USA Summer Camp

Negative experience: Lots of hidden costs - probably all agents have, but would be nice if people were upfront. Pay for visa application AND appointment at embassy. Pay for police check. Pay them to attend fairs ... Then pay them more to process a paperwork when you have been offered a job at a fair. Then airfares. Do not miss the need for travel insurance after camp too- not listed on website either!... Do not expect to cover costs spent to get to camp during work period - so have savings for the application process and days off - over £1000. Your $2000 might cover travel after IF you are frugal. Induction done online - lots to work through at a busy time of year if you are at uni. If dyslexic ask for help as checklists are extensive and it's easy to miss something - then if things go awry and you find out it's something you missed it's too bad and there's no help! Be aware the agency is linked to a US visa company and once you are on the plane they do little else for you. The visa company do little to hold your camp to account if things go wrong and if you need them you will be redirected to a call centre and staff follow a script rather than listening to a distressing situation. If things go wrong during camp, do not expect anything in terms of support from UK. Do your research - make sure you have good support. E.g. ask about support when in US and about travel insurance after camp ( not just medical insurance). Bigger companies are more transparent imo. The camp experience is great - hard work, but rewarding. You get that with all the companies though. Just ensure you don't expect it all to be plain sailing and ask as many what-if questions of a company you choose at a fair or whatever before you sign up with them.

They have always responded super quickly to emails to give advice them I needed it. I would 100% recommend them and would definitely use again!

Fantastic experience: Really positive experience for me with USA Summer Camp. I was probably one of the first people to sign up for Summer 2022 (I signed up April 2021) which I think benefitted me getting placed so early! But they have been amazing for me, always reply fast to emails and happily answer the phone to my silly questions and worries. Everything was made so simple for me to follow, and I like how helpful the guides are on difficult processes such as the VISA. Nothing has been an issue for me so far and I’m due to fly out in June to an amazing camp! One recommendation I would make though is to create a facebook community or group chat so we can talk to other applicants, as it’s been a nerve racking process building up so I’d like to find some other people to chat to. But other than that, only positive things to say, always given updates about deadlines in good time. Every call and email was clear, well organised and right on time. They have helped me every step of the way, answering all my questions and letting me know what the next step is. Positive experience: USA Summer Camp are an excellent agency to apply for Summer work in the states. They respond swiftly and are efficient at contacting their counselors to update them on their progress, next steps etc. Shout out to Glen who is wonderfully chipper on call, and brings a personal quality to the business process. My review is that of four stars as I do understand that refunds can be particularly difficult to achieve as they do not reimburse for many reasons. They instead allow you to reapply at any future year to continue with your application. This is not ideal for some.

Positive experience: Been placed at a camp in NY state. Summer Camp team were very helpful, phoned regularly to check up on me. Looking forward to this new experience. Would have liked more information on additional costs (e.g. visa) before signing up, however I'm sure it'll all be worth it. The interview process (with the camps) was surprisingly quite fun. I also wish the team would have let me know that most camps require people with more experience with children but maybe that should have been more common sense on my part. Besides those two little things, the team were supportive and enthusiastic :-)

Fantastic experience: USA summer camp made the difficult and complicated process of applying for the J1 visa super straightforward. Their customer service is the best I've experienced in any business, they are just so enthusiastic, energetic and helpful! As well as this I had one of my best summers ever over in the US thanks to them. I will be returning and would strongly recommend USA summer camp!

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience with USA Summer Camp! I went to my camp for the first time in the summer of 2016, and returned for the summers of 2017 and 2019. Every step of the process was clear and easy due to the service of the team, and responses were always speedy and friendly when any queries came up. They really look after their applicants and know how to put them at ease - all of the somewhat daunting parts become a joy with such constant support! It was great knowing that if anything came up during my time at camp that they were only a phone call away. Could not recommend them more for anyone who is interested in being a camp counsellor for a summer (or a few). Thank you so much for all of your help, USASC!

Fantastic experience: USA Summer Camp were so beyond helpful in assisting me with my two trips to America in the summers of 2017 & 2018. From the initial phone interview you have right at the beginning, to helping you know what to pack when you're getting ready to go- they make the whole process stress free and enjoyable. The whole team cannot do enough for you, and their own experiences and expertise really shine through when talking to them. Going to camp with USA Summer Camp was the best experience of my life, I made friends to last a lifetime and memories I will cherish forever! Fantastic experience: Through USA Summer Camp I have now been to Camp Monroe in New York twice and spent two amazing summers working with the most amazing colleagues and children. I have worked their as a lifeguard at the lake and pool/kayaking instructor which was so fun. Through camp I have met some friends for life and had experiences which I will never forget. I found it so helpful going through USA Summer Camp as they really help you through the application process. There are many benefits of going through this company as they give you lots of help individually and are happy to guide you over the phone anytime. Another bonus I have taken advantage of is the 30 days insurance post camp as it has now allowed me to see over a third of the states and have an amazing time! Can't thank these guys enough really.

Fantastic experience: Had the best summer of my life using this company. They were informative, supportive and helpful every step of the way...even when I was in the USA. The flexible flight option allowed me to change my return flight which meant travelling after camp was even more awesome. Fantastic experience: I had the most amazing time at camp and it was mainly to do with the great support this team gave me. They helped me through the whole process from start to end. Fantastic experience: USA Summer camp made my summer one of a lifetime. They were so helpful in sorting my VISA and police check sorted. Their guides are the best and so well written it made me feel so supported doing super big paperwork! The office is full of lovely friendly people who really want you to go to camp help you get there through the whole process they are there. USA Summer Camp have links to so many camps and I was able to be placed in the perfect camp for me .I had the greatest summer ever thanks to them!

Fantastic experience: Despite not being 100% on the decision to attend a summer camp, USA Summer Camp's excellent support team helped me understand all the benefits and helped me make up my mind on going - and I'm delighted I did! I worked at Camp Monroe in New York and really got a lot out of the experience, particularly when it came to helping out the kids. I enjoyed the camp experience so much that the couple of weeks travelling I got to do afterwards as part of the program felt more of a bonus rather than one of the main parts of the trip!

All of their staff were so helpful on the phone - amazing considering I had 8282929 questions every time I phoned! They helped me and reassured me every step of the way - especially when I was worried about others being placed before me. Fantastic experience: Literally can't say enough great words about USA Summer Camp and all of the amazing guys that work in their offices. I spent an amazing summer this year at Camp Conowingo (a Girls Scout Camp in Maryland) and can't thank USA Summer Camp enough for always being there at the end of the phone or an email if I ever needed them and helping me all the way through the application process. Camp is the best thing I have ever done and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to work with kids and be crazy for their entire summer as well as having the unique opportunity to experience live in the states and even travel after too!
