Fantastic experience: Visited activities away on Saturday for my son’s birthday party, my son and all his friends had a brilliant time! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was lovely too, we will definitely be back to visit again.

Positive experience: Lovely.water for swimming, access to lake can be a little challenging particularly if water level is low and it's busy. One off purchase of access card is needed, and then they work on a top up voucher system via app. If you feel you might ever need to cancel a session it might be worth paying the extra for the cancellation option as they are very strict (non communicative ) on any reasonable request to refund regardless of reason, or how help you have been in letting them know you cannot attend.

Fantastic experience: The team here were so helpful, I had trouble with my own paddle board and without asking the staff were all helping to ensure I got it fixed. Such friendly staff and lovely place to go paddle boarding. Will definitely be returning. Would recommend a visit.

Fantastic experience: I really don't know how I've only recently found Activities Away, but so pleased I have! I've now been a couple of times for self launch SUP sessions and it is absolutely a hidden gem! A nice relaxed atmosphere, the staff are so lovely and helpful, and whilst I'm no expert on water quality, the lake is basically crystal clear (so I'm assuming that's good! ). Really looking forward to the summer where I hope for many more visits!!

Fantastic experience: Thank you for a fabulous introduction to SUP for my 11 year old daughter during the Easter Holidays. Well organised and such friendly staff! She loved it and wants to do it again (in the summer lol!) Well worth the money and we look forward to booking her on again once we receive dates!

Fantastic experience: I am really well and truly struggling to believe I’ve never reviewed this place before. I’ve had a decades long very intense and strange relationship with this body of water. It’s had me in all kinds of states, from the height of summer to the depths of winter, from eel tickling to toe nibbling and everything in between. I could tell you everywhere I am from staring at the bottom of that lake and the patterns of weed and mud on the bottom. Honestly spent way more time in it than I would ever have thought humanly possible or healthy. There’s also a fella there has a little fuzzy head like a 1970s action man doll that likes to sell you food and drink when you aren’t swimming.

Positive experience: Really enjoyed the visit to Hykeham this weekend. Disappointed that the SUP launch we booked.... Was only for one adult.... Weren't allowed to rotate users. Other than that... Staff were helpful and facilities were good. .

Negative experience: Emailed them for a availability as they tell you to on the website but they never respond. Can never get anyone to answer a phone you have to go to them direct to book anything.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing place. Staff were all incredibly helpful, in fact went above and beyond which isn't something you seem to get much of these days. The lake was so clean and surprising warm too. Great facilities, toilets cafe etc. Not sampled any food but if it tastes as good as it smells it should be a winner.

Fantastic experience: The water quality and safety aspect at this lake is amazing, I cannot recommend it highly enough to both experienced and newbie swimmers. Great food and beverages also on offer at the Cafe shack

Fantastic experience: A great morning out! Staff were very friendly and accommodating for my daughter and me. Really good set up and service. Great food and drink on site with an awesome seating area with a nice view across the water too.

Fantastic experience: RYA First Aid Course. Well run, plenty of refreshments and a great lunch. Just kept the info at the pace you needed with practical sessions as required. Ideal.

Fantastic experience: The venue is great. The loop is great - to improve stamina and stroke. Great changing facilities and toilets and even a cold shower which is bracing.The food is lovely and such a treat to have the facility of hot food straight after a swim. Today I had stir fry veggies and halloumi salad with a cuppa Yorkshire Tea.Gorgeous! Also, forgot my hat, but they lent me one. Can’t wait for winter season swimming! Yoga Sup also highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Activities Away is consistently excellent. The lake is a great place to swim, with lovely clear water and comprehensive life guard cover. And the café is superb - a great selection of coffee and cake, cold drinks, and a wider menu with items such as bacon ciabatta, wood fired pizza and nachos. To top it all, the staff are lovely and friendly, and keen to make your visit enjoyable. Well worth a trip.

Fantastic experience: From start to finish the folks at Activities Away went out their way to accommodate our visit. From allowing us to book at a time they don't normally due to us having a very specific date we could attend. To being considerate when I was held up in traffic and slightly late. To then making sure we got food (chilli was awesome Steve!) even though they were prepping for an event. Friendly and professional and welcoming. Amazing find and we will be back.

Fantastic experience: Had the BEST morning kayaking here today. Steve was fab - had some laughs with him and he served us some wicked bowls of chilli and nachos and a cracking coffee. Josh was ace at getting us kitted out and keeping his eye on us in the water. Can't wait to come back and try paddle boarding!! Thanks guys!

Positive experience: Nice lake and community. Car park is a nightmare, very uneven and muddy when wet. No changing rooms either so be prepared to get back to nature

Fantastic experience: Nice place. Water is lovely. Granted it could be day/time of year depending, but it was clean, clear, no weeds and on our visit a balmy 20degC. We did paddle boarding. They provide boards, suits, life vests and helmets. All good gear in fine fettle. Bargain at £15 for an hour I think. Would come back here to do some OW swimming I think.

Negative experience: had to point out that there are piles of kayaks available ; - only then got rented out one : excellent examples of lazy British employees.

Fantastic experience: Great fun doing kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. Quick process to get wetsuits and safety equipment then straight out onto the water. We really enjoyed jumping off the pontoons too.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing session flyboarding today at Activities Away. Everyone was really helpful, none more so than my instructor, Alex. He was friendly, clear and a fantastic instructor. Couldn't believe that more people hadn't had flyboarding sessions this summer! It is a lot of fun and a great experience I will be repeating. Highly recommend this activity and Activities Away as a whole. Thank you for a great evening. Just need to book the wife in now!

Fantastic experience: What a great time our family had, we started the day kayaking. My wife had never been before and the staff were brilliant, helpful right from the start, welcoming and approachable. Even with the bad weather they were out and getting things set up to make sure we had everything we needed. We went out on the kayaks for a good hour, other equipment was out and were told we were free to use whatever was out. My daughter loved every minute, the water is clear and the lake seems clean and private. Once we had finished and got changed we went to do archery, I can honestly say I don't which I enjoyed more. The instructor was light hearted but professional the whole time. A great place for outdoor water activities with the family or solo, I am really looking forward to going back.

Fantastic experience: Really fun day for the kids..

Fantastic experience: We hired kayaks for an hour for 4. It was surprisingly not too expensive £40. The equipment hire and wetsuits etc were included. We had a fantastic time and the staff are great, we quite happily messed about in the water without fear of being told off Such a relaxed atmosphere we would definitely go again. The lake is extremely clean too.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had her 7th birthday party there. The 10 year old was very jealous. They both loved it. Lots of party activities. Very accommodating (we used the picnic area afterwards for sandwiches and cake). And the staff were absolutely amazing with the kids. Would say for all ages too as saw a teenage party next to us having great fun too.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous atmosphere and great staff .. it has the feel of an old school surf beach / Secret stash in the mountains ... rare these days to find a venue with its own authenticity and vibe.

Fantastic experience: Great amenity for open water swimming. Very clean and clear water, good safety supervision and hot snacks and drinks to warm up afterwards if you need to.

Fantastic experience: I had never been open water swimming but go every week now. This is a really clean lake, friendly atmosphere and great chili con carne after a cold swim. They have a 100m loop and 800m loop. Chill staff and a great facility. Open 9-12 Saturday and Sunday. Surprisingly doesn't get that busy
