He integrates a brilliant mix of street art, history, great chat and (very importantly for some) a number of the excellent pubs that the place is famous for. Our whole group loved the experience in spite of taking place during a semi-inevitable downpour - Highly recommended if you like something which doesn't conform to the stereotypes of what a tour should be, in the best ways...

Fantastic experience: Marti gave us an extremely exhaustive, detailed, well-informed tour, made even better with his peculiar, well-timed humor! Marti's knowledge about Belfast is enviable and his intersectional approach gives you a thorough perspective on the city. Recommended for everyone, ideally at the start of the trip, since you can easily use Marti's recos to plan the rest of the itinerary, which includes everything from free entry into galleries to pub deals. 10/10 would recommend!

Negative experience: Very odd and disappointing. Scant details in advance about what to expect on the tour and then berated by the tour guide for not having had that information. Tour guide insisted on a sprint-level walking pace for which we had neither the energy or the inclination. We bailed after 15 minutes. Caveat emptor. EDITED following the provider's response: It should be a red flag when a provider refuses any responsibility for a guest's bad experience.

Positive experience: Marti was good enough to move us, at latenotice, from a very wet Sunday evening to a sunnyish Monday morning. My feelings are mixed about the tour. Marti clearly knows Belfast inside out and back to front. He is very keen to find out what the group would like to see and does his best to fulfill expectations. he clearly loves Belfast and this shows through in his many positive comments. The reason that I only gave 3 stars is that he did not cope well with the mixed walking abilities of the group. My wife and I could keep up , but some of the group were fairly elderly and had some mobility issues. On plenty of occasions Marti would start talking before everyone had arrived at a point of interest and some of the group would miss interesting information. I would go as far as to say that he became rather impatient about the slowness of some members of the group. At the start of the tour we stayed in the same spot for about 40 minutes while Marti talked about the last 400 years of Belfast history, we all thought that this was much too long

Fantastic experience: Awesome tour full of local history and visits to local pubs and artist galleries. Lovely walk thru the wee alleyways of Belfast. Great time!

Fantastic experience: What a great tour. Marti opened our eyes to SO much in Belfast we wouldn’t have seen or noticed otherwise. The tour was tailored to us, and we were blown away by Marti’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the city. We saw a few of the other tours going round that were packed with disengaged patrons lagging along at the back, unable to hear the guide, which made us all the more grateful for finding Marti and booking a place on his eclectic tour. Without a doubt one of the most interesting and quirky tours we have been on and highly recommended for your first day in Belfast as you’ll come away knowing exactly where to go and what to do afterwards along with an appreciation for the city, it’s history and where it is striving to go in the future. Fantastic experience: Marti took us on an amazing tour of Belfast. Too many tours are focussed on re-opening old wounds. He prefers a more forward-looking approach. He explains how the community is working on coming together and healing. He doesn’t sugarcoat the context but does helpfully explain the reconciliation effort. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: The eclectic Belfast Tour by Marti was amazing. He was witty, amusing, super knowledgeable and very friendly. He took the time to get to know what we were interested in before showing us around Belfast. As the name suggests, the tour covered a mix of topics and I could not imagine anybody better placed to make it as interesting as he did. Being personable, he knew many of the owners/staff in the local buildings/venues which meant that we could go inside and learn more of the history, getting the tips and knowledge that only locals would know. Another person with us had been with a different tour company earlier in his trip and said that was a waste of time compared with what he had learned from Marti. For a 2.5 - 3 hour duration trip, the value for money is incredible and we even went for a beer at the end. This is highly recommended and I will be looking Belfastology up for another tour next time I am back in Belfast.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Marti, for the fabulous tour of Belfast. It was a great introduction for our first night and really helped us get our bearings. Marti gave us lots of info on where to visit and lots of history on the city too. We were a small group of 4 and with Marti seeming to know everyone, we were shown some fabulous buildings, pubs and hotels. We got to see inside some of them too. I would highly recommend his tour and would definitely look into doing others with him, next time we visit.

Fantastic experience: My sister and I went on this walk in December, so first and foremost bring layers and dress warm! With that said, we didn't get a chance to think about the cold too much because Marti kept a great pace and we went into so many buildings/pubs that you stay warm easily! Moving on from talking about the cold, the tour itself and everything we got to see and learned about was so amazing! Marti is very knowledgeable in every art piece we saw as well as the building we got to go into and see. He also works in some history with the tour which made for a lot of great stories!

I would HIGHLY recommend doing this when you land in the city as it'll give some amazing insights on the nightlife and the best way to experience the local culture however you want to. He was knowledgeable, and basically provided us with a personalized tour of Belfast. The street art from site to site was incredible and worth its own tour. I look forward to returning tomorrow to capture some of the incredible art scattered around this city. Fantastic experience: My partner and I only had a very short time in Belfast so we decided to book the eclectic city centre tour with Marti. It was mid week and it turned out that day it was only us. The first few minutes is an engaging history lesson on the steps of city hall, then a whistle stop tour of visiting buildings, pubs, restaurants, quirky alleyways, walls of street art, the waterfront and huge art installations……all this accompanied by Marty’s engaging, non stop commentary. Everywhere we went everyone knows Marty, he’s part of the fabric of Belfast! Fantastic experience: My sister and I arranged a walking tour, the Belfast Political Murals Street Art and Peace Fate tour for Tuesday 13th September. Due to the King's visit the tour had to be re-arranged and Marti went out of his way to fit in with our busy itinerary and even came to our hotel to collect us. He gave us an overview of the history of Northern Ireland beforehand so we would understand what we were about to see on the walk. He was extremely knowledgeable and interesting and took us to places that we wouldn't have found ourselves. He showed us murals, pubs and other points of interest including a 300 year old pub for lunch with genuine Irish stew. During the tour he conveyed his passion about people finding common ground and living in peace together. Marti was a fantastic guide and we highly recommend this tour with him.

He showed us projects and murals that are forging peace between both Protestants and Catholics, rather than focusing on what divides them. His message of love and peace is so vital. Fantastic experience: Eclectic is the perfect name for this tour. SO much information covering so many different aspects of Belfast and NI/Irish history, present, and future. The level of knowledge that Marti has is incredible, and it was fascinating watching his eyes look up to the right as though he's reading a script in the sky, as he gives an incredible level of detail about everything. The tour started with introductions, discussing what we knew, and what we wanted to get out of the tour. It followed with a detailed history of a few major points from the last few hundred years that set a foundation for what we were about to see. We then set off on a walk around the city, going through so many different streets, stopping at so many different places, and going in/out/through bars, hotels, and restaurants. He was well known in many of those places, and was welcomed by them. The tour was very personal - he remembered our names, and little details from the introduction that were frequently brought into elements of the tour. Highly recommended. Thanks Marti!

Fantastic experience: Marty was a wonderful guide starting with a potted history of Belfast and Ireland followed by a tour of the city which involved looking at the historic buildings various nooks and crannies and visiting lots of pubs which enabled us to decide where to eat and drink during our stay. We ended up eating at one of the pubs where the food was excellent and we enjoyed listening to some very good live music.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic tour that had it all - history, politics, culture, architecture, street art, bars, hotels and cafes. Definitely one to do at the start of your trip to work out where to visit and spend more time later. Marti knows and loves his city and tells stories with a unique style and dry wit. We also appreciated his willingness to tailor the tour to our interests and time commitments. We highly recommend!

Positive experience: Great tour by Marti around Belfast City centre. A lot of interesting information about the city's history is given at the beginning, followed by facts about the local buildings, then it is on to interesting sites and hidden gems and finally the growing street art scene. The time flew by, perhaps a bit rushed at the end by enjoyable nonetheless. Used the message function in Google maps to contact the organiser of the tour which was helpful and very easy to use.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I were looking for a walking tour during our stay in Belfast. Unfortunately we only had one day, but we found Marti’s Street Art, music and pub experience was still available. The group was small the night we went, so we were able to ask tons of questions as we walked through the city and admired the street art. It blew us away how much Marti knew about his city, and how passionate he is about it. He also knew a bunch of people! He took us to some community areas ie music studio and explained how Belfast is all about bringing together people and everyone supports each other. He was also very knowledgeable about all the street artists and when the works were from and what they represented. He did a fantastic job showing us the city so we had our bearings and gave us so many recommendations for off the beaten path bars and pubs (we walked through many many cool bars but no one wanted to stop for a drink as we wanted to see as much as possible). It was well worth the money, and we even got a drink with Marti after at the Crown Saloon!

Fantastic experience: I enjoyed a private version of Marti's "Eclectic Belfast" tour yesterday afternoon when I had a few hours free in Belfast. Marti was able to accommodate me at short notice and we had a relaxed walk around many of the streets and alleyways of Belfast, and a few interesting refreshment stops. The tour lives up to its name and is an eclectic mix which covers history, architecture, street art and murals and although I've previously lived in Belfast, I learned many things I had not known before. We also walked through one of Belfast's most prestigious hotels, the Merchant Hotel, on our route. Marti is a likeable and engaging character and his tours will definitely enhance your visit to Belfast and I whole-heartedly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We attended Marti’s Political Murals, Street Art and Trobles walking tour in November. We were unlucky with the weather, but Marti lead us through the storm and his tour was definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Belfast. Marti really knows what he’s talking about when it comes to history, street art and all the troubles the city has lived through. His stories brought the political murals to life and we totally enjoyed the walk despite the weather. Fantastic experience: Marti was an awesome guide! He gave an great background into Ireland's history before showing us a wide range of murals, both historical and contemporary. Fantastic experience: We (both 28, from Germany and in Belfast for two days) decided to book the political mural tour as we didn't want to take a taxi tour and wanted to do a walking tour instead. To be brief: the tour was fantastic! Our guide Marty took two and a half hours to show us many fascinating facets and corners of Belfast, taking into account our personal interests and going above and beyond to give us a window into the more recent history of Belfast. After the tour we wished that we hadn't only stayed for two days (book a week instead!) and will pass on many of Marty's recommendations and tips on to our friends, should they visit. Fantastic experience: Marti's Belfastology Tours are one of the best ways to get to know the city from many angles. During our stay in Belfast we took part in several of his tours because we liked the first one very much and Marti convinced us as a tour guide. The Eclectic City Center Tour was followed by the tour to the Peacewalls and West Belfast and finally The Pub Walking Experience Marti's knowledge of the city in which he lives and grew up has made a lasting impression on us. We have learned a lot about this breathtaking city that we have never read in any of our travel guides. Marti's insider knowledge gives you a completely different, more personal view of this city. The great thing about Marti's tours is that he doesn't follow a pattern, but also spontaneously adapts to the wishes of the participants. He helped us to understand the complex soul of this city, so that we had the impression that we really got to know Belfast after Marti's tours.
