City Sightseeing Oxford

Negative experience: This experience is only getting this rating because I love the concept of the Hop on Hop Off bus for sightseeing in Oxford. The architecture and picturesque town of Oxford will be shown while taking this bus. This will help you experience that plus give you an opportunity to learn more about different facts around the city. Here comes the unfortunate, saddening, and tragic reality of taking the Hop on Hop off bus in Oxford. My family and I were riding the bus and the driver was off putting to begin with. We didn’t allow that to dim our mood and still enjoyed the experience. About 20 minutes into our ride, another family came on the bus. The mother and grandparents settled into the open seats and the man with them peeped his head upstairs for a second and went back down. Moments later, the bus driver came upstairs and said that one of us needed to move our seats, demanded we do, and then proceeded to say the man downstairs that was with the family who sat next to us, didn’t want to sit with us and we needed to move so he could sit down. I have NEVER heard or seen that happen on a bus. This is a bus where you seat yourself and it’s open seating. So for this driver to demand 3 out of the 4 black women in our group to move, that saddened me. For her to continually say we need to move and make us feel unwanted and not valued is not what I expected from this. This trip to Oxford was for one day during our trip to London. I was soooo beyond excited to see the city and experience it through Hop on Hop off. So, for this to happen I didn’t appreciate the experience as much as I could have. If you plan on taking this bus in Oxford BEWARE of the possible discrimination and disrespect from staff. You want to experience the city with no problems so beware!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Experienced, helpful, and adaptable - these are the words I would use to describe my guide, Jack Brown Robertson, on my City Sightseeing Oxford tour. From the moment I arrived at the meeting point, I could tell that this was going to be a unique experience. Robertson's friendly demeanor and knowledge of the city instantly put me at ease, and I knew I was in good hands. As we traversed the streets of Oxford, Robertson's commentary was bursting with information, from the early history of the university to the famous literary connections the city holds. I was constantly amazed by the adaptability of the tour, seamlessly transitioning from ancient architecture to modern innovations. Overall, this tour was an absolute delight, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fascinating and unforgettable exploration of Oxford. Thanks to Robertson, I left with a deeper understanding and appreciation of this incredible city.

Fantastic experience: We thoroughly enjoyed our Oxford tour, unfortunately the weather was not kind to us so we stayed on board for a few stops instead of seeing the sights by foot. So glad we did. We got off at Oxford Castle to enjoy some lunch and we were given excellent directions by our young driver. We were lucky enough to get him after our lunch stop for our trip back to the station. He greated us warmly and asked if we enjoyed lunch, felt like a real personnal service. Highly recommend taking the tour if visiting Oxford and wanting to get the most out of your day.

Fantastic experience: We enjoyed the informative bus tour but especially loved our walking tour in a small group with a great guide called „Policeman Pete.“ He was really knowledgeable, at the same time as being highly entertaining and humorous. Unfortunately the weather was a bit drizzly but we still really had a wonderful day in Oxford.

Fantastic experience: Worth every penny GBP :) - we were approached by Jeremy in front of the Oxford train station & his genuine and sincere approach convinced us to buy tickets and hop on the bus. Let me tell you, it was just perfect for the Sunny - hot day to avoid walking around with an elderly mother & a grumpy teenager. It was the best decision we made because the Bus takes you around the entire city and they offer a service of stopping every 15 minutes from each bus stop & of course whatever station you want to stop you are able to do so. What we loved is the fact that it was convenient, friendly staff/drivers and the cool covered area in the front to be in the shade. Also, it gave us the opportunity to go around the city listening to the historical information while enjoying the ride & it served us as a means of public transportation. I was hoping to extend a humble tip and express our gratitude to Jeremy upon returning in the late afternoon, but unfortunately he was gone for the day. So, Thanks a lot Sir - your kind and genuine approach made us buy the tickets & we wish you all the very best. Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: Took tour yesterday .Would thoroughly recommend . Easy to hop on and off .Recorded tour easily accessed through headphones issued when you buy a ticket .Some tours have an onboard guide too which adds interest .All staff happy to help and drivers pleasent .......drivers do so well coping with roadworks , diversions , traffic and straying pedestrians !!

Fantastic experience: We had such a fun time with Lesley on our walking tour of Oxford yesterday! We were lucky enough to have her all to ourselves which made it very personal. Our walk was equal parts informative and fascinating, exploring a city we’ve never visited with someone who calls it home, clearly loves it and has so much knowledge, history and trivia and insight to share. We walked, talked, listened and laughed our way around this fascinating and lovely city. Can’t wait to do a Hop on Hop Off bus trip today!

Fantastic experience: I used the busturistico in Oxford last week, thank God it was a wonderful day and with my family we were able to see the corners of this beautiful city, the bus driver was very kind, very polite and friendly, five stars for the company and the driver.

Fantastic experience: Visited Thursday 29th Sept 2016 From the moment we boarded I was hooked, we had a live tour guide, and he swapped over half way round, both male tour guides were very good full of information and the driver was lovely and friendly and chatty, the tour was awesome, I fell in love with Oxford and was delighted to find that the tickets for the Red Tour, enabled us to use the Green tour bus and vice versa. If you are stuck for time only do the Red Tour Bus, the Green one is ok, but nothing like the Red Tour. This tour is a must, we only had one day to do Oxford and this was the best way to do it, literally hundreds of awesome facts about Oxford and who attended University, beautiful buildings, a truly awesome City, unlike Cambridge where the bus tour was a complete waste of money, and I felt hugely disappointed, and let down, no live tour guide, the pre-recorded guide was obviously very old, and had not been updated for several years, most of the buildings were hidden behind trees, making sight of them impossible, and photos were out of the question. Cambridge was "cold" and indifferent, and busy, where as Oxford was warm and friendly and relaxed, I will definitely be returning to Oxford but will never go back to Cambridge.

Fantastic experience: I had the pleasure of taking part on your Oxford Bus Tour on Sunday 2nd July. I on that particular day was unsure of how far I could walk for any length of time. So I decided to use your City Bus Tour in fact I did the whole tour and then half again to take photographs that I had missed on the first time around. It was wonderful especially as I was travelling on my own. I loved hearing Oxfords history especially the parts I hadn't known about. Last but certainly not least I have a special thank you to your operators at control and most of all to Linda the driver of my. Bus. I had put my mobile down on the seat beside me at the front of the bus as I prepares to disembark, It wasn't until after I'd left Bus and looked for my mobile that had all my cards including my disability card I realised I didn't have it but realised exactly where I'd left it"ON THE BUS". Fortunately there were others from my WEEKEND Holiday Bus Tour who had been at the back of the same sightseeing bus and disembarked at the same stop as myself. I had gone back to where we were being picked up by OurBus Caledonian Travels.I was as you could. Imagine pretty upset and didn't know what to do.A fellow passenger came to me and asked,what was wrong and she then sorted it a! Out for me and my own Bus Ðriver was also very helpful. .your amazing driver and telephone operators had got my phone. So extra huge thanks to Oxford City Bus Toura especially Linda. I will be forever grateful Angela Shannon.

Fantastic experience: We did both the bus tour and the walking tour (free with a bus ticket) with this company and it was great! A fantastic way to learn more about the city and it's history. Our walking tour guide, Chris Cochran, was so knowledgeable, remembering dates and events left, right & centre, managing to sneak in toilet trips (in just a 45min tour) and told funny anecdotes about his childhood and life too. Greg was our bus guide and he was hilarious! He pointed out a variety of both gown related and town related sites and shared facts as the bus went round. I'm a huge lover of wally buses but I just adored the Oxford team!

Positive experience: A bit pricey considering 15 minutes of the hour-long tour is spent parked at the bus / train station. Commentary is delivered in either adult or child friendly format through complimentary earbuds but is often either ahead of or behind the buildings / attractions you are supposed to be looking at. Interesting though and the bus driver was friendly and the bus very clean.

Fantastic experience: Better to use bus in good weather than in rain that sometimes can't be avoided. The bus that I was on would do with upstairs wipers on the front windshield. Nice little audio tour but I think it was out of sync few times. Overall nice experience and things you wouldn't necessarily look for or see on foot.

Jumped on and off which is great as you can visit which ever site you want. On one bus we had a live guide (Greg) and he was great very knowledgeable about his home city. Would highly recommend.

Our tour guide, Pete, took us around the city center, and explained about the city history very well. What a fantastic tour! Highly recommended if you visit Oxford.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff in the High Street shop and the bus was comfortable and conveniently timed. The audio description was clear and concise.

Fantastic experience: Great way to see and hear about Oxford, buses run regularly, every 15 minutes during the summer, however there was a delay due to traffic, but this was well publicised in advance. Access to usb charging points on the bus, great idea first time I’ve seen this and should be common across this sector. Tour takes approx 60 minutes and bus was spotlessly clean. There is a walking tour included in the price, but I didn’t do this, but Oxford is a great place for exploring on foot.. Good parking facilities within the shopping centre and reasonably priced.

Fantastic experience: I love the selection of languages available so I always use this seightseeing tour for my family and friends from abroad. The tickets are easy to book and the bus stops are quite regular. I would say the prices are reasonable.

Fantastic experience: Great experience. You can buy a 24 or 48 hour ticket which means you can disembark at any time and get into another bus at any time any where. Gives the flexibility to go into places you find interesting and sightsee more closely. E.g go into one of the oxford colleges or museums. You get earphones to listen in to the guide throughout the trip.
