Medics Away Ltd

Medics Away Ltd, based in Weymouth, is a specialized travel agency dedicated to organizing medical electives and internships for medical students. Founded in 2003 by Dr. Giles Molyneux and his team, the company serves as a comprehensive support system for aspiring doctors, particularly those in their final years of study seeking international placements.

We provide end-to-end management of the elective experience, handling all logistical complexities so students can focus on their medical education. Our services include visas, travel insurance, vaccinations, and flight arrangements, alongside the provision of secure accommodation and local representation to ensure student welfare. We understand that medical students are often traveling abroad for the first time, so we provide a supportive environment that minimizes homesickness and nervousness while fostering independence.

Medics Away offers elective programs in diverse destinations including Bali, Belize, India, Peru, Tobago, Thailand, and Grenada. Each placement is tailored to meet university requirements and includes hospital rotations that expose students to unique healthcare practices and global medical challenges. Beyond the clinical experience, we organize cultural expeditions and adventure activities, allowing students to immerse themselves in the local communities and environments they will serve in their future careers. Our program is designed not just for medical growth, but also to provide an unforgettable travel experience.

Furthermore, through the Medics Away Foundation, we contribute to the communities we visit. A portion of our efforts and funds support targeted healthcare projects in the host hospitals and local communities, ensuring that student placements have a positive impact on the regions they are working in. Whether you are looking for a 'barebones' placement or a fully immersive experience with discovery trips, Medics Away offers flexible options to suit individual needs and budgets, backed by years of expertise in medical tourism and education.
