Jorge explained the trip and the rich and diverse history of his beautiful country of Costa Rica with such passion and enthusiasm, and also shared his detailed knowledge of Central America and his own roots and family links. I’d like to say sincere and heartfelt thanks to him for bringing the trip alive, finding truly memorable activities for us- I’ll never forget my zip lining experience or the river safari. What a way to celebrate a big birthday!

Fantastic experience: I havent travelled yet but Sarah has made everything really easy and she was SO helpful with information and is v knowledgable. The tours look great and they display the age range up front so you dont have to go into each tour to find out and then be disappointed cos you love the tour but its 18-30 on other tour arrangers' websites.

Negative experience: Wildly disappointed with The Adventure People. My group tour was confirmed, but I was advised less than an hour before I flew out that they had misread my booking for the wrong month and couldn't get me on any other group tour. I was advised to travel anyway and let them sort out a refund on my return (I had no choice, I was literally at the airport about to fly). They landed me on an independent tour that was a massive waste of my time and money. No surprises that when I returned very unimpressed with the tour I never booked, appropriate compensation has not been offered. They book their tours through Bamba travel, another travel agent in Mexico (which makes for a very difficult time getting a response to an urgent email when you're dealing with multiple time zones). I don't understand the point of a travel agent that just books tours for people through other travel agents..... Not only that, but Bamba travel have THE WORST reviews online and if I had known I was ending up with them, would never have booked through The Adventure People. They have been so unhelpful since that I have raised official complaints through ABTA and The International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network. Steer clear.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, I went on the tour to Hoover Dam and Gran Canyon West. Thank you to Tracey our tour guide for an amazing day full of interesting facts and history of the areas we visited. And for a whole lot of fun. Everything ran smoothly and the day really was a once in a lifetime moment. I only wish I was here longer to do some of the other tours that are available with you. I hope to come back sometime soon!

Positive experience: Quick responses. Typo made me think the tour was cheaper than it was, but it was still cheaper than booking directly with the tour operator.

Negative experience: Would leave zero stars if possible. They advertise cruises that are not available then pressure for payment and do not reply to emails until chased. When they blame technical issues, they try to bait and switch you to different dates you did not want. Shame on these shonks.

Negative experience: Booked my trip and was told to wait to book my flights which I did. A few days later I was told my trip was confirmed and I should book my flights and pass on flight details. So I booked my £800 flight, a week later I was told The Inca Trail permits are sold out for my trip. Which means my holiday is now void. Great job!

Negative experience: I tried booking onto a tour leaving on the 27th April and I attempted to book it on 16th April, I was told it would take 48 hours for them to check whether I could join and confirm. On 20th April they informed me I could not join the tour and offered no explanation, they said they could see whether there was space on the tour leaving 9th May but that this would again take time to confirm, and suggested other tours which were different or more expensive. This has been a frustrating experience.

Negative experience: I was considering one of the tours and so I submitted a couple of questions via the form on the website. I got an automated acknowledgment but I never received a response to my questions. I decided not to choose this company for this reason.

Fantastic experience: I cannot fault the excellent support given by Rosanagh to me as an anxious parent planning a trip for my daughter to Thailand. Super caring understanding and informative. Would highly recommend!!

Positive experience: Very helpful but not for us on this occasion

Negative experience: I booked two tours through The Adventure People. While most of the issues I had with the tours I went on weren't The Adventure People's fault, I found their response to my second complaint to be unsatisfactory. My biggest issue with one of my tours is that the itinerary on The Adventure People's website was two years out of date, so when I arrived for my tour in Australia, it was not what I thought I had booked. Initially they told me I was wrong, despite having been told by the tour operator it was incorrect on their site. When you're spending so much money I do not think this is acceptable. Sadly, despite resolving my complaints (to a degree) with The Adventure People, I do not feel I will be booking through them again and I urge future customers to double, triple check itineraries. I was not the only member of my group that booked through The Adventure People that had this issue.

Negative experience: It turns out putting a hold and a large deposit on a trip doesn't mean the trip will run. Mine got cancelled 2 days after my deposit and after I made my plane reservations. I won't use this company again. Also the chat box was a misnomer. No one responded.

Fantastic experience: Cannot fault the exceptional customer service received from The Adventure People. Anna, the agent assigned to my booking was efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and happy to help with any queries. I’m yet to go in the tour, but so far everything has been organised to perfection! Would highly recommend.

Negative experience: This review is based on the customer service only. So they’re quick to email about deposit's as it said $200 on website but then emailed saying it’ll be an extra $800 deposit as it’s in a busy period which I had no problem with at all but I have asked multiple questions about the trip even a day or two before they messaged about the extra deposit and I still haven’t heard back about the things I asked about pretty poor customer service but I’m sure the trip will be amazing but yeah sorta concerning as the only time I’ve heard from them was about them taking money from me doesn’t really give peace of mind to someone who has transferred 1K without any answers

Positive experience: Holding space function does not work. It's supposed to give you 48 hours to decide if you would like to go ahead to book your space. However, the links sent to my email have expired long before the 48 hours is up. This is quite frustrating as it does not hold the date and the price at which you held the space.

Positive experience: I went to Thailand & Bali with the Adventure people. Rosanagh was so helpful with booking my trips & answering all my questions. 10/10 for her service! I would like to give some feedback regarding the trips. I had booked with 'The Adventure People', so when landing I was looking for my name with the sign of The Adventure People but instead it was intrepid for Thailand & Ultimate for Bali. Just a little tip to probably explain this to your customers. Also, when dealing with the trips, taxis, giving details etc, Intrepid/Ultimate was the tour operator always mentioned, again not The Adventure people which made things confusing. Regarding the trips itself: Thailand- we weren't given enough time to enjoy the beaches & also no time to do the extra activities, so maybe don't sponsor this on your trips. The weather wasn't always great so maybe you should include some indoor places as options in case it rains. We managed to still go but the island hopping would have been cancelled if the weather was too bad. So definitely should have other options in case it rains. No other option was given to us. We were taken in places that I wouldn't visit. Turtle sanctuary, it was inside of a hotel, free of charge. The tsunami memorial, again free of charge. Places you could visit on your own if you wanted to. Shouldn't have been included in the tour as they were free. It felt like a waste of time as we could have visited more beaches,temples etc & opted to go to the free places outside the tour if we wanted to. It was made to look as these places were "included in the tour" when actually they were free. Phi phi Islands / monkeys sanctuary not included in tour. This definitely should have been! We paid an extra £65 for the tours. Bali: some hotels were very cheap. I would have opted for better hotel options as Bali is very cheap & could get better hotels. Some restaurants quite expensive.

Negative experience: Poor communication and lack of awareness; No point booking with this tour operator, just go direct with the actual company who carries out the tour e.g. G Adventures. If any problems arise TAP will request that you call the travel company who manages the actual trip directly even if you're abroad... which defeats the purpose of using a tour operator. Avoid. To reply to the below from TAP: I clarified the weather was out of your control and that wasn't the issue here so there's no point debating that. The main point was the communication which was poor and you clearly stated thats all the information you had because the tour operator (G Adv) didn't give you any more information - fine but answer this - Why did people on the tour within my group have the tour leaders number to contact him and inform him of the situation? So to state you didnt have the details but someone else on my tour did is really poor from you. How can a company like TAP not have a tour leaders number but a customer who signed up directly via G Adv did have it? Makes no sense for a company of your size. Further to that asking me to contact G Adv whilst I'm already at the destination is just stupid if you ask me. You provided absolutely zero service and I would have been better off booking directly.

From the beginning i had full confidence in the way my calls, live chats etc were handled in regards to my trip and this took the stress off any worries i may of had. the trip itself was fantastic and everything went to plan with lots of communications, instructions etc. I would not hesitate to use this company again

Perhaps the CEO is enjoying it in his private villa in Spain. This is unethical Capitalism.
