CLC World Travel Centre Manchester: Reviews
Negative experience: I am extremely dissatisfied with the service I received from Travel Counsellors, particularly from Sarah Smith. We had originally booked a trip to the UK, but unfortunately, 20 days before the flight, I had to cancel it. When I contacted the agent, I was informed that the tickets were "amendable but NOT refundable." However, I later discovered that I should have changed the tickets to another date before the departure date. The agent never mentioned this crucial detail and assumed that I wanted to forfeit the entire $2000 cost. In all my years of travelling, I have never lost the full cost of a ticket. I have either paid for flight changes or received credits. My discussions with Air Canada indicated that a credit should have been issued, or at the very least, the agent should have helped me rebook the flights for a later date. Sarah did not provide a clear explanation of the ticket conditions or the time constraints for amending them; she simply allowed the tickets to expire. This is completely unacceptable. The absolute minimum that any agent should do is fully explain the situation to a client and make every effort to salvage some value from the tickets. If I had been informed of the necessary steps and deadlines, I could have made the changes myself. Unfortunately, all my attempts to receive a credit or even an apology have been ignored. I strongly advise staying away from this business.
Negative experience: Booked a holiday to Grenada the island and CLC sold me hotel in Granada, Spain, I was homeless
Negative experience: Rang me up to tell me that I had "WON" a holiday with no strings attached. Even made a really big thing about it over the phone. But it turned out to be timeshare selling with over-aggressive salesmen. Total Con .. stay away from this horrible lying company. BTW read the other reviews, is it suspicious that all the "good one" seem to mention sales people by name (dodgy). Don't believe the positive ones ... IT IS A TOTAL SCAM !!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Made to feel welcome and looking forward to some great holidays with them
Fantastic experience: Great 3 hrs spent here
Negative experience: treated very rudely by staff, traveled over 150 miles under false pretences, took ages to get a refund for deposit paid, spoilt our couple of days away, Avoid!!!.
Negative experience: **DO NOT SIGN A CONTACT WITH CLC** If I could give CLC a score of zero it would still be too high! I was sold a trial memebership with the promise of high quality, low cost holidays for my family but in reality the resorts are medium in quality and all I've been faced with is unavailability! I took the first "free" week in Spain last year and since then wherever I have tried to book the destination has been unavailable. I have 5 weeks to use before February 2021 and I've only been able to secure 1 week in Spain (AGAIN). I've ended up trading one week into interval despite the extra cost in an attempt to use a week but guess what?? I was again faced with UNAVAILABILITY! In a desperate attempt to use a week I paid an additional cost to holiday in the UK during school time as this was the only time they had available, so I've ended up holidaying without my children! So now I'm stuck with 3 more weeks I'm unable to use but still have to pay for. When I contact CLC they just say "everything is limited to availability" and keep offering me holidays in Turkey despite their accommodation dates not matching any flight details so if I took the holiday I would be without accommodation when I arrived but in their eyes they've offered a suitable alternative...... CLC are very clever in the way they sell the product and promise you the world when in reality IF you can manage to use any of your weeks the product is just in fact average. I've seeked legal advice on this and the way CLC have worded the terms and conditions of the contact means you are not covered by standard legal procedures as what you would if it was a standard time share so I am unable to seek any refund or compensation for the product I have purchased but unable to use! I warn anyone who is contacted or tempted to go to a CLC meeting to not fall into the same trap as I did. CLC is an absolute joke and that's putting it politely.
Negative experience: It's just like a fraud.
Fantastic experience: We went to Manchester office where our sales rep Vika looked after us over the whole time extremely well. She explained how the club worked and demonstrated a number of high quality resorts available to CLC members and their partners. Vika was at tentative and listened to our needs, she even showed available options if we ever travelled with our dog. The offering was certainly very appealing but probably just not the right thing at this time. We'll definitely consider CLC in three future
Negative experience: Don't go. We were there for four hours they said 90 minutes for a( FREE HOLIDAY )
Negative experience: BIGGEST FRAUD ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH. STAY AWAY
Fantastic experience: Excellent customer service, friendly staff
Positive experience: Classy
Negative experience: I turned up late for 90 minute presentation. completed forms in a rush. accidently ticked i am a tenant in a rush and i was turned away. we took a day off work. paid £100 for private care for my babies. spent £50 on fuel to travel and then turned away. terrible service and no understanding to correct a slight form completion
Negative experience: About a week ago we received a phone call saying that we've been selected to enjoy a week in one of their wonderful resorts. I was naturally sceptic, but was told that I'm guaranteed to get my free accommodation for 1 week worth of up to £1k - all we had to do is to pay £90 refundable deposit to book our slot at the presentation. Apparently the reason behind them giving away these holidays is for people to try their accommodation and spread the word about how great they are. On the day, right at the beginning I made myself clear that we are not planning on buying / subscribing to anything, but they insisted to watch the presentation and see how we feel after that. Lots of question especially related to our holiday habits - how often, where and how much we spend a year. When we said we usually rent holiday villas when we go on holidays - both manager and the representative lady burst in laughter saying "so what are you doing here if you're not staying in resorts"? A bit rude we both found. The devil's in the detail - in this case it really is. Most people probably lost interest after the first few minutes of the presentation featuring stock imagery loaded with happy faces and nice, spacious apartments, but I was reading closely of what it presented and what the advisor was telling us. They used the phrase "...you can stay with us for up to 19 years - after 19 years you are free to leave...". Also - we were working on the assumption that we usually have 2 weeks of holidays so they split what we spend on it into a monthly spending, but then the presentation displayed the slide which says that your membership gives you 1 week at one of the resorts in a year. Also - the properties they list on their site and in all brochures are for members only - we have been shown the pictures of the apartment the free voucher entitles us to and believe me - it's not somewhere I would want to stay one night. Apparently these are very old and ones in Tenerife might not even have the air con (countries like Cuba have air con in all properties - so you can only imagine the quality of this free accommodation). An hour later, after constantly hearing "how does it sound to you?" I just replied "We are not going to buy what you are selling" - at which point the representative lady got very stroppy saying that I don't have to be so rude and that she's just doing her job etc. - at what point the manager showed up and said there's no point in us continuing - making our visit only 1 hour long. We got the holiday voucher as well as shopping vouchers, but on the way back home, my wife read the T&C from the voucher and we just decided it's not worth the energy. They list things like: "You will be asked to pay at the time of booking a room guarantee deposit of £100, which is fully refunded to the payment card used upon full confirmation of your travel details. Should you choose to travel during school holiday dates you will also be asked to pay supplements of £29 per person at the time of booking and provide confirmation of your travel details within 48 hours of the date of booking. The school holiday supplements are non-refundable unless you change your booking to a non-school holiday date... Date changes are subject to availability and an administration fee of £49." "During your stay you will be required to attend a presentation featuring the wider range of freehold and fractional CLC World developments around the world, during which you are under no obligation to purchase. Failure to attend or if you do not meet the qualifying criteria set out, will result in you being charged a maximum of £500 to subsidise accommodation costs." To us it certainly doesn't sound like relaxing holidays - bear in mind they only give you "FREE" accommodation - you still have to pay for a flight and food etc. There is more, but I hope this gives you an idea of what you're up agains when you pick up the phone and hear that "You've been chosen..." message.
Negative experience: After a very patient and very understanding 2 hour presentation from Vika at Manchester, such a shame that we can't give the same compliments to Sales Manager Julian. Extremely rude and abrupt closure to our meeting, if my partner and I had been given just 5 minutes alone to discuss between us, today's meeting would have had a different conclusion. Such a shame as Vika was a role model for excellent customer relations. Perhaps the sales management team need to reconsider their 'sales model'! I have worked in sales for nearly 30 yrs, in many sectors and fields, including 7 years in international travel and hospitality and catering, and have never been told "I'll take that as a NO then". I understand the regulations regarding pressure sales, but I'll like to add a new regulation to the CLC sales manual, it is 5 o'clock and we don't care what your decision is, we want to go home!! Julian is from Florida and he now works in the UK, particularly in the North West. Perhaps if he was as experienced as he insisted he was, maybe he needs a course of customer cultural relations?
Fantastic experience: Its all good, they provided everything as promised - no hard sell - free holiday and vouchers, wasn't for us but overall great experience
Negative experience: Scam
Fantastic experience: Back from a presentation today and both my husband and myself were very impressed with the whole set up. The sales people Kart and Jamie at the Manchester office were very welcoming and professional. They explained the product very well and there was no hard sales pitch. On the contrary they explained everything in detail and how the finances worked comparing it to our current spending. The cost for a very high end plush product was very appealing with regards to the price allowing world travel to 5 star resorts at an affordable price. Sadly our travel plans at this time are very different to what is being offered so we had to decline. However, we both feel we will revist the CLC World option in the future. We thought it was all a very good marketing set up and emphasise that there was no hard sale. We were rewarded with £50 M&S vouchers and a weeks free accommodation for our time. We look forward to seeing what is on offer at one of their resorts over the next 12 months
Positive experience: After arriving we were introduced to Les and Julien. Les took us through each element of the process, from the short film all the way through each process. At times it did appear a little scripted but I do understand the personnel do have a process to follow. At no time did we feel pressured into signing anything, and the atmosphere was quite relaxed and pleasant. The type of places that you get to visit with CLC are very much at higher end rather than your package holiday, but not necessary at the high end cost as it was explained, it isn't a timeshare as you aren't restricted to an individual place, but you can travel the world over at an affordable rate. It did look very appealing and all in all, it looked very good value for money and we were tempted. If you are the type of person that a holiday is an annual necessity, then I would recommend this wholeheartedly as it appears very cost effective with some stunning villas and locations, unfortunately at present we view a holiday still as a luxury, as we spend the majority of spare cash on our home, and as such decided to decline the offer, but in the future we would definitely revisit CLC World Travel.
Fantastic experience: I was very wary that this place was a scam but I can assure you that no hard sale was given and all promises were kept. If you do not like what you see then you just walk away after the presentation and say no thank you. For us at the present time the pitch was not something for us but we are looking forwards to the free week holiday and maybe in the future it will be something we are interested in. We was also given £75 of tesco vouchers to spend. John and Jamie our agents were fab. Thank you both and thank you clc for our week holiday which is already booked for June next year to Costa del sol :)
Fantastic experience: We just come out of the clc travel centre after the presentation and our advisor Laurence was extremely helpful, kind and very professional aswell as sam the sales manager. Ther was no presure and we were extremely pleased with the overall experience. Unfortunately we could not sign up as we have upcoming wedding and we had priority finances. If we had no upcoming commitments then we would of DEFINITELY singed up but after our wedding we are going back to see them. My advice, if you have no comments the DEFINITELY go for it. See yous soon CLC. Lee Pain & Kerry Smith.
Positive experience: Mike and Jamie were very friendly, not pushy at all and gave as much information as we needed to help us to make our mind up
Negative experience: This is a deal to good to be true. On the day you will get two people talk to you almost good cop / bad cop. Laurence was really good with us told us from the outset that there was no pressure to sign up. The sales agent Sam was very annoying. Walked away in a bit of a sissy fit when I said we were not going to sign up. The more research I have done leads me believe that this is a timeshare and nothing else.
Fantastic experience: Visited the office and had a "tour" of their worldwide properties and the various vacation and holiday plans. Jaime and Kart know their stuff and developed a high-value offering. Thanking them for their good work.
Positive experience: Good friendly knowledge staff in a comfy relaxed atmosphere Sadly their deals didn't work for us Recieved everything the seminar offered Would recommend
Negative experience: They invite you for a free holiday opportunity and ask you to come to a meeting. They try to sell you a 19 year holiday contract. They say its not a timeshare but it kind of is. Very pushy and abrupt if you're not interested.
Negative experience: Hard sell holiday company.
Fantastic experience: Very good service and amazing deals, will be enjoying our holidays from now on with CLC WORLD!!
Fantastic experience: Love the service I received, can’t wait for my first holiday!!
Fantastic experience: it one of the best
Positive experience: Yes it's true there is a hard sell but it is not true that there is no free holiday we were allowed to walk away with the free holiday we won and vouchers. I actually think the product is good if holidays are important to you and price isn't your main filter. I did the maths on my last few holidays and they were around the same price but the quality they offer is much more. Plus as I saw it yes it's a time share but you pick your week and can go to over 50 countries so it's felt much more thab a standard time share in a villa/Hotel.
Fantastic experience: Nice folks (Ania and Sam)...they make quite a convincing pitch for their holiday packages
Negative experience: Centre was lovely... Clc were pushy and loved the hardest sell of what in essence is a time share.
Negative experience: Come to CLASS and first question all the time about my nationality when told I'm Polish Manager come told no have time to explain me anything but is Language barrier. Send me back after 10 min Racist for me
Positive experience: Good.
Negative experience: Pushy manager made agent even feel uncomfortable
Negative experience: Almost got stuck in there with a 4k bill! Good job I walked away and checked the reviews on Google .. Watch out...
Positive experience: Sales man not to pushy and an easy £50 amazon voucher. Just do the maths properly at the end and don’t forget to add on your monthly charge as well as you holiday payment ✊
Negative experience: The deal is only vaild on the day only £695 per year for 19 years for a week's acomodation, sounds good value. But you also need to pay £14995 over 10 year's oft no way. That's ok if you agree to a over priced payment plan you can have a trail for £4995 for 5 weeks over 3 years. On asking can we have a think was told no the deal of the year is only vaild for today. When I said I would not be signing a payment plan or advisor was told by a over confident manager with poor hygiene to show us straight out.
Negative experience: Beware. They just want your money. You are offered an 'award holiday. All you need to do is buy your own flights and visit CLC travel center for a 50 minute meeting to choose your holiday. That's what I was told. The caller from CLC was extremely obnoxious and pushy, trying to rush me into agreeing to visit them (you can't bring children with you). Made me suspicious. What CLC don't tell you is that you will be subjected to a 4 hour hard sales pitch on time shares. You are also expected to attend sales pitches on holiday, if you accept the 'award. Doesn't sound like much of a reward. Upon questioning caller about this, she interrupted me rudely and hung up.
Positive experience: Great presentation by Michael and Julian and a very interesting product
Fantastic experience: Really helpful staff and the product offered is an excellent opportunity to enjoy premium holidays in great locations.
Positive experience: Beautiful properties
Fantastic experience: Amazing
Fantastic experience: Very good service from Daniel
Fantastic experience: Spoke to John and Shawn today in Manchester. Fab experience and really happy to talk through all the information at my pace. No tricks or catches just the chance to join a high quality holiday club. Worth having a listen to see if it’s for you. Thanks guys x Samantha & Jonathan
Negative experience: very pushy make it hard to leave
Fantastic experience: Driving to the meeting on my mind was I'm about to be dragged into buying a time share property that i have never been keen on,i couldn't have been more wrong CLC are a sales team however what they offer is a unique opportunity to give you a holiday package that can't be beaten ,the sales team we spoke with were honest and open and made everything clear and offered a deal that can't be refused if you are regular annual holiday goers this is the most convenient way to holiday for any busy family to find a perfect holiday with the best located hotels fit for king couldn't fault them on the day apart from one of the salesmans badge was slightly wonky ,well done josh and Julian a truly magical day . Trish and Dean.
Negative experience: Robbing gits without balaclavas
Fantastic experience: Good experience and fun morning!. Good product in offer. Shawn and particularly Brigette were very thorough and professional explaining how the system works. If you like holidays consider it!. Thank you guys!.
Negative experience: Very unprofessional service. THIS IS TIMESHARE DO NOT BE FOOLED! I payed £90 upfront (silly me) to confirm my FREE over night stay to which the money is repaid back into your account once you have being to the presentation. unfortunately I cannot attend the presentation due to unforeseen circumstances, when contacting CLC I explained the problem and they refused to give me my money back!! they said I have to attend the presentation in order to get my £90 back! They also said this is in the T&C'S but to which I pointed out infact it is NOT! It simply states you get your money back after attending the presentation. It doesn't say anything about not getting your money back if you can not attend due to ill health etc. AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS! They also forget to mention you have to attend a mandatory presentation ( A FULL DAY ) on your so called FREE holiday for one of the 7 days! Save the hassle and put the phone down.
Negative experience: Invited to look at holiday options but it was very hard sell before we were abruptly asked to leave. Not the best experience.
Negative experience: Awful Very pushy sales reps
Fantastic experience: Great deals
Fantastic experience: Sean and Brigitte were fantastic at explaining everything and we thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Thank you. Brigitte we are grateful for your time and energy!
Positive experience: Really helpful and enthusiastic. Not over baring and demanding. Friendly and honest people
Negative experience: Scam
Positive experience: Get your voucher but be prepared to be sold to
Negative experience: Dunno what or wear this place is
Positive experience: Was ok. We were seen to by a great travel agent but the manager was way too pushy and just really making the agent serving us uncomfortable.
Negative experience: Don't bother
Fantastic experience: great
Positive experience: Nice offices and set up. But be very careful and do the maths before signing anything
Negative experience: AVOID THESE PEOPLE - THEY ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM. This is a company who are not up-front about their business - they are in the business of selling timeshares. I was told that I had won a holiday when in fact this is not strictly speaking the truth. I haven't 'Won' anything as I didn't enter anything. Also, they don't mention anything about timeshares when they're on the phone or in the letter that is sent. I wish I'd not given these people my details as they won't stop calling now.
Negative experience: Not a travel agent its a timeshare with a flash name
Positive experience: The product is good but it is a hard sell.
Negative experience: Full of bull
