Untamed Borders

Untamed Borders is a premier travel agency based in London, specializing in adventure travel to some of the world's most remote, complex, and inaccessible regions. Founded in 2008 by professional fixers originally supporting journalists, the agency combines deep regional expertise with a commitment to safe, bespoke travel experiences. While they continue to serve media professionals navigating hard-to-reach areas, their primary focus is on helping adventurous travelers explore unvisited and exotic destinations across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The agency offers a diverse range of fixed-date group trips and fully customized tours. Their activities extend beyond standard tourism to include trekking in the Hindu Kush and Pamir Mountains, skiing in Afghanistan, cultural immersions in Syria and Afghanistan, and even unique marathon packages in unconventional locations. Recent highlights include road trips along the legendary Pamir Highway, expeditions to the Karakoram range, and visits to Africa’s most reclusive nations like Eritrea and Somalia.

Untamed Borders is renowned for its ability to secure difficult permits and navigate complex logistics in politically sensitive areas. They have gained international recognition, including organizing the logistics for Michael Palin’s Into Iraq series. Beyond the journey, the agency is deeply committed to responsible travel, actively supporting local communities through development projects such as the Marathon of Afghanistan and the training of female mountain guides in Tajikistan. Whether you seek a virtual tour of Afghanistan with local guide Fatima Haidari or a 21-day trek through the Wakhan Corridor, Untamed Borders provides an authentic gateway to the world's wild borders.
