Fantastic experience: Excellent - despite the rain - holiday walking on Offa’s Dyke. Well organised and very nice B&Bs along the way.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I recently completed walking the St. Cuthbert’s Way in Scotland. What an amazing way to spend a vacation and get to know a new area. The scenery in the Borders was stunning and it was so fun to talk to so many different people along the way. We would run into the locals along the way, or chat with our B&B hosts, taxi drivers and fellow sojourners from near and far. Celtic Trails organized our trip, and they took care of all the details! All the logistics required were organized and communicated to us. This was the first walking holiday that we have done and the team at Celtic Trails was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, even providing guidance for getting to and from the walk in the Borders. Their partners were so friendly, hospitable and helpful — from the B&B hosts to taxi drivers to the luggage transfer companies. I would highly recommend a walking holiday with Celtic Trails. They are a small family run business, with a high level of professional but personal service. You can trust them to take care of you!

Fantastic experience: We just returned from my third outing with Celtic Trails, this time on the Rob Roy Way in the southern Scottish highlands. I know that Celtic Trails can't take credit for the fabulous weather, but cool and sunny skies along with Celtic Trails' expertise worked together to make it an outstanding experience. First, big thanks to Nathan for steering us toward this particular walk. I wasn't familiar with the Rob Roy Way, but he asked us what we were looking for in a walking holiday and steered us to this particular route, which was far less crowded than the better known West Highland Way but still incredibly scenic--lochs, lochans, rivers, mountains, meadows, cute towns, forests, SOOO many waterfalls, etc. They arranged lodging in a variety of lovely B and Bs, inns and even a pub, and made sure that our luggage made it safely from one spot to another while we focused on enjoying the trail and time with our group. (One of the innkeepers went out of her way to forward some items that we accidentally left behind to our next inn!) They arranged a taxi to pick us up and drop us off one day when our stopping point didn't have any lodging. And they provided us with lots of tips for enjoying the trail and the little towns where we stopped, from lunch and dinner recommendations to taxi contacts for the day when one of our group just didn't feel up to making the trek. I always feel like I'm in good hands when I book a walking holiday with Celtic Trails!

Fantastic experience: Celtic Trails was so informative and helpful planning our hike from an ocean away! Wales was so beautiful- we had a great time. One thing to note- if you are hiking on your final day and leaving your accommodations, it is a long day- so think about staying that night if you can or have to travel.

Fantastic experience: Celtic Trails did an excellent job providing instructions and accommodations on the Offa's Dyke Path for me. I walked the northern half from Knighton to Prestatyn in August and lucked out with dry, cool hiking weather with rain only on the final day at the very end. It was all beautiful!

Negative experience: Very poor in comparison to the competition. Personally i dont think the advisor had ever walked the route she suggested. We had just 3 days and if it were not for a local questioning why on earth we were being sent, for instance, for 15km down a pebbled beach we would have had a pretty poor time. We rerouted almost completely but no thanks to Celtic. I wrote pointing out the error and was told the operative will call you 'on tuesday' to discuss. Needless to say she didnt bother which kind of sums up the whole company. I have hiked very fortunately all over the world and this is the first time in 25 years i have had to say try somewhere else these people are simply not as good as the competition and seemingly are not prepared to listen to any constructive criticism.

Fantastic experience: We just completed the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path walk and had a wonderful time. Celtic trails did a great job organising everything. They chose lovely accommodations, managed all of the luggage transfers excellently, and provided us with clear, relevant, and current information that made the journey easy and pleasant. We really appreciated that the proprietors of the inns and B&B‘s seemed to know Celtic Trails and consider them reputable and desirable clients. We felt that we got treated especially well because we were travelling with Celtic trails.

Fantastic experience: We have recently completed the 10-day Cumbria Way Walk in the Lake District of England. Celtic Trails were excellent in their choice of B&B accommodation, luggage transfers and the comprehensive information package they provided. The holiday was most enjoyable, and we were able to focus on the walking component as everything else was taken care of! I would highly recommend Celtic Trails to organize your next walking holiday.

Fantastic experience: A friend and I just finished the Offa's Dyke trail and I cannot speak too highly about the experience. Everything I had hoped for and more. I'm very glad that I used Celtic Trails because their excellent service meant that we only had to concentrate on walking. All the accomodations were of a good standard and some were quite outstanding. I would definitely use Celtic trails again and would certaily recommend them to other walkers.

Fantastic experience: We just finished our second walking tour with Celtic Trails Walking Holidays, and would heartily recommend. My sisters and I have completed the Pembrokshire Coast Path and the Cotswold Round Path. Both of these treks were tremendous! Celtic Trails has set us up in hotels that were top-notch, varied, picturesque and always clean. Having a set of experts to offer routes, transfers, and accommodations leaves us to simply walk, relax, and take in the surroundings. That's what vacations are for!

Fantastic experience: We booked a Walking Holiday of the Jersey coast with Celtic Trails and would 100% recommend booking through them. Everything was clear, well-arranged, orderly - the printed material received was concise and laid out per day, so we could just take one page out of the pack for the relevant day, which contained all we needed to know. Fantastic experience: My wife and I booked a three night/two day hiking trip on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path through Celtic Trails for late April. We hiked from Amroth to Tenby, and then Tenby to Manorbier. Although the weather did not cooperate we still had a very enjoyable time. We were very pleased with Celtic Trails: they arranged accommodations and transportation at a fair price. Our three night stay in Tenby at the Glenthorne Guest House was very comfortable and pleasant; Jeff and Lisa are wonderful hosts. Celtic Trails was prompt in its responses to our questions and provided updates and guidance throughout the booking process and after. We highly recommend Celtic Trails and plan on using them again.

Fantastic experience: We have been walking long-distance paths in England and Wales for about 40 years. This company is up there with the best for orgnanisation and communication. We've just wallked the Cotswold Way and realised what a challenge it was. Fortunately, we had glorious weather. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company. Well done!

Fantastic experience: Celtic Trails organised a 4 day walking break for us along the Pembrokeshire Coastal path from Solva to Aberreiddy, with us staying in St. David’s. The holiday was simply fantastic. Celtic Trails were a pleasure to deal with, very professional and the organisation was first class. The walks, transport logistics and accommodation were all arranged by Celtic Trails and everything ran like clockwork. If you’re looking for a hassle free way to organise a walking holiday, be sure to talk to them.

Fantastic experience: We did their LCP5 itinerary on the Llyn Peninsula section of the Wales Coastal Path, from Trevor to Aberdaron with an extra night in Aberdaron. We requested a quieter area and it did not disappoint. Other than day hikers when close to car parks, we pretty much had the path to ourselves. Other than the sheep, of course! And the seals! Loved the phenomenal coastal views, overdosed on fresh sea air. Their planning, pre-trip communication, selected accommodations, and walking notes/materials were all spot on. Celtic Trails was highly recommended to us by a fellow inn-to-inn walker we ran into the year before, and we are so glad we traveled with them. Will for sure use Celtic Trails again on our next Wales adventure.

Fantastic experience: Living in South Africa, we had to rely totally on Celtic Trails Walking Holidays to advise on, organize and then coordinate our entire Hadrian's wall hike, accommodation, baggage transfers etc. They did this to perfection and the trip was faultless. Added to this was the personal, friendly and professional involvement of their staff who always made me feel that they understood what I wanted and were fully on top of making it happen. I believe we got good value for money as well. It's seldom that one can give an unqualified endorsement of a supplier, but in this case, I have no hesitation in doing so. Fantastic experience: This trip was very well organized. Nathan answered all of my questions I had before we started our trip. The luggage transfers were flawless, and the bed and breakfasts were clean, had good food, and the hosts were very helpful and welcoming. The hosts knew the Celtic Trails procedures, knew around when we would arrive at their establishment, and offered to take us to the start of the trail in the mornings if it was very far from the B&B. The walk itself was life changing. It puts the walker close to nature in one of the most beautiful countries I've seen, Scotland. I'm planning to go on another walk this year and will definitely use Celtic Trails.

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Celtic Trails was very positive. First of all, their response in autumn 2022 to providing an itinerary for Offa's Dyke with shorter walking days was very quick and matched what we were seeking. Secondly, the taxi drivers and B&B hosts said they are better than the other companies working along Offa's Dyke. Finally, we found them very responsive & helpful during the booking and preparation process including the emergency phone-line on one occasion when we were walking the southern half in September 2023. Fantastic experience: My husband, Alan and I, just finished an 11 night, 9 day walking tour of the Fife Coastal Path booked with Celtic Trails. This was one of the best vacations that we have taken. Celtic Trails planned every detail and our vacation ran like clock work. The materials provided by Nathan at Celtic trails were extremely detailed and so easy to follow. We received a book, a map, and detailed instructions for each day. All the hotels were booked, the transfers arranged, restaurants recommended for each destination, hiking apps suggested, and a list of taxi companies provided for each destination. Every hotel or B&B was wonderful. I would like to make a special mention of Dunclutha Guest House in Leven. The hostess Julie was so nice and made our stay very special. We spent 4 days in St Andrews at the Ardgown Hotel, which was great after hotel hopping at the beginning of the trip. Nathan was very easy to work with. He is conscientious, and responsive to what we wanted while planning this trip. I highly recommend Celtic Trails Walking Holidays. We had a fabulous trip and everything went smoothly with no missteps.

Fantastic experience: We did the 3 Castles Walk in July. Was a great experience. The information pack that was sent was detailed and extremely helpful as you are walking across paddocks, fields, laneways and country roads - so their detailed instructions on where to look for the walk markers was super helpful and needed. The walk itself was beautiful and varied. The accommodation they booked us was great - awesome host, great breakfast, large clean room.

I was scheduled to walk Hadrian’s Wall path in 2020, and they were very understanding about the delay in my willingness and ability to travel during the pandemic. Fast forward to May 2023 and I have a wonderful, well organized, seamless trip. The walk was stunning and allowed me to see parts of England I hadn’t had the chance to visit. The accommodations were well thought out, more than comfortable, and the communication and walk pack were outstanding. Fantastic experience: I have just completed The Ridgeway walking holiday. Celtic Trails were absolutely fantastic from the organisation of accommodation and luggage transfers through to the sending of my walking guide and walking pack to Australia well before my departure. There were a couple of accommodation changes made after booking, one of which occurred mid walk, and these were handled efficiently and with maximum communication. There were also a few wet weather days during the walk and the staff from Celtic Trails checked in just to make sure everything was ok. Very much appreciated. The standard and quality of the accommodation was very good and my luggage had always arrived at my destination before I did. I will certainly be booking my next walking holiday with Celtic Trails.

Positive experience: Very prompt and friendly service. We felt comfortable booking with a locally based organization that knew the area a bit better. Some of the lodging accommodations were better than others. One in particular was less than desirable given the amount of money spent for the trip. We also observed that some of the trails ended up being longer than otherwise stated on the itinerary. Overall we really enjoyed our walks and would consider using Celtic Trails again.

Fantastic experience: Very enjoyable walk round the coastal path on the Isle of Man last month. I've done lots of long-distance walks over the years and can say that Celtic Trails were up there with other excellent companies like Inntravel in organising good B&B/hotel accommodation with friendly hosts. They provided lots of detailed information about the walk, good maps and local public transport and kept us updated about any path diversions due to subsidence.

Fantastic experience: We have been meaning to visit Guernsey for some time and a walk around the coastline in 4 days worked perfectly for us. Celtic Trails as always took care of all the arrangements so all the accommodation and transfers worked well. The first two days of the walk along the south coast of the island were very scenic and hilly - very similar to Cornwall, and the west coast had some beautiful sandy bays. The sunset over Cobo Bay was magnificent.

Fantastic experience: Just finished walking the Dalesway with Celtic Trails (having previously done the Cleveland Way with them as well). As usual everything went like clockwork, brilliantly organised with a highly detailed walk pack and very clear instructions regards both the walk and available places for eating in the evening and stopping en route. Accommodation was pretty good throughout and all of our hosts went out of their way to help. I really can't fault Celtic Trails and would recommend them to anyone contemplating booking a long distance walk. Excellent service and would recommend.

Fantastic experience: Celtic Trails organised a brilliant holiday for us, walking the Ridgeway. All the information provided was clear, the B&Bs clean and comfortable, and the luggage transfers ran smoothly. They were also tremendously helpful and supportive when one of us caught Covid and we had to finish the holiday early and make our way home. We will definitely be walking with them again!

Fantastic experience: Our original trip was scheduled for May 2020. Celtic Trails looked out for us; they held our payment all through the pandemic and rescheduled when we were ready. We thoroughly enjoyed walking Hadrian's Wall Path. Our accommodations were great, the food was delicious, and the people were delightful. We finished our holiday feeling happy and healthy. Fantastic experience: I just finished walking the beautiful and peaceful Cumbria Way and the Cotswold Way, both booked through Celtic Trails. I also walked Offa's Dyke in 2017 booked through Celtic Trails. I continue to choose Celtic Trails because they do an excellent job for me. The inns, BnBs and hotels were excellent: quaint, clean and well run. They do a great job with luggage transfers and took care of me even when there was a luggage snafu, saving me a lot of worry. They provided information about meals, restaurants and when booking in advance was warranted. The itineraries, maps and guidebooks made walking the Cotswold Way easy, so that I could focus on enjoying the beautiful scenery. The Cumbria Way took a bit more effort to navigate because it is less well marked, but the maps and materials provided by Celtic Tours were very helpful. Celtic Trails also worked with me during the COVID-19 pandemic when I needed to postpone my trip. Penny and others at Celtic Trails worked hard to handle all the details of my vacation, which ensured that I had two wonderful, stress free walks.

Fantastic experience: I just returned home to Canada after walking the 100km St Cuthbert's Way trail using Celtic Trails Walking Holidays. It was a family experience: me, my wife and two teenage children. We had a wonderful time and I strongly encourage you to consider this holiday for yourself. Why walk? This is the best way to truly experience the area at a slow pace: abundant wildlife, farm activity, bubbling streams, sun, wind, smells, etc. The length and moderate difficulty of walking made for a challenging but not impossible quest to direct each day and provide a goal for the week. There was time to chat with each other and time to walk alone with our own thoughts. My teenage children did well and enjoyed themselves!! Why Celtic Trails? This is my first experience with Celtic Trails and it was a fabulous experience. What I wanted was local knowledge to provide the best accommodation, food, etc and an organized itinerary to reduce the stress of daily logistics. Celtic Trails was flawless! Great information, best food options, best accommodation, forwarded luggage with no glitches, contact numbers to call in case of any trouble. No worries with this holiday. With this company you will get outstanding value: great local contacts and flawless organization at a very reasonable price. All you have to do is walk!

Fantastic experience: Walking the Offa's Dyke trail during the wettest Welsh May in 130 years could have been miserable if I had not had fantastic places to stay. All my hosts where welcoming and when I was due to picked up from the trail they where always there on time. Having the logistics taken care of meant I was able to just enjoy the walk. We had a really relaxing time - the walking was hard of course, but the worries were taken away. The accommodation Celtic Trails chose for us was all very good or excellent.

Fantastic experience: This past May I enjoyed walking St. Cuthbert's Way along a very beautiful border area of Scotland and England. My hiking buddy and I had a great time. It was my third walk in the U.K. All three were planned by Celtic Trails, and the planning was flawless. The lodging was excellent, and our nightly hosts were friendly and helpful. Fantastic experience: Our group of four - consisting of friends who frequently walk together in the UK and in mountains elsewhere in Europe - decided on using Celtic Trails for a linear self-guided walk in the Cinque Terre in Italy. I had initially compared itineraries, accommodation, backup in the form of transportation of our luggage etc across 10 companies and settled on Celtic because it offered more than just the Cinque Terre ie Portofino and Portovenere, but also high level walks rather than just coastal paths. It was good to deal with one person for queries and guidance - Nathan always responded quickly to my emails and kept me updated at every stage. He even followed up on my request for information regarding the width of a path on our final day's walk, as it had been flagged up as having a steep drop-off! We were impressed by the quality of the guidance and detailed itineraries, although the weight of the whole pack did take us by surprise when it arrived in the post! The detail contained in walking notes was very helpful in enabling us to plan each walk the night before - over a drink or two! - so we knew when to buy picnic food, where we might stop, whether we needed extra water, how much of the trail was a climb/steps/rocky etc. The taxi and luggage transfers were excellent - on one occasion we travelled in an S class Mercedes! Hotels always knew exactly who we were, where we were walking to and from, details re our luggage transfer etc and, without exception, we received a warm welcome and good service. We had ideal walking weather - warm sunshine, no rain and mostly clear skies for good views. The walking was sufficiently challenging and kept us above the crowds seething in the 5 villages below. Go before mid-June or after late September to avoid the excessive crowds who descend by ferry, train etc from cruise ships after 11am. Overall, a great experience, enhanced by a very professional and friendly company. Thank you Celtic Trails.

Fantastic experience: We just completed the John Muir Way in Scotland through Celtic Trails. This is the second trip we have done through this company. Both trips were outstanding. Working through Celtic Trails means that everything is taken care of and all you have to do is walk and enjoy the spectacular countryside. Nikki at Celtic Trails always responded quickly and answered our questions. It was a nice to know she was only a phone call away if we needed anything. The selection of B&Bs was first-class. We had such a great time that we are now thinking about a future booking with them!

Fantastic experience: I booked the Dingle Way walk with Celtic Trails, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My holiday included lovely B&B stays and support throughout my vacation, as needed. Fantastic experience: I walked the Offa's Dyke and Hadrian's Wall with Celtic Trails. They are absolutely reliable and honest, as well as efficient. Everything will be arranged quickly, and believe me, you will have a fantastic holiday. After spending the day walking, you will be very well hosted and fed, by honest, patient, and friendly people. I highly recommend it, even if your English is poor.

Fantastic experience: We did the Hadrian's Wall hike during the last week of September. Celtic Trails did a great job. They seem to think of everything. In areas where there was no place near our B&B for dinner they arranged in advance for our transportation and assured we would have a dinner reservation just in case that was needed. Fantastic experience: A real 5 star experience! In August my wife and I spent a most enjoyable 5 days on the coastal path on the Isle of Wight. It was all perfectly organised by Penny at Celtic Trails, we particularly remember a reservation for a meal at a pub when our accommodation for the night was some distance from the path. And at Celtic Trails they even seem to be able to control the weather: it was glorious thoughout!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have just completed The Dingle Way, our third walk with Celtic Trails who have become our firm favourite for long distance walks in the British Isles. Their preparation and administration is flawless, and communication warm and responsive. The walk packs we have received have drawn envious looks from walkers using other companies, and have always provided everything we need. Their choice of accommodation has provided us with many memorable stays and pleasurable social encounters. As for the walks themselves, Nature has to take the credit, but we're grateful to Celtic Trails for making them so accessible.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I recently decided to go on our first ever walking holiday together. After carefully weighing up our options we settled on Celtic Trails. The information they have on their website is very comprehensive and as it turned out the accommodation we arranged through them was second to none! Nothing like a great big full english in a picturesque B&B to get you ready for a day of walking through the beautiful rolling hills of southern England. They provided maps, guide books and all sorts of other useful things too, and even transferred our luggage for us every day! Cannot recommend enough, thank you so much for a wonderful holiday! We will certainly be doing another before long.

Fantastic experience: Five of us decided to hike Hadrian's Wall to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America. After reading a Smithsonian Magazine article on Hadrian's Wall, I contacted Celtic Trails -- the tour company identified by the author. We wanted to walk West to East (wind and sun at our backs), and Celtic Trails sent us our itinerary. Once in Britain, the accommodations were excellent, the food beyond belief, and the movement of our larger bags was seamless. The 84 miles of the Wall, however, is obviously road miles. Our GPS reported we walked 120 miles in walking the Wall from the Irish Sea to the North Sea! But we raised more than $25,000 for our cause, and look forward to working with Celtic Trails on future fundraisers. Celtic Trails' organization allowed us to concentrate solely on walking. I recommend Celtic Trails to anyone interested in walking anywhere in Great Britain.

Fantastic experience: Our first ever experience of this but Penny made it very easy and provided excellent customer service all round. For the walk itself, my son and I had a blast ... OK we were surprisingly blessed with great weather. Excellent organisation throughout - very easy. We will be back for more. My best planning tip: do the training plan and avoid shin splints (unlike me).

Fantastic experience: I have done two walking trips with Celtic Trails so far, one in Northumberland and another in Pembrokeshire. Their organisation, attention to detail, and quality of customer service are all excellent. I would highly recommend them to others.

Fantastic experience: We have been walking with Celtic Trails for twelve years now, in the course of which we have covered well over 1,000 miles. We have never received anything other than really helpful, friendly advice, and their organisation of the accommodation, and the walks generally, has been impeccable, sometimes involving quite tricky arrangements to deal with our requirements. On the very rare occasions when we have encountered a problem on a walk (never a problem of their making) they are a phone call away and have come to our aid immediately. We cannot recommend them too highly.

Fantastic experience: Walked whole Hadrian's Wall Path from West to East in first week of May. Had wind (and around four hours of rain) in our back. Met people walking te opposite way completely covered in wind and rain clothing. Choose wisely which direction to walk. We had the complete package (B&B, packed lunches, taxis from start/finish to B&B/lodging, etc.) organised by Penny of Celtic Trails and it was worth every penny. B&B's from avarage to excellent. When possible: try Lanercost B&B, The Hill on the Wall and Ashcroft's Guesthouse. You will cherish the memories.

Fantastic experience: Celtic Trails has opened up a new world for us by giving us easy access to the most beautiful parts of the UK. We have always been interested in long distance footpaths and Celtic Trails has given us the opportunity to exploit our interest. 2016 will be the seventh year we have used their services for accommodation, baggage transfer, mapping and good advice. They have been helpful in dealing with our sometimes complex requirements and whichever member of the team that has dealt with us we have always been impressed with the knowledge, professionalism and friendly approach. Fantastic experience: We walked the Pembrokeshire Coast Path with Celtic Trails and had a very enjoyable and relaxing experience in such a beautiful part of the world .The choice in accommodation was excellent, everyone we spoke to was friendly and the holiday was organised to a high standard.
