G Adventures: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Spirit of Shakleton Cruise. We are recently back from a 21 night cruise from Ushuaia to the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia and The Falklands. The expedition leader and his team were exceptional - they all had deep knowledge of the location, wildlife and gave excellent lectures during days at sea. We were fortunate with the weather and wildlife but the ships hotel crew were brilliant. Even the crew band was excellent. We opted to camp on the Peninsula. The camping gear was high quality so we were nice and warm. The ship, the MV Expedition is an older type ship offering good levels of comfort but is slightly less luxurious than others - this is made up for by ships ability in bigger seas. So, a huge thank you to Matt Burnaby and his team.
Hi David, We love to hear that you enjoyed your time with us on the ship! Thank you for reaching out with your kind words.
Negative experience: G Adventures, I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I booked a trip on August 20 for a tour starting September 13 and paid in full, yet my booking was never confirmed. You claimed you “could not identify my money,” and I am still waiting for a refund weeks later with no confirmation or timeline. Your communication has been unacceptable—my emails remain unanswered, and when I contacted your online chat, one of your agents rudely told me that “chasing will not speed up the process.” You’ve held my money for over three weeks without resolution. This is not the level of professionalism or customer care I expected. Give me my money back and urgently improve your payment handling and communication. Travelers: don't pay in advance for this company as they are untrustworthy!
Hi Gyongyike, I'm sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction regarding the booking process. I've reviewed your file and it looks like this was successfully resolved. Thank you for taking the time to reach out and, should the time become right, we would love for the opportunity to host you once again.
Fantastic experience: I have just arrived home from the most amazing trip to Egypt (boats and Bazars) with Gadventures and have already booked another trip with them for later in the year. First the trip was well organised with all the logistics fully planned, we just had to turn up and let our CEO (tour guide) lead the way! The hotels were all to a high or higher than expected standard, we had professional transfers and friendly drivers. Gadvventures is a very holistically minded company and gives back to communities all around the world, takes a stance on animal welfare and are conscious of the environment. I would recommend them to anyone looking to travel solo or with friends on a tour. Our CEO Hussein Mahmoud was exceptional. He made everyone feel safe and went above and beyond to support everyone’s welfare. Hussein has a vast amount of local knowledge and understanding of Ancient Egypt. Hussein is a huge credit to Gadventures and Egypt. I recommend both the Egypt tour and the company as a whole for their values. Thinking of booking with them, do it now.
Hi Steven! Thanks so much for the kind words; we love to hear it. It's so nice to read that Hussein was exceptional and made you feel safe and supported. We can't wait to have you back! Our world deserves more you.
Negative experience: Disappointing experience after pay lots of money for this trip to Peru and after wait all my life to see Machu Picchu , when we got there g adventure only have ticket for the bottom part I could not go to the top to see the iconic view of Machu Picchu or take a photo , the worth was when I’d find out the other g aventure group managed to go to the top their CEO advised them so they had the chance to get last min ticket our CEO didn’t told us we just find out on the day I’d was absolutely devastated I literally was in tears, my first time and my last with this company, no a great experience,. Our Inca trail got cancelled and we got no money back for it . Constantly asking for tips for the tours guide, careless people on the group with very bite comments, no a great experience at all therefore I won’t used this company no more .
Hi V, Thank you for your feedback; I'm sorry to learn that your experience did not meet with your expectations. I am unable to retrieve your file with the information available to me, but if you email [email protected] they can assist further. Thanks again for reaching out with your thoughts.
Negative experience: Here is our disappointed story of the trip "from Budapest to Istanbul by train". First of all, the tour guide was amazing. Without her, all the following sentences would be stricter. We booked the hotel a few nights earlier through gadventures to get some impressions of Budapest before the trip. But when we arrived at the hotel in the evening, nobody knew about the reservation. As almost all hotels in the city were fully booked due to a motorbike festival, we had to beg for help at the reception until late at night until we finally got a room for one night. Unfortunately, the service hotline of gadventures did not help us. When we asked the tour operator for a refund for the overpaid price, we did not get an answer for a fortnight. When an answer finally came with the refund amount, we were shocked. Not even the full price of the additional hotel booked that night and no compensation for the helpless night. The journey through Eastern Europe was promised on the German homepage as a journey by train. "Von Budapest nach Istanbul mit dem Zug" is a customer deception. We only sat on the train once for two hours out of about 40 hours of travel at least. We were very disappointed because we specifically wanted (and bought) a train journey. We would like to warn everyone not to be deceived by this. This is travel by mostly private buses. We are still hoping to get financial resolution for the problems and falsely advertised trip.
Hi Eva, Thank you for taking the time to provide your comments; I appreciate it very much. I'm unable to find your file with the information here but if you haven't already, please email [email protected] with this feedback and they will happily investigate further.
Fantastic experience: I had the best few weeks on the New Zealand North and South Adventure, amazing knowledge, made memories for life & Liv the tour guide was fantastic I couldn’t recommend the experience more!
Hi Abbey! So glad to hear - our world deserves more you!
Positive experience: Good itinerary but non stop and cheap hotels cheap transport but in end you need to pay extra for extra activity extra bus extra tips. So never gonna be that price.
Hi Hossangui, Thanks for taking the time to send through your feedback; I appreciate it very much. G Adventures offers multiple tour styles and inclusions vary between them. Some provide more opportunity for personalization in destination, others include more and offer additional structure. Should you wish to discuss further, please reach out to our sales team and they can pair you with the tour style best suited to your needs.
Negative experience: G Adventure .hope you check 12th August in Twiga lodge safari the guide .he is so Rude, ignorant .
Hi Sahara, Thank you for sending through your feedback; I appreciate it. I'm unable to find your account in your system with the name provided here but if you email [email protected] we will happily investigate further.
Fantastic experience: Thanks to Washington and Maria in Cusco, Peru. My experience of the 4 days/3 nights Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was outstanding. From the welfare of the porters to the knowledge and professionalism shown by our tour guides. The food was excellent as was the camp locations. I was very fortunate to be with a great group on my trek.
Hi Kev, Thanks so much for the kind words! Can't wait to have you back.
Negative experience: Worst customer service I have experienced. They do not listen. I am booked on a trip to the 5 stans and trying to organise visas but somehow they are too incompetent to distinguish Turkmenistan and Tajikistan and keep sending me the wrong visa instructions and also denying that I need a visa when after contacting the embassies and a few quick google searches, I know that it is necessary. It would be helpful if they actually looked this information up and listened properly to the customer rather than jumping to conclusions.
Hi Priya, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding Visas. Please know that I've passed your comments to our sales team and requested they have a look into your file. Please accept my heartfelt apologies for your unmet expectations.
Negative experience: G Adventures has lost its appeal. My recent trip to Thailand was highly disappointing. The package barely covers transportation and accommodations, leaving meals and activities requiring additional fees. Optional activities are significantly pricier than if booked directly with local companies, and there are much better choices if you do a bit of research. The CEO strongly insists on tipping for services already paid for, citing support for local communities. If G Adventures charges us so much, why not allocate those funds directly to locals? Furthermore, there were some problems that arose on the trip, yet despite raise these with the CEO, she refused to help, then directed me to get in touch with G Adventures. Two emails and a week later, still no response!
Hi Simon, Thanks for taking the time to send through your feedback; I'm sorry to learn that we failed to meet your expectations. Please, if you haven't done so already, email [email protected] and they will happily investigate further.
Negative experience: Please AVOID. I booked a trip with Gadventures to Kilimanjaro Marangu route as my friend chose them. Firstly, they lied about the success rate on the Marangu (they said it was 86% and this isn’t tue is barely 45%) and the process of acclimatisation, when I expressed concerns about how fast we seemed to be climbing - summitting on the third night! -. I was told we could hike high and sleep low and this didn’t happen. The way the portray the trip as a 7 day is also deceiving, it’s a 5 day climb and you sleep 4 days in the mountain and 2 in a hotel. So 6 nights. Secondly, On their trip details they also state that single travellers will share tents with those from the same gender. This is also a lie. My friend and I are both female and we were asked to share with 2 males - which we declined, then with a couple from a different group - which we declined too!-.In the last hut we had to share with a couple and two males from our group as again no huts available and the couple had to sleep on mattresses on the floor. Furthermore, they allow they or the agency they use in Tanzania pay peanuts to the porters and allowed them to sleep on tables there weren’t enough rooms in the huts for them. Appalling. Certainly avoid climbing with them or the Marangu route. I have been to the Himalayas before and climbed 5,600 peaks and I have never seen this level of people being ill and this disregard for health and safety of both climbers and porters and guides.
Negative experience: Away for a month with G Adventures. After 11 days still unable to find my lost luggage. No help from tour rep.
Hi Louise, Thank you for reaching out. I had a look and was unable to find you in our systems. Could you please email [email protected] with your booking information, and we will happily investigate further.
Negative experience: booked a tour and had it confirmed so booked all my flights etc - tour cancelled with no replacement… very poor, would not recommend
Hi Zoe, Thank you for your review. I'm unable to find you in our system with only your last initial, but if you email your booking information to [email protected], we can review with our sales management team.
Negative experience: G adventures is no Good any more. My recent trip in Egypt has been really disappointing. Not much is included except for transport and hotels. Meals and activities need extra fees. All those optional activities are found out being several times more expensive than you directly book with local companies. CEO would “strongly” push you to pay tips for every service you already paid a big money for, saying “helping local people”. Since G already charge us so much, why don’t G directly pay local people more to help them? Why G has to say my tips are essential for their living? Also, on my booking confirmation of extra activities, it clearly says tipping is included in my paid price, but how they work is the other way around. CEO also started by bringing us to some shops and restaurants that charge much higher prices than listed on menu prices or real prices. They tried to hide the menu but we found out on site and confronted.
Hi Louis, Thank you for taking the time to reach out with your feedback here. I'm unable to find you in our systems using this name, but if you email [email protected], we will happily investigate your experience further.
Hi Carlos, Thank you for taking the time to send through your feedback surrounding the Hostel Peten Express. Please know that I hear you and I've forwarded your comments on.
Negative experience: I've been travelling with g adventures since 2015 on 7 tours and unfortunately it's no longer the same company it used to be. My most recent trip to SE Asia with g was the worst travel experience of my life. G states it value customer experience, safety and service; none are true anymore. Problems: brown water coming out of taps, unable to wash for 3 days in a hot and sweaty climate fire broke out in wooden bungalow due to lack of electrical safety standards (exposed wiring in wooden buildings where water leaks onto said wires) bed bugs holes in mosquito nets Ant infestation mould standing water for insects under bungalows that were not properly sealed allergies made clear to guide, yet upon arrival food ordered set off allergies and i had to take medicines otherwise would have ended up in hospital or dead 8 allergic reactions in 4 days, resulting in severe rashes on neck and feet. Caused burning pain, bleeding, pus therefore unable to wear shoes or tops without further pain and suffering - 1 month for recovery, first week back my neck scaled up, was burning/stinging, itchy and my skin had gone grey. activities both included and optional were either horribly executed or extremely misleading in description and price. examples below Angor Wat is an amazing site, but the tour guide selected would constantly go on rants while the group stood in mid day heat (30-40C) with no shade, putting everyone at risk of sunstroke/dehydation. There was no adaptation to conditions and not only that but he took up most of the time explaining every detail on each and every wall of the site. This meant that we would only have maybe 5-10 mins to do any actual exploration of the sites and it was so rushed we didn’t get to enjoy the temples. The “floating village” was $25 each for an hour long ride in a “boat” that was constantly getting stuck, vibrations gave everyone back/bottom pains and to top it off there was not even 10 buildings total around, so to call it a village is not even remotely accurate. On top of that when we arrived there we just circled a couple of houses and headed back. It was a complete waste of time and money, a sentiment that was shared among the whole group. For 2 makeshift boats of 7 people based on what I remember that comes to $350, there is no way it cost anywhere close to that in fuel and time even after you deduct the tour company fee these are just a few of the problems we had on our tour, there are plenty more but it would take an essay to describe them all Overall for what the tour cost compared to what we got in return, including the activities felt like a money grab and there doesn’t seem to be any consideration for the health of the travellers. I’ve never in all my years travelling solo or with g adventures had to go to the pharmacy/hospitals so many times. The fact that every single person on the tour suffered in one way or another from health issues, something I’ve never seen before on a tour. Cost of tour for 2 people not including flights, visas, spending money: £4000+ Refunded amount after contacting the company and describing all issues: £300 Also their investigation process is a joke here is one of their findings: "Regarding the fire - the tour guide was not informed of this. The owner of the property advised there was a short circuit to the breaker, but there was no fire so the group was not in danger" which is hilarious as 4 people from our group including myself watched the staff put out the fire in the common area avoid this company like covid, just turned into a massive money grab with no concern for safety, experience or customer service
Hi James, Thank you for taking the time to send through your constructive feedback; I sincerely appreciate it. Please know that I hear you and I'd like to extend my heartfelt apologies for your expectations not being met during your time with us. Our Customer Solutions team is available to discuss your experience further should you wish to reach out.
Negative experience: Recently used G adventures for our honeymoon trip to Kilimanjaro - we could no have been more disappointed. Staff were only out for their own adjenda, they continually forced tips or additional purchases on you (in front of a group to make sure it was embarrassing for you to opt out). They did not respect the average pace of the group, despite having numerous guides we were forced to walk together at the slowest most painful pace meaning we always got to camp after dark in the cold, there was no time for enjoyment or rest and some dinners were made more basic to accommodate the late arrival time (which was only needed by one or two member of a 12 person group). They also did not treat the porters fairly so for many reasons I would never recommend to use G adventures for your trip. They also made us pay additional charges for transport from the mountain despite it being included in our package - they know once your there and cornered you have no option but to give them more cash.
Hi Claire, Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience in Tanzania. Please know that your comments have been passed to our local operations and product teams to review for future departures. Client feedback is the best way to ensure we are continually improving and is, as such, incredibly valuable.
Fantastic experience: I undertook a tour of India in 2020 and I have just completed another in Cambodia with G Adventures. For me, they provide ideal breaks for those uninclined to lie on a beach for 2 weeks Each 9 day trip felt like 3 weeks, as they pack in so much to do, albeit there is no obligation to attend every activity. As well as the famous attractions, they add in parts that are rarely seen by most tourists. I understand 93% of their services are all local companies rather than international brands. The guides were excellent and organisation very thorough. However, I would recommend just checking you have the right amount of currencies and the advice was out of date on the Cambodia trip.
Hi Arron, Thanks so much for the kind words! We sincerely appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: Great, tours and easy to get hold of when you need to. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
Hi Joseph, Thanks so much! Glad to hear you enjoyed your time with us.
Negative experience: I booked an iconic Peru tour with g adventures and at very short notice they cancelled the last four days of my tour, the rest of the tour was good however to be honest I only think the Incan trail is worth the additional money you pay to travel with g adventures the rest of the activities would have been much cheaper with another provider
Hi Andrew, Thank you for the constructive feedback. We appreciate it very much. Please know that we've taken your comments on board.
Fantastic experience: Second G adventure trip to India. No complaints at all just a few things I would like to point out for future trips. First of all our CEO Sanjay was fantastic . There were 16 in our group which I personally think is too many for a small group tour . Would have preferred up to 12 max. There was a lot of travelling involved as we covered a vast area . Unfortunately it meant we only spent one night in some amazing places where we would have been happy to spend longer. However this was a fantastic trip and will definitely be travelling with g.adventures again.
Hi Heather, Thank you for taking the time to send through your thoughts. Our world deserves more you!
Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted, I've booked 4 holidays over several years with G ADVENTURES. I've been told by my GP I cannot travel on my upcoming trip due to a ruptured disc in my neck and have been told by G adventures I cannot move to a different date and that they will be stealing the £1000 I paid for the trip with no refund alternative dates. Me and my partner will never use this company again! Disgraceful.
Hi Adam, Thank you for your feedback; I hope you're feeling much better now. I've reviewed your file and see that you've been in touch with our sales management team who worked toward a resolution for you. Please, should you have further questions, do not hesitate to continue that conversation.
Negative experience: The group I was with were all lovely and made the trip great however the tour guide was useless, he had never been to the country before so had no tips or ideas for anyone and after us having paid £1000 or so it seemed like we just paid for a hello in the morning! We weren’t kept up to date in advance and it felt like they cheaped out on some areas of the tour (being moved to a smaller boat and only a 1 night Whitsunday stay when we paid for 2 nights on a bigger boat). I think for what we got it was overpriced, the only difference between us and the “guide” was us paying and him being paid. Having heard of other tours with great leaders it really felt like we were missing out and had been forgotten about. Never the less, Australia is a amazing country! I’m also aware myself and others from my tour left honest reviews after attending in Nov and no one’s heard back from G Adventures or seen the reviews anywhere for the public’s use.
Negative experience: Dont book and travel with Gadventures! The tours are badly described, you never know what you get. Tour guides (CEOs) are not competent to fix problems or make changes eg if accomodations are not adequate or services are missing. They are not a serious travel agency as legally they can do what ever they want. No european law can be applied (the company is located in caribean) so you will never get your money back. Never again!
Positive experience: I would like to thank our amazing G Adventures Team (led by the wonderful Iddy Mbalamwezi) for making our dream a reality and for forever changing our lives. Their attentiveness, professionalism and genuine concern for everyone in our group had made our trip to Mt Kilimanjaro unforgettable. They made us feel welcomed and went above and beyond to ensure we summited safely. Iddy and Zablo even mended my partner's hiking boots by hand-stitching them back together. They are great assets to G Adventures and we wish them all the best. I hope other customers would have the pleasure of climbing Mt Kilimanjaro with these wonderful Tanzanians who have a heart of gold! Moving forward, I hope G Adventures as a company do right by them and support them-- starting with upgraded technical gear to ensure they can continue to do their jobs safely and comfortably. At times, it felt like their gear was insufficient and as a customer of a “luxurious adventure holiday”, we could not help but feel bad for them. Their gear did not reflect how professional and technically proficient they were in climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world. It does not reflect well in G Adventures, especially when we have seen many other groups that ARE better equipped. Knowing this is a Canadian company, it is safe to say that their Canadian counterparts will not be left on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro without sufficient technical gear. The Guides and G Fighters in our team are the most hard-working and passionate people we have ever encountered and we would love for them to fulfil their roles with the same safety and comfort they granted us.
Negative experience: Booked a GA tour through STA travel a third party they use, tour got cancelled half way. No response from GA or STA. Completely washed their hands. If you want a budget tour dressed up as something fancy then this the tour company for you !
Negative experience: Make your own decision. Each experience is different.
Negative experience: Booked but yet to travel on my trip. Contacting customer services is a nightmate once they have taken your deposit
Negative experience: Impossible to book anything! I tried to book a £1,800 Central America online and I was told I was the 'incorrect age' for a trip that you need to be 18-39 for (I am 39 at the time of travel). No-one answers the phone. No-one replies to online queries.
Negative experience: Would love to comment on how the tour was but the booking process was so painful I didn't even get to that point. 1. Tried booking online, but page got stuck on 'Your booking is being processed', tried the next day and on a different browser and still the same issue. 2. Called up to book, and requested a call back, but I did not get one. 3. Called again, on hold for an hour, got through to an advisor and went through the tour I wanted. The confirmation email received had errors in the booking and the invoice had a higher amount than advertised online. 4. Tried calling again, on hold for an hour and the phone cut out. 5. Tried contacting someone through the chat, waited an hour, told me I was next in line and then I get a message saying there is no advisors available to chat. The most difficult booking experience of my life. Just hope for those that actually get on a tour that the experience is better.
Fantastic experience: I traveled with GADVENTURES to South Africa - the safari in Kruger National Park. It was absolutely fantastic experience. Beautiful nature, the animals and so well organised. Our local tour guide (Dee), our driver Sam and everyone else involved were professional, friendly, and made our trip unforgettable. I definitely recommend using this company.
Fantastic experience: Great experience, brilliant guides and customer service. I'd definitely book with them again. G Adventures was recommended to us by a family member who had been to Machu Picchu a few years ago. For what is offered they are in the same price range as similar groups so we booked with them. The booking process was quite straightforward. Though there were many sections and a fair bit of prep, the website lays out all the things you need to get done and when you need them done by, and they are very helpful when you call or email them to sort this out. Our airline changed our flights a couple of times and each time, a phone call to G Adventures or use of the live chat feature on their website was all we needed to update our details once the deadline on the website for edits had passed. LATAM airline lost our luggage on the way to Peru which was a nightmare but G Adventures made it bearable, from the moment we were picked up at the airport to the moment we were dropped back off we were looked after well and they were very helpful. They didn't need to help us contact the airline and try to get our luggage but they did. Many thanks to Teresita in the office in Cusco who did before and during our hike, she also replied to my messages out of office hours which was very much appreciated. The tour itself is a difficult 4 day hike but the tent accommodation and excellent food made by the cooks with just a few pots and pans and fire was very impressive. A large team of porters carries the camping kit plus a bit of your own items to each camping site and sets it up for you. They put us to shame as they jogged past with over 20 kilos on their backs in trainers whilst we struggled up with trek boots and hiking poles! The guides Victor and Walter were very knowledgeable about the local area and the trail itself and gave a detailed history of the Inca people and the sites we visited on the way. 2 guides managed a group of 16 hikers very well and answered every question throughout the journey. They went out of their way to help me plan the perfect spot to propose to my fiancee and had my camera ready to snap the moment too. For anyone considering the Inca Trail hike, it is tough but achievable. I'm a chubby Brit with an office job but managed it with the slow group (or 'scenic squad' as we liked to call ourselves) and the views were certainly worth it. I would highly recommend this company for once-in-a-lifetime holidays. Before our next big adventure to another country I will definitely be taking a look at what G Adventures have to offer there.
Fantastic experience: Best tour company I have ever booked with, great customer service, tours live up to their expectations and so much more! Support at home and abroad is 5 star. Prices are a bit expensive compared to others but the service is so much better compared to other tour companies I've used. I will only ever use G Adventures
Negative experience: Trip cancelled, refund refused! I was booked on a trip, which I understand had to be cancelled. That’s no problem. However, there is a huge problem when I asked for my deposit back. Despite receiving an email, which included this extract “ Should none of the options outlined work for you, we acknowledge your right to a refund.”, I was told that I can’t have a refund and instead have to have a lifetime deposit! What makes this company think that I could trust them again, when they can’t keep their word? Shocking and I think that I’ll avoid this mob in the future!
Fantastic experience: I had a couple of successful G tours pre Covid which were great, takes all of the stress out of multi location holidays. Since Covid customer service has been great, we've had two holidays cancelled, including one while we were on it and the borders started closing, and they've been quick with issuing travel credits or rebooking every time.
Fantastic experience: The best trip I've ever done was to California with G Adventures. It was 15 days tour starting from and ending in Los Angeles. I visited so many places (LA, San Diego, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, San Francisco, all the California seaside) in 2 weeks with amazing people starting from the local guide (Carson) and the bus driver. The 20 people group was awesome, made by people that came from all over the world. I really hope to travel again with G Adventures as soon as possible!
Negative experience: I have done about 8 G adventures trip around the world. Last time I spoke on phone n they based in South Africa. Line wasn't clear n the person didn't have much knowledge nor experience. Then line cut off.
Fantastic experience: Had an excellent holiday with these guys December 2019
Negative experience: Avoid this shambles of a tour operator at all costs. I cancelled my trip to America with G Adventures in April 2020 due to concerns over the camping accommodation (rather than the potential impact of COVID19). I was initially given a refund period of 4-6 weeks, which slowly escalated to 16 weeks, then 20-24 weeks all without prior warning that an extended refund period could happen. The communication from G Adventures throughout this was very poor, and no one seemed to take accountability for the delay in the refund processing. All requests to ecalate the complaint to a manager were also ignored. I eventually received my refund (minus the £100 lifetime deposit, which I won't be using) in August, over 4 months after my first refund request. I'll count myself lucky as quite a few other Google reviewers have said that they have not been refunded at all..but would not recommend this travel company to anyone.
Negative experience: I had requested for a refund on a cancelled Covid-19 trip in mid-April, but they would only provide 110% credit, then they finally sent an email in late May, agreeing to issue a refund ASAP before Jan 2021, but it's the end of August now and I still haven't received a refund after 4 months...what's taking so long? All they have done is try and sell me another trip which I have refused. So I would say...if you're going to cancel your trip, don't expect a refund until a year later!
Fantastic experience: Such a fun adventure with GAdventures on the Thailand Hike Bike and Kayak! For a beginner (and a coeliac and vegan) it was so useful to have a guide with us!
Negative experience: G adventures are refusing to refund our trip which was due to take place in April. We are in our 70's and were travelling to see our children and grandchildren. We are now unlikely to make that trip and we have lost our savings. We need the money as we had planned to let our house to finance the trip. Trailfinders are providing a refund. G adventures have absolutely refused. We need help now.
Negative experience: AVOID Gadventures! They are refusing to refund their customers! I have three emails which states my tours are CANCELLED yet they keep saying they don’t have to refund me because they suspended their tours. I imagine I’ll get the same copy/paste message as others on this page. My tour was cancelled when I was due to depart within days. I received no communication and only found out through a social media post (at which point I emailed to find out my tour was CANCELLED, not suspended). Regardless, suspension isn’t even used in their terms and conditions. They’re breaking their own Ts and Cs (which they changed after cancelling the tours) are going against UK consumer rights laws and breaking the package holiday laws. They’ve treated me very poorly, with rude emails and a final “we won’t talk to you anymore, take the voucher or take us to court”. Appalling service, appalling attitudes, appalling company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Negative experience: I booked a tour of Morocco for March and, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was cancelled by G Adventures. I contacted them shortly after cancellation to be told that it was only "suspended" and that they would only be offering credit, no refunds. This not only goes against their own Terms and Conditions that I signed to at the point of buying the tour, but it directly disobeys UK law, particularly the Package Travel Regulations of 2018, which states that customers must be offered a refund. I have been chasing them for a refund only to be told in no uncertain terms to either take the credit as offered or pursue legal action. Meanwhile, they are still selling tours on their website and hoarding my money. Despicable! DO NOT TRAVEL WITH G ADVENTURES!
Negative experience: They cancelled our tour and are refusing to give a refund. Check them out on twitter and look at all the complaints! #thieves
Negative experience: Climbed kilimagero in april 2019 ,was not a good experience with this company .i made it to base camp but i was very undermined by the leader james .i felt humiliated he put me at the front when i was the slowest all week .it ruined the experience.the food is terrible too .deeply upset me for a very long time.
Fantastic experience: I just came back from a tour in Australia. Great company to travel with especially if you are a solo traveller. You get to meet so many new people, most from the group are solo too. Hostels were all clean and safe. Did not have an issue with food, very accommodating to whatever your dietary preference is. I'm gluten free and vegan and I had no issue. Overall I had an amazing time travelling with G adventures across Australia. Made many new friends and the local tour CEOs we had were brill! Thanks Georgia and Nick for being fab tour guides :-)
Fantastic experience: Great tours. Most ethical and fun your company I know.
Negative experience: Will never book a holiday with G Adventures again. An atrocious experience. They pack their mini-coach to capacity, such that you are so cramped for hours on the road, with no room to sneeze. Their tour guides run their tours like army sargeants. I've never experienced such aggressive attitude when on holiday, and don't expect that from a tour guide that is with you the entire trip. They never stick to the tour description or full itinary that you buy into, so expect disappointment and lack of planning.
Negative experience: At first I was reading reviews online about this company about their tours, I was 50/50 because of some good and some bad reviews, but decided to give it a try. It turned out that those bad reviews were right, one of the reviews written 5 years ago said the exact same travel package, exact same story and feelings I got from my last trip with G. When the sales told me about the "optional activities" will be arrange locally, never trust them... because it will be arranged by yourself from booking the entry tickets to finding transportation to get to the attractions. And some that they claim for half day "optional activities" ended up being too far from where we settled down, and because of the "orientation walk", we ended up not being about to get do it... the option was to either skip the "orientation walk", which was included in the tour package, or go on the walk and forget about the half day "optional activities"... I don't mind paying money upfront for a sales to arrange it for me, but paying to do the work myself... I might be better off booking my own real local tours, I would have more local experience and learn more from the real locals. If the "optional activities" are not doable, then don't list it to give misleading information to the customers. I will probably go back to those places that I missed out seeing, but this time with a different company that does offer those options. This company has not changed since 5 years ago based on the reviews, but still wants people to write an evaluation at the end of their vacation. What's the point of an evaluation/survey when you don't use the comments to improve. Then you get these "local tour guide" telling/begging the tourists to write a good review for them, give them 9/10 or 10/10, else their jobs would be at risk. This to me basically sounds like that they know they are not doing their job well, but still try to use people's empathy to cover up their incompetence and get good reviews. The company knows that the evaluation is a waste of people's, that's why there's a 5% discount for the next trip if you finish the evaluation. The fact is, a customer will complain using any method if they find the need to, with or without an evaluation. I saw people reviews said this tour company used to be good when it first started... but not anymore, maybe the vision from the beginning is not aligning with the vision now... I hope there would be improvements taken in account of those reviews, but probably I won't be there to know.
Fantastic experience: Great food and lovely nostalgic atmosphere
Negative experience: Food good girl with glasses must have been having a bad day Very rude
Fantastic experience: What a magnificent office!
Fantastic experience: Amazing life changing experience through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Bryson the CEO and Zuze the driver were both excellent and worked tirelessly to keep to schedule and create a good team bond. The Okavango Delta polers were superb hosts for the camping trip. Could not thank them all enough and would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone with a spirit of adventure and a respect for nature. Thank you Elaine Cassar
Fantastic experience: We have just returned from the Borneo Experience with G Adventures. It was the most amazing time. A group of people coming together for the first time from different places around the world, all ages. Our guide Roxanne was great. She would brief us every night for the next morning with what time we would meet, what to wear, what to bring with us and she got us everywhere and we visited many places over the 14 days without any problems. From my experience I would definately recommend.
Negative experience: Great holiday but ruined by the fact our guide got it on with one of the guests, making for an awkward atmosphere the whole time.
Fantastic experience: Amazing tour company. Unique tours, prompt customer service, all booked on my second tour less than a month after my first one ended!
Fantastic experience: Great Office, Even better customer service! Really care about their customers!
Fantastic experience: What an amazing service, I just booked my dream trip!!!
