mull. During the trip, we saw an extraordinary amount of minke whales, huge numbers of harbour porpoise engaging in hunting and acrobatics, pods of common dolphins, a white tailed sea eagle and a big variety of birds. The staff were amazing - chatting to our little girl, full of facts about the wildlife and the local area and super helpful when I had questions about animal behaviour. The boat is large and comfortable - lots of space up on the top deck to view in the open, but heated covered cabin down below for the less hardy on board. A highlight for us was being lucky enough to be sat near crew member Andy - his love of wildlife and the seas is infectious and he was such an inspiring person to talk to during the trip. We were even invited to see view his plankton specimens under the microscope back at the harbour - an experience which I think may have inspired a new future marine biologist in our household. All in all, we all loved this and would highly recommend it to everyone visiting Mull.

Fantastic experience: A fantastic experience on Mull, and a must for wildlife lovers. Not only is it a great chance to see wildlife, but James, Sally and Andy generally just do a great job in making it feeling a relaxed trip and can see their passion for wildlife also. They do a great job in a difficult industry as can't ever guarantee spottings. We actually went out twice with them in one week, and seen a lot across both trips and will happily be looking to book again on our next trip. Fantastic experience: We went on the 4 hour boat tour today (13/07/25) and it was fantastic. The staff are friendly, informative, very knowledgeable and engaging with you. During the trip, we were lucky to see dolphins, whales, Eagles, seals, diving gannets and other types of wildlife. The dolphins and whales were the highlight and couldn’t have been any closer to the boat. We also got to see the islands and local attractions along the way, such as Rum, Coll, Eigg, Ardnamurchan Lighthouse to name a few. All pointed out and highlighted by the staff. It’s worth mentioning again the staff, they really made the trip stand out with the way that they interacted with us as a group or individually. It’s been a heatwave on Mull so we went on the boat trip today and seen get out on the water where the temperature would be cooler/more manageable and that was a great shout. The boat trip has been a highlight and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Fantastic experience: Couldn’t recommend Sea Life Mull/Staffa Tours enough. My partner and I had booked onto their 4hr wildlife trip departing from Tobermory and unfortunately on the morning, due to ferry confusion (we were travelling over from Kilchoan, CalMac had shifted its usual ferry elsewhere and hadn’t made clear who the replacement charter service was with to look out for) we had originally begun to accept that we wouldn’t get out at all and were heartbroken. However, the team at Sea Life Mull and Staffa Tours did all they could to ensure we could still get out! They collected us alongside their other passengers for the Treshnish Isles trip from Kilchoan, and then met with the wildlife boat and pulled alongside to transfer us over. Not long after we’d boarded either, our first minke whale of the day popped up! The wildlife continued to amaze us, with a super pod of common dolphins later appearing and surrounding us, and even bow riding for a while. Utmost respect and distance was shown to the marine life, it very much interacted with us on their own terms, which meant a lot to me as a marine biologist/conservationist as well - it gave us the best encounters without causing any harm or disturbance to the animals. I can’t thank the team enough for putting in such effort for us to make sure we could still get on our trip and experience this wildlife. We’ve previously been on their Treshnish Isles trip last year and this was also absolutely wonderful. Will absolutely return for another trip in future (hopefully with less drama on my end!) and will recommend to everyone I can. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience: The best wildlife boat tour I’ve ever done! We saw minke whales, bottlenose dolphins, seal pups, common dolphins, sea eagles and feeding gannets. The staff were so knowledgeable and took time to explain things and answer our questions. They also have VERY keen eyes and could notice things we would never have spotted on our own. I couldn’t recommend this enough!

Fantastic experience: This was an amazing trip. The staff were all helpful and informative and ensured we all saw a wide variety of sealife. Highlights were the pods of dolphins and the minke whale that swam right by the side of the boat. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed it, who wouldn't with glorious sunshine and a calm sea it was like a mini cruise. Thank you sea life guys you made our holiday.

Fantastic experience: Incredible experience with sea life mull! Hundreds of dolphins chasing the boat and feeding! three minke whales, harbour seals , golden and a white tailed eagle! Such a fantastic day and one to remember forever! My three year old little girl loved it. All the staff were great but a special thanks to Stuart one of the volunteers, he was brilliant, so knowledgeable and really made sure that my daughter was included and involved, really looked after us! Best wildlife tour we’ve been on.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic 4 hour wildlife tour, and we were so pleased with it. We saw white-tailed eagles, a minke whale, porpoise, seals, and many different seabirds! The tour guides were so knowledgable and enthusiastic, and made sure everyone got to see everything we could. Would definitely recommend, we learned so much and saw some beautiful sights!

Fantastic experience: Sehr empfehlenswerte Tour. Ich war mit meiner Familie an Bord. Es gibt Plätze auf dem Deck und - wem das zu zugig ist- auch im inneren. Nette Guides weisen auf gesichtete Mehresbewohner und besondere Vögel hin. Wir konnten zwar keine Wahle spotten, dafür aber jede Menge Delfine.

Fantastic experience: Excellent tour from Tobermory out towards Coll. Very helpful and informative guide and spotters. We were fortunate to see several minke whales, dolphins, porpoises and many sea birds, plus a breeding pair of sea eagles and their baby chick. Excellent!

Fantastic experience: We went out from Tobermory. Weather was perfect and we saw minky whales, seals, various sea birds, basking sharks and a rare lucky sighting of a blue tuna breaching right near the boat. Amazing trip!

Dauphins, baleines, pygargues, phoques, fous de bassan etc. Certains animaux étaient si proches que nous pouvions presque les caresser. Fantastic experience: Nous avons fait une sortie en bateau de 4h avec deux enfants et une ado. Même si l’attention et la patience du plus petit étaient plus limitées(6 ans), nous avons toutes et tous adoré. Le trajet et les animaux observés ont donné le goût d’aventure et de nature que nous recherchions. L’équipe de Sea Life Mull est passionnée et très respectueuse des animaux, toujours ils ont maintenu leur distance et donné des explications intéressantes. Nous recommandons vivement.

Fantastic experience: Super ervaring met de Wildlife Tour van 4 uur. Veel gezien; dwergvinvissen, dolfijnen, papegaaiduikers, zeeleeuwen en nog veel meer. Aanrader! Ook het zeeaquarium in Tobermory is een bezoek waard, daar vind je bijvangst van de lokale vissers. Na vier weken worden alles weer netjes vrijgelaten.

Positive experience: Une équipe sympathique et une très belle promenade. Nous avons vu des baleines et c'était magique. En revanche l'ensemble dure 4 heures et c'est long !

Fantastic experience: Amazing day out! We did the 4 hour tour and it was fantastic. Loads of wildlife including eagles, whales and dolphins. The highlight has to be Sally. She is so knowledgeable and attentive. She spent the tour going around the boat answering questions and providing interesting facts about the wildlife. she was also really caring when I felt a little queazy! Only thing was there was no refreshments served on board so make sure you take some drinks and snacks with you. All in all, highly recommend

Fantastic experience: Sally & Louise are very knowledgeable and so friendly. They clearly love their job! We were giving up seeing anything (it happens!) and the captain suddenly changed course and we saw loads of dolphins! Absolutely amazing!! Really go out of their way (literally!) to get you to see the wildlife. Even though we didn’t see whales today, the girls were really knowledgeable about all the different birds and islands and lighthouses we saw too :-)

Fantastic experience: Fab day out last week, we were lucky enough to have a minky whale swim right under our boat and have some really close up sightings. We also had a big pod of dolphins race the boat and play in the wake for ages which was awsome. The team were really good and gave loads of information about the wildlife and the area

Fantastic experience: We took the 4 hour trip. We saw loads of minke whales - one of which had obviously enjoyed the recent hot weather at the end of July, and was showing off like a dolphin - even gave us a back flip. Sally was extremely friendly and knowledgeable (and also very excited by that minke). Don't take small children who are prone to travel sickness, though.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Sally, James & Andy. We had a wonderful time, so much so, that we came back for a second trip! Both wildlife adventures were great, very different from each other in terms of sightings and weather, which was wonderful. Thanks also for the good tips on the Isle of Mull in general Sally. The team were all so warm and welcoming and great at what they do.

Fantastic experience: One of the best sea life surveys trips that I have been on in the last 5 years, don't get me wrong they have all been very good, this one today makes my top 2 trips out of all 5 I have been on. Fantastic, friendly and informative crew, makes the whole experience worth every penny and I will be on another one when I next come back to Mull.

Fantastic experience: Had a great trip today with Sealife surveys from Tobermory. Saw sea eagle, common dolphin, harbour porpoise, basking shark, minke whale and bottlenose dolphin. Great trip and the dog loved it too.

Fantastic experience: Really friendly and knowledgeable staff who went above and beyond trying to maximise our sea life viewing, including staying out with the boat overtime. We saw basking sharks and dolphins up close, and minke whales, seals and porpoises at a distance. The whole family enjoyed it. I wish we had binoculars for the more distant animals. There is outdoor and indoor space on the boat. Take a face mask for use indoors. There is free parking in the marina carpark. We went to Macgorchans pub afterwards - a nice enough pub with excellent WiFi!

Fantastic experience: Their boat is large enough (or the group small enough) so everyone can see the wildlife properly, unlike some other tour operators in the area who pack the boat to the limit. During the seven hour trip we saw Minke whales, a basking shark, seals and several species of dolphins and porpoises. The guide was very helpful and enthusiastic, we had a great day!

Fantastic experience: Been out twice with Sealife surveys, both trips excellent. The staff are genuinely enthusiastic and keen to help. Saw loads of stuff on both trips, highlights being the pod of common dolphins playing with the boat. Lots of birdlife, minky whales too.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing day with the Sea Life Survey Team. First class Naturalists with eagle eyes and extensive knowledge. Skua, Puffin, Shearwater, Minke, chased by a pod of Dolphins and a great sighting of a White Tail. Unbelievable...

Fantastic experience: We booked on the Whalewatch Explorer 7 hour trip last year but sadly due to the weather it got called off. We decided to book again this year, and had one of the best days ever. We were welcomed onto the boat by the crew who were all incredibly knowledgeable and managed to direct us to see our first Minke whale. Throughout the day we saw more Minkes, porpoises, seals, eagles, a wide variety of seabirds and the highlight, a pod of dolphins that came and swam with the boat. I'd highly recommend Sea Life Surveys to anyone visiting Mull, and will be booking again when we come back!

Fantastic experience: We did the longer day tour in may. Saw dolphins, loads of birds including eagles and a minxy whale in the distance. The staff is very passionate about all creatures of the sea and delivered excellent explanations to all our questions. Would definately recommend!

Fantastic experience: We had the best trip ever. The crew were very knowledgeable and explained everything throughout the trip. The skipper navigated us perfectly through the swell and Andy the spotter kept going for over 5 hours! We saw 4 minke whales,one very close by and lots of jumping dolphins and harbour porpoises. Also storm petrel, Manx shearwater and other seabirds. The animals were always treated with respect more than I have ever seen on any whale watching cruise. Highly recommended!!!

Experts on board giving knowledgeable and interesting information on birds and wildlife We saw 2 sea eagles, 2 different sets of harbour porpoises, lots of gannets diving, dolphins playing round the boat, a seal, numerous other sea birds, and 5 minke whales The staff all watched out at all times for wildlife and if we saw a whale from a distance they took the boat closer. Fantastic experience: We've been home almost a week and my 5 year old has just reminded me if I remember Tom (our skipper) and Harry from our whale trip. They were fab, very friendly and engaging with our 2 young whale fanatics. Had a brilliant 4 hours out, spotting lots of minke whales. Just brilliant to see people who work there as excited as us. Loved every minute!
