Fantastic experience: We ( 6 adults ) stayed at Rose Cottage in Crickhowell for 3 nights, it was a beautiful cottage and was extremely comfortable and had more than we could have expected. We were very impressed with the quality and finish of the cottage. It is in a great location close to Shops, Restaurants and Pubs. There is also a bus stop nearby. We were also able to message the owner, who was very helpful

Negative experience: I would prefer to leave a Zero Star review. This is a review by a property owner using Travel Chapter to manage a property. There are plenty of bad reviews by owners on here. I agree with points made by all those I have read. My summary: very poor quality services firm, often unprofessional, good as selling its services to owners but no good at delivery. In my case, I found they were very solicitous in the sign up stage and then very tricky indeed to deal with. Rather than feeling like I employed them, it felt like they were working against me. They were poor at handling descriptions and photos. They were poor at communicating with the cleaning/housekeeping firm (despite TC recommending that firm). They were often terribly difficult to get hold of. Rarely were they swiftly responsive to my questions, instructions, etc. They operate in a very siloed way. One operative never checks with another. The bookings people never check with the property manager, for example. Not a joined up/seamless feel on my side. At several points they did things which I'd asked not to happen, given instructions to the contrary, etc. I had a customer complaint and TC dealt with that very much as though they were acting solely for the guest. They spoke a "good game" in terms of service and income. None of that came true. A short-hand description of the experience is that I spent ages - days and days and days - managing the managing agents! Travel Chapter charges top dollar for its services. They don't provide a service in any way in line with those charges.

Negative experience: As an owner, and as a holiday maker, I cannot recommend them. This is an owner review. I expect my property to be respected and looked after by any agent and quite simply travel chapter did the opposite; obstructive, disrespectful and inefficient at all times. I could give lots of examples, I could evidence how they have cost me money, but I'll just give one example of their stupidity: On set-up I told travel chapter when the chimney was being swept (as the chimney sweep certificate is essential, for compliance and insurance). They booked guests in for a date when the chimney was being swept and then when chasing me (why?) for the chimney sweep certificate said they would have to check it was ok with the guests. The guests said they would cancel if the date wasn't moved (not easy this time of year). That's one example of 100. Loads of complaints about their shoddy housekeeping. I paid them for my gas safety certificate but they still haven't sent it to me. Avoid at all costs. If I could give 0 stars I would

Negative experience: Very unprofessional and poor company ! Please be warned that this company will take your money. No correspondence whatsoever up until I emailed them asking what do we do as regards the keys. Then two days before the holiday was due I receive a phone call saying I cannot go because it's been double booked. I own two companies and had to put a huge amount of planning in place to make this holiday happen. To make matters worse they say I will have to wait nearly a week to get a refund leaving me having to pay out once more to book somewhere else with another company. Before they claim this is a bogus review my booking reference is 3317113. The gentleman that telephoned me to break the bad news was both unprofessional and very uncaring and not at all concerned that I was going to warn others about this companies lack of care and poor performance. Holidaycottages.co.uk will never get another booking from myself again and everyone I come into contact with I will advise them also to stay clear also.

Negative experience: Owners should be aware of just how Travel Chapter manage their properties. I recently returned from a three night break in Southwold and the level of cleanliness in the property was unacceptable. I alerted the company immediately on my return, with photographic evidence and five days later there has been no resolution. As a paying guest (£210 per night for a 2 bed property) you are expected to remove bed linen from beds and empty bins and even doing that they still don’t clean the property to an acceptable standard. Obviously this could impact on the owners future revenue if poor reviews lead to a decline in bookings

Negative experience: Absolutely atrocious for owners, hidden fees everywhere, commission taken is extortionate, perhaps would be acceptable if the service was good but it is not. OWNERS DO NOT USE. Why anyone would choose this sub standard service over Vrbo or Airbnb is beyond me. For GUESTS reading this, your holiday property is probably on Airbnb or Vrbo and at a significantly cheaper price - avoid!

Negative experience: Not recommended for owners. I complained that their online platform does not take bookings from America and got this absurd response: “At the time of sign up, I am not aware that you mentioned any requests to take bookings from America or indeed any other overseas country, and you did not request any data on how many overseas bookings we usually take. If you had specifically mentioned that you wanted bookings from US tourists, or that you wanted a lot of bookings from overseas visitors, it would have become a term of the Contract.” To counter the fault in their own booking platform, TC will urge you to let them list your property on Airbnb.

Negative experience: The lettings company we used was taking over by Travel Chapter last year. The service and Account Management since the takeover has been pitiful. Staff are pleasant but not setup to succeed; inadequate training and enormous workloads - our Account Manager had a portfolio of over 170 properties. This suggests that Travel Chapter is financially focused rather than Customer Focused- a strange strategy in the leisure sector. Be afraid if your local, friendly agency is gobbled by the Travel Chapter monster!

Positive experience: As a passed owner the service they provided was really good, except when it comes to claiming against damage they sell the insurance to the guest but then when damages are caused the guest has to authorise it? So when you have a guest doesn’t admit damages you have no where to go except taking the guest to small claims, which in my case he’d used multiple phones and a different email so in the end couldn’t contact him, so the only winner is Travel Chapter in selling the insurance that is not fit for purpose, and doesn’t look after the owner and with this in mind I would ask people thinking of using them to ask if this has changed, if not look at other options. Negative experience: We stayed at a property in Keswick which slept 18. There was 1 wine glass !!! the Aga didn’t work , fridge door broken , 4 fly papers left hanging in the kitchen - FULL!! , it was dirty , one of the showers upstairs was dangerous , we contacted sallys cottages while we were there. Even went in to the office on Monday 3rd , sent emails listing everything , it’s now 20th October , we’ve contacted on twitter. Facdbook and LinkedIn to request an update but keep getting fobbed off , terrible customer service. The weekend was over £2000!!

Negative experience: We have had a very bad experience with this company. At the time we booked our holiday we took out the insurance policy. The marketing on the site led us to believe that we had flexibility to cancel and have the deposit refunded. But now it appears that the terms are very restrictive and the admin of getting our money back is time consuming. I am incredibly disappointed and won’t be using this company again. Very poor and misleading communications and marketing!

Fantastic experience: Travel Chapter provide an impressive service. As a property owner l have great confidence in the advice they provide and decisions made. We have been with them for almost two years, during that time our bookings which were high prior to us joining them, have increased further! (Obviously prior to Covid.) Support and advice is up to date, speedy and clear. Travel Chapter are so swift in notifying us of the impact of Government decisions with regard to Covid and other issues for that matter. As a result of their strengths we are confident owners. Knowing our guests have chosen the right property for them, that they are safe and that we are doing the right things with regard to letting our property.

Fantastic experience: I have dealt with a number of Holiday agents across the last few years and I have found Travel Chapter to be the most effective and professional. Travel Chapter certainly provide the most bookings for both of our current properties and the pricing and service ensures we can maximise annual turn-over. It is a real benefit to have a local Property Manager who has visited both cottages and who really understands the market and local area. I highly recommend Travel Chapter to other cottage owners.

Fantastic experience: The assistance and rapid response with information during coronavirus has been excellent. Good marketing has meant that we have been fully booked our entire season and previous seasons. Having a local manager on the IOW helps a lot and they seem to have treated our holiday makers very fairly when they needed to cancel because of coronavirus.

Fantastic experience: We have been very pleased with the service that Travel Chapter delivers to us as a property owner, not only from its HQ team but also locally via its property manager. We have had good feed back from our guests especially how they have been handled over the last twelve months with regard to either changing their booking, rolling it over one year to another, or getting refunds. The booking system is informative and seems easy to use and gives us reliable advice regarding future guests. The feedback has always been positive even to the extent that guests comment that the description of the property undersells what is actually delivered! However our view is that it is better for guests to be overwhelmed rather than underwhelmed! The financial information and advice given by Travel Chapter regarding financial assistance, marketing, and health and safety advice during the pandemic has been invaluable.

They are a young, professional, innovative, forward thinking company. Our account manager is a lady called Kate Gray, she is an asset to both ourselves and her company, nothing is too much trouble for her and she is always contactable. The company send out regular News Bulletins and has kept all Clients well informed especially re: the latest Pandemic situation, advising how and where help can be accessed.. Fantastic experience: We have rented our cottage through Travel Chapter for 18 months and found them to be helpful and professional. Outside of closures for covid reasons we have had extremely high levels of bookings and feel the property is marketed at the right level. Communication and response to government changes during the pandemic has been excellent not only for owners but also, I believe, for guests. Our manager, Kate, is easy to contact and there if we need her. Would definitely recommend and can't imagine how a letting company could have done better in this extremely difficult year we've all just been through. Keep up the good work!

Fantastic experience: I moved over to Travel Chapter with Hall Croft Farm Holidays to help promote our barns. A difficult start as my first season started just as the first lockdown hit us. Unprecedented times for us all but I had such great support from my Account Manager and staff. I was extremely pleased with the amount of bookings that had already been placed once the barns were marketed and had a very good first season. Very professional and efficient. Fantastic experience: Excellent booking uptake, very good long term planning and guidance, live booking calendar and fair T&C's for owners. My experience with The Travel Chapter has been extremely good and they have been absolutely brilliant throughout 2020 and into 2021 with their communication regarding Covid restrictions. They also struck an extremely fair and consideration position for both guests and home owners in what has been an unprecedented situation. For the commission taken, I would prefer them to be first point of contact for guests right up until they arrive, rather than being contacted directly by guests but this happens rarely. As with all things, letting success is reliant on the quality and location of your house as well as having a good account manager (mine is fab!). I have no hesitation in recommending The Travel Chapter as a highly professional, market aware booking agency that you can really partner with.

Fantastic experience: We are delighted to be with Travel Chapter as cottage owners. We get a really great level of bookings , better than expected, Travel chapter handle all the customer service and booking queries and during the recent pandemic have been really great at managing cancellations and rebookings. They do an outstanding job generating bookings – every year the occupancy has far exceed what I’d hoped for. On top of that, my property manager, Belinda, is an absolute pleasure to work with. Fantastic experience: I have had my holiday cottage with Travel Chapter for several years. I have always been very happy with the service they provide and especially during the situation with coronavirus when holiday bookings have had to be cancelled, sometimes at very short notice. All handled very efficiently, and I have been kept informed of my guests intentions despite the pressure the staff must have been under. All but one of my guests rebooked their holiday for a later date when we are able to reopen. I think this says a lot about the quality of service they received, and of course, my lovely cottage!! My guests are always very happy with the booking process, and with a designated property manager always available to have a chat to if you need help with anything, I think Travel Chapter offer an excellent service.

Fantastic experience: Travel Chapter is an amazing letting agent. We have a fabulous dedicated property manager who always responds quickly to our queries. The company's approach is individualised and not 'one size fits all' which means our pricing reflects our offer and is not based just on how many beds we have. Plugging into their niche brands, particularly Canine Cottages, has seen our bookings soar over the past two years. We receive regular and concise email updates about the industry which have been really helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Travel Chapter if you are thinking of letting your property.

Fantastic experience: Travel Chapter as an organisation are extremely efficient. They send us excellent information about bookings and keep us up to date at all times. Our property manager, Amy, is friendly, very helpful and always available to assist. We have received many bookings through Travel Chapter and this keeps our holiday cottage fully booked during our opening times. Any dealings with central office/ call centre have been dealt with promptly to the satisfaction of both us as owners as well as for clients, always aiming for understanding and flexibility, especially during the difficult times of last season. Fantastic experience: My holiday cottage has been let through this company for nearly 2 years and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. All dealings with them have been prompt, efficient and friendly, in particular with Belinda our Property Manager, who is always there to answer my questions or just bounce ideas off. Despite being a new property we were fully booked through peak season last year and already have 18 weeks booked from Easter to September this year (Regs allowing). I've been particularly impressed with how they have handled the vast number of changes the pandemic has brought and Jonathan's email updates have been comprehensive, timely and easy to understand. I did a lot of research before choosing my holiday cottage company and I'm so pleased that I ended up with The Travel Chapter.

Fantastic experience: My holiday cottage had been with a very small company for many years. I was nervous of how a large company would perform and if i would feel like a very small cog in a big wheel. I didn't need to worry at all! The performance has been great and i have my own personal representative here on the Isle of Wight. Amy has been enormously helpful with making decisions into the future. She is easy to contact . Fantastic experience: We started our holiday lets with Travel Chapter and have always been happy with their help and professional advise .They have a great marketing presence and both our properties in Devon and the Isle Of Wight are both fully booked for the Summer season and beyond. They manage the pricing structure for our cottages according to market rates and take care of all the booking process , and any special requests are made by a client they always check with first to make sure it can be accommodated.Both our property managers in Devon Sarah and in the IOW Amy have been fantastic in helping us improve our accommodation to meet our customers needs.Also they have a great phone App where you can keep track of your bookings and payments and I know our change over staff use this to help plan for all the bookings we manage. If you are looking to let a property as a holiday let then I would highly recommend Travel Chapter to maximize your customers and take the hassle out of processing bookings. Thanks to all the team.

Positive experience: As property owners we have found the company to be reliable, prompt and accurate in all dealings with ourselves. From the many comments left by our guests, it is clear that our visitors have also experienced a good level of service. Having a local property manager adds a very important contact point for ourselves and our guests should any issues arrise.

From initial advice on setting up our first holiday let property through to the day to day marketing of our property the help and advice has been invaluable. Negative experience: Very good staff at the call centre. For owners wanting to sell their property or just stop letting it out, they take a £1000 withdrawal fee. To avoid the withdrawal fee, there is 6 months notice to be given. The only month to get 6 months notice is in April before the contract rolls onto another year. If, as I did you want to withdraw in May it will be 18 months notice or pay £1000.

Negative experience: Definitely would NOT recommend using this company to book your holiday or to let out your holiday cottage. Being a customer and a property owner I know both ends. And they do not post all reviews online only the selected good ones therefore guests potentially booking the property do not know fully what other guests have to say about the property or the area the property is located in. You will be able to see this with the lack of reviews being posted between each week/month. They make sure all guests that leave the property, leave reviews by offering them discount on they're next stay but then won’t publish the review if a negative one comes through. The customer service is awful and so is they're property managers for the area. I say ManagerS, because you never have the same one for long until you get introduced to yet another new member of staff who doesn’t know anything about that area. When you phone up and speak to a member of the customer service team they can’t even find your cottage That you let out or the one you are due to stay in! Even with a reference number! Happened many many of times. When contacting the property manager for the area who is supposed to be on hand, you won’t be able to get hold of them as they’re “out of office” is continuously on. And phones always switched off, and phone calls never returned. Class yourself lucky when you get communication from them.!! They pick and choose what % commission rate they want you to be on. Regardless of how many properties you have. They advertise properties incorrectly on their own website, Advertising parking spaces and allowing guests to turn up with A number of cars yet no parking spaces available. Sending wrong information out to guests regarding key code details, and guests being stuck outside the property until they can get hold of someone in the customer service/reservation department. Allowing guests (myself for one)to book with 4 pets, and when turning up to the property was told by the owner that it was only the 2 dogs that was allowed to stay although they had charged me £20 per dog. The alternative was either find arrangements for the dogs or go home with no refund. Please avoid booking through this company. Otherwise you will be left disappointed!!

Fantastic experience: Just provided PAT testing to some lodges called Green Pastures in the Scottish borders which I believe are booked through this website. What a lovely locations and the lodges are immaculate with a great setting. Highly recommend these lodges in Kelso.

Negative experience: Again, do not trust this company, totally inefficient and unhelpful. I recently took over a cottage with some of their bookings and instead of honouring them and being helpful they were obstructive and dismissive of my needs.And... they have the cheek to charge 22% + VAT !! Airbnb all the way for me.

Negative experience: Currently having real problems with this company. We have let our property out through the offshoot business called "holiday cottages." what started out as a "we're different from other companies, we care about our let's." Well what an absolute disaster! Our cottage has been abused horribly, urine stains, broken furniture and burnt bedding, broken tiles.... List goes on. When enough was enough and we wanted to withdraw our property we were sent £1000 withdrawal fee! Do not let with these people!
