Negative experience: Tried to book for two years and not been able to fly on 8th attempt - refused to give a refund either - wouldn't recommend

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience and John our pilot was brilliant..super smooth take off and landing .It was worth the several cancellations due to poor weathers and waiting for over two years to finally enjoy the experience on such a beautiful day today! I would recommend it for anyone who hasn't tried it!

Fantastic experience: We had the most amazing experience with Wickers World from start to end! It was pure magic. Our pilot Joe was fantastic. It was great to learn about his flying journey and grateful for his wisdom and navigation through the Peak District. We loved the fact that Wickers World is a family run business with many years of experience and history passed down from generation to generation. The customer service was excellent. I'm pretty sure we will be back in the air at another time in the future!

Fantastic experience: Amazing sunrise experience from Tissington today. We booked 2 years ago and having had 12 failed attempts (due to unsettled weather) it was most definitely worth the wait. I would like to say thank you for the 12 cancellations (bet you don’t get that often haha!) as it means you have put our safety first which I massively appreciate! This company’s Knowledgeable and friendly staff made the flight memorable and provided an overall fantastic experience from booking stage to the flight going ahead! Thank you again, we can’t wait to book again!

Fantastic experience: We arrived for the 7 am flight and was welcomed by our pilot Jon and his team. My wife and I are both 76 and not so nimble these days. No worries we were ably helped on board , though you might have laughed. We watched with great interest the inflation of the balloon and in no time at all were ready for take off. We began to rise gently and silently except for the noise from the hot air blasts. At a given height we were motionless and the silence was deafening although Jon would inform we were traveling at a speedy 10 mph. The views were outstanding and it was wonderful. After an hour drifting in the great blue it was time to descend. An experience which we did not wish to end. The landing was no cause for concern a little bump here and we were down. Would we go again you betcha, and again too.

Fantastic experience: Myself and my girls have had the most amazing experience today. The team is fantastic. On arrival we helped with the balloon. The team put everyone at ease. The flight was the best, the weather was stunning. The captain Andy was very knowledgeable about everything we could see. I can't wait to do it again. They even send you pictures and a full video at a very cheap price of £20 absolutely brilliant!!! Thanks for an amazing day today ☺️

Fantastic experience: Given a voucher as a birthday present. It did take a while to get an actual flight but this was mainly down to the weather conditions each time, so don't give up. Absolutely worth the wait. Booking is easy and staff were really helpful. As soon as you get the voucher I would advise to start booking straight away. You're never guaranteed a flight due to weather conditions. Jon, our pilot was very knowledgeable as were the two other staff with him. Great fun

Negative experience: Tried booking but was called off due to bad weather and then couldn’t get rebooked due to over subscription or travel to somewhere 2 hours away for a sunrise flight. Ended up losing my booking at £388. I would avoid this company and they are very rude.

Fantastic experience: What a fabulous day at Tissington from take off to landing what memories are made of, our pilot Andy and the two Dave's all very friendly explained everything very well, scenery and views were stunning, only had one cancellation before flying on the 27th something to remember when booking it is all dependant on the weather also when you do fly wear sturdy boots/wellies and take a hat gets a bit hot near the burners.

They said the morning was fantastic and the best thing they've done off their bucket list to date, and will be hard to top! From start to finish with myself arranging delivery of the gift box to a holiday home in Scotland, to the morning itself and sending of the photo's/video's, it's been an absolute pleasure. Negative experience: Do not use this company. I paid over £300 in total and over the last few years haven’t been able to get a booking. The lady when I spoke to her the other end even said there were many others calling up with the same issue. With covid then covid backlog then actually getting availability on their site around work and family as those spots go quickly. I even paid extra at that point to be able to use it at weekends and still nothing. Not to mention when I did book it kept being cancelled. I finally found an ideal time next month and they have told me my voucher has expired and I have to pay a further £100 if I want to use it. I’m very very upset. I’m not one to usually complain but this is a joke and the lady was very rude to me the other end

Fantastic experience: After booking the 6th time, 13/06/24, we finally had a morning suitable to fly. Beautiful area tisslington where we set off from, we helped get the balloon up and packed away after the flight. Thank you to Andy our pilot, he was very informative and gave us a great experience, thank you to Joe and the other man that helped too, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The basket was abit off a struggle getting in and out especially if your small or don't have great mobility but they do have a step you can use. We would definitely do it again and I would definitely recommend doing it with Andy (wickers world), also loved the fact that they give the farmers a bottle off whisky for landing in there fields. Amazing experience. We were the first ones to arrive and the last ones to leave.

Fantastic experience: We recently experienced a balloon flight with Wickers World and I’ve got to say the afternoon was fantastic and the pilot Jon was not only an excellent pilot but was also very entertaining and very knowledgable. It was a day that we will never forget and would highly recommend Wickers World to anyone who what’s to experience a balloon flight and please don’t get put off if you don’t get up on your first or couple attempts as it’s well worth the wait and they only have your safety at heart and if they say your can’t fly on the booked day there is a good reason for it. Fantastic experience: Book with confidence! I bought vouchers in Mar 2023 after 6 cancelled flights this was 7 time lucky! WW extended vouchers without hesitation after we'd had 4 cancelled flights in 1 yr, be realistic, book your next flight when one is cancelled. Very easy booking system, great communication from booking to actual flying. Enjoyed watching the preparation, clear instructions from Jon the pilot regarding landing! Great landing wasn't half as bad as I was anticipating (very light bumps). Flight was filmed by WW. Flight lasted about 1hr 15 mins, we all helped to deflate & put the balloon away before transported back to where we took off.

Fantastic experience: An absolutely amazing experience. I would definitely recommend a balloon ride to anyone. Before the flight which was a father's day present, I was slightly apprehensive but once I was in the basket I was really calm. The feeling as you just float off is brilliant . No jolting, no nothing except just floating in the wind and viewing your surroundings from the balloon. The pilot Jon was very informative and easy to talk to. Can't recommend this as an experience highly enough.You may have to wait for the flight depending on the weather but its an experience worth waiting for

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing time- the experience includes watching the setting up of the hot air balloon, the ride (be prepared to climb into the basket!), the landing and helping to roll up and pack up the balloon! Lots of detailed explanations which makes you realise just how much background knowledge and physical work is needed to set up a ride! Totally worth every penny and highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: An incredible experience from start to finish. Pre flight information was thorough and strongly recommend you make sure to read it all. We flew on our second attempt, but had people in our party that had taken alot more than that to get up in the air. Booking this experience does take patience and is always dictated by the weather, wind and safety conditions. First attempt we were given the green light, got to the location for 630am and then never made it in the air due to wind speed so had to be called off. However, our flight experience was WELL WORTH THE WAIT. Second attempt, we arrived at the location in Derbyshire, helped set up the balloon, were guided through health and safety and really looked after by out pilot. The morning was incredible and everyone got involved to help get the balloon ready for flight, that in itself was a beautiful experience to be part of. Our pilot was extremely knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for Derbyshire and exploring the air. We saw all of our favourite spots including Dovedale, Carsington Waters and Chatsworth. The pilot shared his experiences and favourite spots during the flight and even gave us some breakfast recommendations for afterwards. We were in the air for about an hour. Top tip - take a baseball cap it gets hot up there! Also walking boos as recommended are a must! We landed in a wet muddy field and these were essential. Our landing was bouncy so be prepared to hold on but it's fun and all part of the experience. We helped pack down the balloon and get into the bag and things on the truck before being driven back to our cars to end the morning. We were presented with our flight certificates to end the morning and left extremely happy. This was a gift for my partners 40th Birthday and was truly magnificent. We've now seen our favourite walking locations from above and created an incredible memory and experience we will never forget! We purchased the in-flight pictures to add to the others we took during the flight and looking back at them just doesn't show how magical this experience was. Amazing, customer service and communication from all staff we encountered, thank you!!

Fantastic experience: Please read before booking a balloon flight! We had an excellent experience and highly recommend them. The flights are subject to weather conditions that go beyond just wether it’s raining or not. Winds that are too strong or gusting to high make it unsafe to fly, as well as fog, mist, low cloud etc so do not presume that as long as it’s not raining your flight will go ahead. We had to reschedule four times because of weather in a five month period but there was another couple that had waited almost two years. So be prepared that you may not fly on your chosen date. That said, it was an amazing experience! Andrew, our pilot, Carl and Martin, ground crew, were all friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and most importantly all about safety. The basket holds 16 people which doesn’t feel cramped. We had a morning flight which meant being on site by 6am and we took off just after 7. We all helped set the balloon up and pack it away after. Andrew kept us informed throughout the experience and was great at pointing areas of interest out to us. The whole trip was videod, which we had the option to purchase afterwards. You need to be able to walk through fields which may be muddy so walking boots are ideal. There is some heat given off especially during take off so a baseball cap or similar is advised. As we travel the same speed as the wind, you don’t feel the wind. Climbing in and out of the basket requires good mobility. The flight was about an hour so between set up, the flight, and packing up it’s about three hours so make sure and use the toilet before hand as there aren’t any in the fields. You don’t really need anything other than your phone/camera so it’s best not to bring handbags, purses, backpacks etc. The views are great no matter where you are standing. we had such a great experience I highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: The best birthday gift ever - my mom got me a hot air balloon ride for my birthday as I've always wanted to go in one. We had booked 1 - 2 times before but was cancelled due to the weather. It is so worth the wait! I am definitely booking again, I want to do it all over again!! I was so nervous beforehand but once you are in you feel at ease. Jon our pilot was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was an amazing experience seeing all the wildlife from above, we were in the air for over an hour. I would highly recommend to anyone! It was also good fun mucking in and helping pack away the balloon. Thanks again Wickers World for providing this amazing experience.

Negative experience: The ballon experience was worth the wait. We rescheduled 5 times due to weather something no one has control over. However my low star rating is to reflect the fact that the experience is 3-4 hours and I was in the air for 50 minutes. The rest of the time we spent setting the balloon up and packing it away which is not our job. I didn’t complain on the day as we had no other choice and despite not being happy no one else complained to them either. Despite this the staff were already defensive saying that if we didn’t help we wouldn’t get a ride back to the car. If we would have known this was optional we would have arranged our own transport to ensure the experience wasn’t ruined by spending an hour putting away the balloon and rolling around in a field (no exaggeration) when we could have been on our way home reminiscing about the flight. It ruined our experience and led to this review. I would also say if you struggle with mobility at all this is not for you. So it really isn’t inclusive in a society that absolutely should be! I’m sure the company will be defensive in their response to this review which is fine because I’m only telling my truth and we all have our own versions which we are all allowed to tell. Their responses to other negative reviews show that they are not open to feedback of any sort and so only confirms my notes on my review about their defensiveness. Note to Wickers World: I won’t be looking at any responses you post back as I’m not looking for an argument just a place to tell my experience which you cannot deny. If you don’t mind spending the best part of your evening paying for the privilege of doing someone else’s job then by all means book. I won’t be recommending it to anyone though!

Fantastic experience: Fantastic, friendly and extremely experienced balloon crew & of course, the pilot, Ian. They made this such an awesome experience from start to finish, even getting us all involved with getting the balloon ready and putting it away at the end. A perfect way to start the day. Ian and his crew were very welcoming and we felt instantly at ease before, during and after the flight. It was wonderful floating around in the air and having a birds eye view of our stunning countryside. Would highly recommend, it was most definitely worth waiting for. Negative experience: Booked several times and cancelled each time. Endless excuses. Waste of time and money. Edit: other than weather, reasons were given due to COVID and to book for any location and not just local options because of a COVID backlog. When I bought the vouchers, I specified Staffordshire as the preferred location. I tried to call to rearrange the date in February and couldn't get through hence the review. As this has dragged on since June last year, it's just been a pain to sort out things at short notice like childcare so I had washed my hands of this at that point.

Negative experience: We were meant to go on our flight back in February 2020. Sadly, we’ve had three years of cancellations due to Covid and weather conditions. Obviously, this is nobody’s fault. Our flight was finally looking likely to go ahead but I unfortunately had to cancel the night before due to a nasty illness. This negative review is not because I’ve lost a few hundred pound. I understand it is a last minute cancellation and I’m not eligible for a refund. However when I was already feeling very disappointed on top of very ill, the pilot sent me unprofessional and unnecessarily rude texts. We’ve bared with Wickers World through 3 years of cancellations, being very understanding each time a flight has been cancelled with less than 24 hours notice so it is very disappointing not to have been treated with the same respect!

Fantastic experience: Me and my wife flew yesterday and it was our first time, the experience was amazing from start to finish, Jon was our pilot and he makes you feel relaxed and enjoy your trip, I thought it was good they record everything on a go pro and take snap shots aswell which you can buy at the end on a memory stick for only £20, this makes it even easier than trying to record on your phone. I would definitely do this again, thank you to Jon and the ground team for all your hard work. James and Dani

Fantastic experience: Oh my, what a morning. Myself and the other half had our balloon flight, our 3rd attempt, understandable, better being safe rather than sorry...and it was sooo totally worth the wait!! The weather was perfect, the balloon ride was just gorgeous, as was the scenery, and Jon and the team were 2nd to none...felt so calm and smooth and serene at every moment...never once felt scared or unsafe!! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is thinking about doing it!!

Negative experience: I've had a awful experience with this company. They landed on my farm and promised to give me something good to say thankyou. ( this is what most respectful hot air balloon companies do to say thank you to land owner for landing in their fields) They then just drove of and gave nothing and left sweet packets in the feild. Very disappointing having no respect to land owners

Fantastic experience: Purchased two tickets as a birthday present for the better half and from start to finish was really superb. Unlucky the first time of booking due to the weather - it happens unfortunately! Second time we got lucky with the weathern and managed a gorgeous evening flight from Tissington Hall. Everything was super professional and the pilot Andy was fantastic, you could tell he really experienced and felt in really safe hands. The ground crew Nigel & Martin we're also fab along with Chester the dog! Wouldn't hesitate to book again and maybe do a different location. Tip if going from Tissington, get there early and grab a drink in the cafe just opposite the church, it's a lovely spot! Overall would really recommend!

The whole experience was great, we were booked to go on yesterday evening but it was cancelled due to the weather and managed to get on this morning. The weather was lovely, the scenery was great and our pilot was very professional and informative. The landing was smooth and then a short ride back to base. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: I would give WIckers World 6 stars if I could - we had such a brilliant balloon experience with them. Life was made very difficult with the pandemic but we were regularly informed and updated throughout. They don't lie when saying you may need to book numerous attempts before being successful - I think we eventually got out flight on our 6th booking. We read all of the information and were more than happy and prepared for this eventuality so I found it contributed toward excitement on the day. We met early in the chilly but sunny field and after witnessing the inflation and safety brief we were soon floating above the glorious Cotswolds. Jon our pilot was professional, charming and incredibly knowledgeable with all questions answered in- depth and enthusiastically. I could listen to his anecdotes for days. The flight itself was such a surreal experience, it is so calm and quiet because you're flying with the wind and understanding how the balloon actually works contributes toward the experience. If I could go and work for them I really would - I can't wait to go flying agin sometime soon!

Fantastic experience: Well organised launch location and process, perfect conditions ( gentle breeze and good visibility ). Great landing but conditions in the field meant it was difficult to get balloon and basket to the road. Everyone got involved to help the team get loaded. Received the memory stick with video and photos very promptly. Great experience!

Fantastic experience: Had the most amazing flight with Wickers World last week. A perfect flight and a perfect landing. We could have stayed up there all day. Our pilot Jon made us feel completely relaxed and safe from the off and the COVID-19 rules were adhered to religiously throughout. I’d fly with Jon and Wickers World again in a heartbeat. Pure magic.

Negative experience: I really enjoyed the experience however the pilot who was called John seems to have an attitude problem and was very rude which made me feel uncomfortable.

Negative experience: We bought a voucher for my parents last year, COVID-19 has meant that services have only just restarted, which is fair enough, I’m unhappy however with their customer service, the only way you can find out if an evening flight is going ahead is at 2pm on the day, via their answer phone message, however the answer phone message wasn’t updated at 2pm and it took us a while to get through to a real human being who told us that all the flights had been cancelled - well thanks for telling us! This was supposed to be a fun gift but it’s just stressed us all out to be cancelled over and over again - not happy.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I've had the same experience as Paula. 8x I have had to rebook my flight and nearly a year and a half of waiting. I'm beginning to think its a con. I've experienced rude phone calls particularly when it came to extending my voucher which they promise to do. I may be requesting my money back but I feel like that will be a battle in itself. Look elsewhere people! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some time on and still unable to fly. The staff are still rude and uncooperative on the phone. I am still extremely unhappy with this company after nearly two years of waiting to fly. We are currently discussing our situation with trading standards and citizens advice. I would strongly recommend reading the company's T&Cs before making a booking as they cover themselves cleverly. Don't waste your money -look elsewhere! ---------------------------------------------------------- My 16th booking after 3 and a half years of waiting to fly with this company and it has been cancelled again. Paid everything up front and STILL not entitled to my money back. I dont even want to fly any more because the disappointment every time has took the enjoyment out of it. Absolutely pathetic. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here again. 4 years down and still not flown. The lady on reception is incredibly rude and even made a joke remark about an injury that put my dad in hospital last year meaning we could not fly. I'm absolutely disgusted with the company and quite frankly had enough.

All the boxes were ticked (for me and them), and it was well worth the wait for them (for right weather to fly). Fantastic experience: I bought this experience for my partner’s 30th birthday. Although we had 4 cancellations before actually having to finally ride the balloon, it was all WORTH it! No amount of money would equate the experience, tranquility and awe of the landscape! Jon was an excellent guide and pilot, the two lads that tracked our landing spot and helped set up and returned us to the starting point did a commendable job as well. Persevere with booking the day until you fly. WORTH IT!

Positive experience: Great experience, would definitely recommend to do once in your life time.Only gripe was the longevity of it, you are all made to help set up and pack away the balloon this meant we flew for 45 minutes, but were there for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours after helping put everything away. There was no other option but to help as you have to wait for them to take you back to where you started.

Fantastic experience: Hi everyone, me and my girlfriend did our balloon flight on sunday 14th . It was hit or miss if the flight would go ahead and I'm 100% happy it did . One of the best experiences I have had in my life so far. There was a low but thin cloud base so our pilot took us up through it , this only happens a couple of times a year so we were very lucky. Once above the clouds it was absolutely amazing blue skys and sunshine. I would recommend the balloon flight to everyone. Thanks to john and is team .

Negative experience: FULL OF HOT AIR! BASKET CASES! Unless you are retired/unemployed/available at very short notice, then a Wickers World voucher is not for you. Our voucher was bought way back in 2010 and we must have attempted to book a flight almost 20 times over the next few years – each and every time cancelled due to the weather. To use their own analogy, it was like being given a gym membership and trying very hard to use it, but finding the gym closed every time! To be fair, the company sent us text messages with last minute availability but, due to our work patterns, none were of any use. At the time, we were told we had attempted to make more bookings than anyone else. Our attempts stopped a few years ago due to long term illness and family bereavement (ballooning was not a priority to say the least), only to be told the vouchers had expired when we recently tried to re-book. Surprise surprise, they do not offer refunds – even partial. Regardless of the Terms & Conditions, it’s somewhat unethical to offer no leeway and to make the majority of their money from people that end up not using their vouchers (Wickers World clearly know this due to the way they respond to criticism!) What would be really good (and kinder) is if Wickers World could notify you when your voucher is about to expire. Of course, they don’t actually give you an expiry date as such, rather making it up as they go along. My advice would be to book several airline tickets for the price of one Wickers World voucher for a guaranteed (and most likely safer) aerial view of the countryside. They have our cash and it is what it is… but continue reading below for the inevitable aggressive and defensive response!

Fantastic experience: My husband bought the balloon ride for me has a surprise birthday present. We flew early this morning and we really enjoyed the experience from shugborough hall, our pilot John was very professional and very knowledgeable, you could ask any questions about the balloon or even the area we were flying over, the flight was a memorable experience would def recommend xx many thanks John, Joe and Nigel. Fantastic experience: Flew from Tissington yesterday. Andy the pilot was great, as were Dave and Jamie. Always wanted to go on a balloon ride. Was not disappointed. Bought the tickets a year ago for our anniversary. We had several flights cancelled due to weather conditions previously- this gave us the confidence that they take safety seriously. The whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. Andy was really friendly and professional and clearly enjoys his job. Would definitely recommend them, and having a balloon ride. The landing was perfect!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic, I was really lucky getting a flight first time I booked and the weather was glorious. To those complaining its been cancelled due to bad weather it’s definitely worth waiting for a perfect day. I wouldn’t fancy going up if it was windy!! The team were friendly and very professional, Andy was able to point out all the landmarks on our flight which just added to our enjoyment. Thanks for such a fabulous day, one I’ll never forget!

Fantastic experience: My boyfriend surprised me with the gift of a balloon ride for my birthday... And what a treat it was! We booked our trip via the website really easily with plenty of options for dates. We arrived at our take off destination to a very warm welcome and even though the weather wasn't great the team were really positive and confident that we would be able to take our flight. Great safety induction and very clear instructions reassuring us about the trip. When we got up in the balloon viability wasn't great (can't blame the weather on them!) however, I couldn't be happier now as what happened next was truly fantastic. Rather than cut the trip short we were taken above the clouds into glorious sunshine. One of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen. The whole time feel safe and engaging with our pilot above stories of trips he has done and information about the balloon. Great experience, great pilot, great service from the guys on the ground and great video and pictures of our time up there. I couldn't recommend Wickers World any more! Get booked in... You will not be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: We had a fabulous experience. We were very lucky in being able to fly at our first attempt - the weather conditions on the day have to be suitable (no rain, very low wind speed, and high cloud base). After rain the previous night our day was glorious sun and blue sky. We flew from Tissington (Derbyshire) on an early morning flight. Mist was lying in the valleys, giving spectacular views. We found Wickers World to be very professional and efficient and very easy to deal with, from initial booking (with a good choice of available dates), update on weather forecast by phone the night before, to thorough preparation of the balloon and our safety briefing. Our pilot was very friendly, describing the flight procedure and pointing out landmarks as we flew, reaching a height of more than 3,000 ft before our very smooth landing. The only downside is the English weather - expect your flight to be cancelled 3 or 4 times before you get a successful flight (but the night-before phone briefings mean you don't usually have to travel there to find that your flight has had to be cancelled that day)

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful balloon trip with Wickers World Balloon Flights. The views were amazing and it was fascinating to see familiar countryside from a different perspective. We had to change the date of our original booking and the company were very accommodating about this and even extended our voucher expiry date. Jon was a great pilot and we felt completely at ease throughout the whole trip. I would thoroughly recommend this!

Our pilot was was friendly and helpful and talked us through the flight and the Peak District landscape we were flying over. A great experience and one I would happily recommend.
