This was my first time away with Large Outdoors and I'd highly recommend it I met a great bunch of people and shared lots of chat znd laughs x thank you all.

Daardoor een heel ontspannen vakantie gehad, heel veel gelachen en prachtige natuur gezien en ervaren. Een aanrader, en ik kom zeker weer!

Fantastic experience: Forest of Dean, with a Castle for accomodation. A fabulous weekend walking trip with Large Outdoors. A great team, ensuring everyone had a safe, fu n and well fed trip. I will definitely be going on future trips.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful Social Walking Weekend staying in the amazing St Briavels castle. My second booking with Large Outdoors and it didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious as always. Sian, Gareth and Andy so welcoming, knowledgeable and good fun. I was restricted a little with a recently broken wrist but the group rallied round and looked after me. Fantastic experience: I had a great walking holiday enjoying the Autumn colours and fabulous scenery around Pitlochry area . Saw the aura, and red squirrels were some of highlights. Our guide John was excellent and knowledgeable . We had some lovely food in local restaurant and cafe .The group were friendly and good fun. Pitlochry was a lovely base and the Youth Hostel very comfortable . Would highly recommend this Large Outdoors trip to Enchanted Forest . They are a great company .

Positive experience: Accommodation was great except for the heating being too high and the dorms being overheated. Luckily there were plenty of sofas to sleep on in the lounge where it was cooler. The location was OK. Nice enough surroundings. Nothing to get excited about though. The experience was good. Met some nice people and had a really nice time.

Fantastic experience: I've recently returned from a fantastic trip Exploring Orkney & Shetland, excellently guided by Gareth who shared his wealth of local and historical knowledge. The scenery on the coastal walk's was spectacular with an abundance of sea + bird life. Beautiful white sandy beaches and clear water appear unexpectedly enroute. The phrase most heard in this trip was - 'It's just stunning' . I whole heartedly recommend this trip, I loved it!!

Fantastic experience: Just came back from my second Large Outdoors walking break. This time it was Norfolk. Fantastic bunkhouse, super walk leader and a great host. The weather was amazing and so was the company. If you like walking and want to meet some lovely like minded people - don’t hesitate- book!

Fantastic experience: Amazing week away in beautiful Isle of Skye. Gareth was an amazing host, very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: Booked two events with them months apart, and both were cancelled - one because of the weather and one due to lack of bookings. I understand these things happen, but hoped that as they could not fulfil their end of the deal, they would refund me in full. Especially as I was significantly out of pocket due to taking days off work and booking hotels which were non-refundable. They would not refund me in full and gave me a credit note. Unfortunately I can't risk booking with them again, and hotel and travel, as every trip I've booked has been cancelled. Raised a complaint and they just refer to t&c s - not understanding that goodwill goes a long way and is one of the best forms of word of mouth and promotion for your business! Also there is a 'legal position' and also a 'decent thing to do' when someone is out of pocket as a result of YOU not being able to provide the service.

Fantastic experience: A really well organised but not ‘in your face’ experience. Brilliant walking with a perfect sized group. Friendly, patient and knowledgeable group leader, sorry-can’t fault it ! This is my second trip with you and would happily do another.

Accommodation varies from bunk houses and hostels to Country inns and small b&b’s. Ideal for solo travellers. Well organised and caters for all levels of expertise. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Just an amazing week on the Walking the Mountains of Skye trip. Our guide John lead us up to the top with encouragement, enthusiasm, dispensing knowledge of the mountains and flora and fauna en route. Some long and tough days out with scrambling at times. I’m so delighted to have achieved so much and couldn’t have done it without John’s inspirational guidance.

Fantastic experience: Just returned from 3 peaks in 3 days. It was superb! We were incredibly lucky with the weather. These guys are so professional and organised, making a completely stress-free experience! You can literally rock up on your own and straight away be chatting to others, feeling part of a little community! Dinner is cooked for you, and the food is wholesome and good. Fantastic experience: First time with go outdoors, myself and 3 friends, we took on the adventure of walking Snowdon. We were greeted by our host Lara who was fantastic and welcoming, cooking great meals and sharing knowledge. The accommodation was 5 stars, clean, cosy and everything you needed. The food was of good quality and my word was there plenty of it! Andy was our guide up the mountain and we can not praise him enough. He expertly led us up and filled us with the confidence we needed. I can not recommend Large Outdoors enough. Fantastic value for money and a wonderful experience I hope to have again soon.

Fantastic experience: Great group of people, my first meet up and time in a hostel! Very welcoming, our host Sian was amazing, superwoman making/cooking an evening meal and dessert for 25 of us (very chatty) noisy lot. Choice of long or short walks, make your own breakfast and pack up. Take turns washing up, relax after a great walk with new friends, fab!

Negative experience: Very disappointing! I have had two great holidays with large outdoors so had no hesitation on the Orkney and Shetland trip for August this year. Unfortunately after paying the full balance our trip has been cancelled. This was done by email that I nearly did not read as just thought another marketing email. Only 8 on the trip so not sure why a phone call could not have been made, would understand if it was 80. This was my only holiday this year due to funds and being a teacher we have to go at the most expensive times. You may thinking well 10 weeks notice and the offer of a full refund what’s my problem. Well as busy time of year and not wanting to either not be able to or expensive last minute flights my friend and I are £600 out of pocket for flights. There answer to this is well claim on insurance unfortunately I decided not to renew my policy this year as it had increased 4 fold due to long term medical condition and although my friend does have insurance there is a £150 excess. Obviously they will refund the holiday or we could transfer to next year at same price but although I would like to do that it means no chance of a holiday this year as they will keep our money. I did ask that refund but still have a booking for next year but was just quoted terms and conditions. We all accept that things go wrong which can’t be helped, but it is how you deal with them that matters! In 3 weeks I have Whitby weekend booked with obviously cannot cancel or lose even more money but feel I will find it difficult to now enjoy. A very disappointed customer.

Fantastic experience: I have just been on my 1st Large Outdoors trip to Ironbridge. It was amazing. The trip was really well organised - the walk leaders were excellent, the Large Outdoors staff in the hostel were too - cooking, telling us about the walks etc. The people I met were all friendly. I would highly recommend the company.

Negative experience: Just been on Hathersage weekend in Peaks and it was the worst trip I've been on in 40 years of walking Nothing was acceptable , so much so it took a 13 point email to point out all the faults And then when you cancel the next event as they're that poor you get offered a credit voucher !!! I'd rather never go walking again than trust LO to organise a P up in a brewery !!

Fantastic experience: Great wild swimming trip !! We visited lots of different swim spots, including sea Lochs, mountain lochs, rivers and healing pools. The transport and accommodation was great, well organised. Our guide John was fab, very knowledgeable about the area and of course kept everyone safe. I'm looking to go again in the future.

Fantastic experience: Home from a fantastic week on Skye. Great trip and company. Everything was so well organised over the week which meant we could just enjoy every day. Great walking and cake! Highlight was a fantastic boat trip to Canna and delicious food at the Dunvegan Hotel. 4 days of great walking on coastal paths but also taking in the Old Man of Storr and Quiraing. Would highly recommend travelling with Large Outdoors for exploring Skye!

Fantastic experience: Just a fantastic first experience walking in Dorset along the Jurassic Coast. Well organised and with a great bunch of people led so well by Shad and Lawrence. I’m not a regular walker so it definitely challenged my fitness but felt ecstatic at the end. Will definitely do some more with Large Outdoors!

Fantastic experience: The' Isle of Skye , walking the mountains ' was I think the 7th Large Outdoors event I've attended , and by far , one of the best for me . Ì had wanted to visit and walk on Skye for a while , and this was the perfect way to get up into He mountains and also see the Island . John , our guide is extremely knowledgeable and capable of leading this experience . There is nothing he does'nt know about the area , the Island and it's mountains and how to get up into and around them . We also learned a lot about the history and local geology ( please don't test me ) . In top of all that , John is a lovely guy who is very approachable , a lot of fun and works very hard to make sure you are kept safe and get the very best out of your trip . Ì shared this week with a great bunch of like minded people who all contributed to making this week on Skye an incredible experience .

Fantastic experience: This was my first experience with Large Outdoors Ltd and I have to say that it was one of most enjoyable and rewarding holidays I've ever been on. We had a small group of 8 people and were expertly led by John. Not only did he do all the organising and driving, he always made sure the day was not only planned with due regard to the weather forecast but also risk assessed in terms of the groups' ability and fitness. He managed the group to ensure that no one was 'lagging behind', did all the navigating and for good measure, was able to explain points of interest together with snippets of history including anecdotes based on his own experience. As a result, he gave us the confidence for us to be left entirely 'in his hands' including the choice of some of the best restaurants on the island. Despite 2 or 3 mornings when the day began with rainy conditions, it didn't take long before the sun came out and overall, we were very fortunate with the weather, which of course made a big difference. Everyone enjoyed the unique experience of exploring the Isle of Skye and its breathtaking mountains and I would have no hesitation in going away again with 'Large Outdoors'.

Fantastic experience: This was my first trip booked with Large Outdoors as a sole traveller and based on this experience certainly won't be the last. Gemma was a superb host and made everyone feel at home. Along with Ash, our other guide, the weekend went without a hitch and with some really good weather too. The scenery was fantastic, the hostel, although basic, was comfortable and just a bit compact for the numbers attending however that was never an issue. The food was hearty and well prepared. In all it was everything I hoped it would be. To top it off, what a great bunch of fellow walkers. All so friendly, and it made the weekend.

Fantastic experience: My third trip with Large Outdoors, this time on the Isle of Skye. It was totally brilliant. Our 'leader' was excellent - knowledgeable, patient, nothing was too much trouble. They're a small organisation with lovely values, you feel like they genuinely want you to have a good time. I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: What an absolutely brilliant weekend on the Brecon Beacons Walking and Waterfalls weekend. Everything was good from start to finish. The host and the walk leads were very professional and understanding of all levels for the walks. There are more than one walk on each of the days to accommodate all levels of fitness. I go on these weekends alone and have done on many occasions they are brilliant for single people as many many people go alone. Well worth a try if you've not been

Fantastic experience: A fantastic small company with dedicated guides, who are all absolutely focused on making sure that their guests have a wonderful time on holiday. I have taken 2 trips with Large Outdoors this year - Walking the West Highland Way in April, and the Orkney & Shetland trip in August. I would highly recommend both these trips and Large Outdoors in general. My next trip with them is next April - I can’t wait!

Fantastic experience: This has been one of the best holidays I've ever had. It was my first walking holiday and I didn't know what to expect. The views in Orkney and Shetland were magical and the weather was mostly sunny. Both accommodations were great. The company was lovely and our leader John was extremely knowledgeable and patient. I'd recommend a Large Outdoors holiday based on this one.

Fantastic experience: An interesting and enjoyable walking weekend along Hadrians Wall and staying at Ninebanks YHA. Trish and Stefan our hosts did a great job, especially after the lack of a Tesco delivery with our dinner supplies on Friday night. The youth hostel was cosy, clean and nice having the whole place to ourselves. The Saturday (longer) walk was about 13 miles, which was slightly cut short due to the wet weather conditions but that was fine. The route was quite up and down so we were out for 7 hours inc short breaks. Good hearty evening meals provided. The walk on Sunday was much shorter and included Sycamore Gap (a personal highlight) and a lot of surviving wall which was superb. The group was a good mix and I met some lovely people. I’ve got 2 more holidays booked so I’m looking forward to those. Thanks LO!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic weekend of wild swimming in Snowdonia. The accomodation was very clean and comfortable. The group was a really friendly bunch and we had many laughs. I attended with a friend and shared a room however I would happily attend on my own like many others on the trip. Our host Chris was superb. Very knowledgeable, down to earth and nothing was too much trouble. He went out of his way to find hidden gems for swimming which were great. Fantastic experience: I've done 4 trips with Large Outdoors and they have all been great. Good communication about requirements and venues, good leaders with planned routes, and good company with other people attending. As males we tend to be in the minority but Large Outdoors don't market the events that way. Just come back from walking some of the South West coastal path weekend and will be booking for another event next year.
