Fantastic experience: A beautiful trip on the river ouse, very informative commentary ,lovely.

Positive experience: We took the 45 minute sightseeing cruise. Ok but not much to see with bushes blocking some views and nothing too special viewed along the way.

Fantastic experience: Lovely trip, and Andrew was very informative, funny, and friendly.

Negative experience: Pretty average cruise, captain went up the non-historic side (just bushes) for 15mins of the 45min duration. Views were terrible, and guide/captain told bad jokes through distorted sound system. Departed from Lendal Bridge. Save your money and avoid this one. Go for a walk instead.

Negative experience: 1h boat tour along the Ouse. Too expensive for what it is. Wouldn’t recommend. A walk along the river would be nicer. The tour guide did not stop talking for the whole hour and although some info was interesting, it was too loud and a bit annoying.

Fantastic experience: Starting point for a very enjoyable river cruise taking in the sights of York at a relaxed pace. The boat is the best way to see the city's many bridges, and offers a different perspective on the historic buildings lining the waterside. The tour guide was humorous and informative. The cruise lasted about an hour, and prices were reasonable - check online for current rates or buy tickets on the day. Plenty of seating available on the boats.

Her commentary was excellent and she spoke so clearly we could hear and understand everything she said. So often on trips such as this, the commentary is recorded, or unclear, but she really made this trip. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Really good tour of the river. We arrived at 10.15 for a 10.40am tour and were the first there. The lovely ticket lady explained that there would already be people on the boat from Kings Staith. She explained we could get off at Kings Staith or get off back at Lendal Bridge. Umbrellas were available if it rained. Great commentary about the wildlife, floods, history, names of parks. A really really good way to see York

Fantastic experience: Excellent trip. Caught the first one of the day at 10.40am.people arriving and queuing from about 10.20.boat arrives with some people from King's pic up but still lots of space. The captain gave running commentary and did share alot of really good info. You go down the ouse one way for 10mins then back through town which is the best bit then out to the millennium bridge and back. Drop off at King's or back to lendal. They had a bar for drinks/food but it's only 50mins so why would you? Very good simple boat trip

Fantastic experience: On our first day in York we wanted to kill some time inbetween sightseeing on foot, so when we saw City Cruises were running throughout the day it was perfect for us for a 45 minute relaxing ride up and down the river. Our skipper was absolutely hilarious and we thoroughly enjoyed his insightful and knowledgable commentary on various things around York.( as well as some of the best Dad jokes ) We both wish you a fantastic wedding coming up. Jokes aside, the trip was really interesting and we learnt a lot about a few things from the story behind Clifford’s Tower, to the origins of Guy Fawkes. Such a lovely trip which was perfect today as it was sunny , so sitting up top was a must. We wanted to see Clifford’s Tower afterwards so we jumped off on the first stop/pick up, but I believe they stop off/ pick up just by the Yorkshire Museum/Gardens aswell. (For May anyways, not sure if they double up the pick ups usually but it was handy for us) Defo worth it.

Fantastic experience: Took the grandsons on a Santa Cruise, unfortunately the river was too high to set sail. That didn't matter the grandchildren had a great time, your Santa was wonderful. And the gifts were Amazing, all 3 boys were delighted with a wonderful individual gift. If this is anything to go by, I would have no worries about booking a river outing with you. Negative experience: Office party aboard the party night afloat, 15 of us and not one of us would return. The food was appalling for the price of the tickets, next to nothing left. Can't knock the staff though they were great, but such poor facilities. Disappointed, 1 star is too much!

Positive experience: Not really much to see, so I'd swerve this one if I were you.

Interesting commentary throughout the journey, a good mix of information and light hearted jokes! Bar on board as well for drinks & snacks, a good way to spend some time on a sunny day!

Fantastic experience: A lovely cruise in York. It lasted an hour. The captain was informative and engaging. He said his name was Andy, or was it Dave?!

Negative experience: Overpriced tours of the river. Essentially acts as the common tourist trap in the centre of York. Doesn't take you anywhere particularly interesting, and doesn't last nearly long enough for the amount of money you're paying. If you want to explore the river and local area you'll be much better off walking around the area and saving some money to see the exact same things (but from a much better angle). The captains and crews appear incompetent and were overheard sitting and drinking on the landing dock (while in still full uniform) one evening boasting and laughing about how often they have crashed the boats into Lendal Bridge. The crew also don't care for or respect the local animals, particularly the Geese and birds that frequent this area.

Negative experience: Wasn't worth £14...you couldn't hear the comments speakers weren't working and didn't really go very far.

Positive experience: Lovely day but unless your sitting at the side you actually cannot see anything around you other than looking up. Good commentary to start with then after a while became difficult to understand, so gave up. Not great value to be honest, wouldn't bother again.

Positive experience: If you're visiting York be sure to go on one of the City River Sightseeing cruises. They are about an hour long and give you a great riverside experience of the city and its historic city walls.

Fantastic experience: Staff was very friendly, boats were in good condition. Spent 27£ for the two of us for a 1hr long boat ride along the river Ouse. On a sunny day like today it’s great even though the boat ride itself does not really offer stunning views. Commentary is interesting though.

Fantastic experience: I really loved this tour and I had a great time! The cruise is very gentle on the river Ouse and our captain was a great tour guide too. I enjoyed Kris’ commentary, “bad” jokes and knowledge he passed onto us. I would totally do this again and recommend it to others. Fun tour of York and a great way to see the city and learn more about it.

Fantastic experience: This was such a good experience that I'd recommend for anyone who is in the city! The 1 hour tour guided cruise we had from lendal bridge was such great value for money! £35 for a family of 4. Stew, our captain and tour guide was so funny and informative!, he was great!

Fantastic experience: Boats are blue not red,, self hire ones ! Engine a little noisey once inside but doesn't take away the fun, U get to go through 4 bridges and back again then on to two more bridges before returning,, U can't smoke but who would notice if u did,, u have to book it online . All in all worth the 35 pound paid,roughly one hour.

Fantastic experience: Amazing way to spend some time and see the city from a different perspective! We did it in quite good weather but it would’ve been just as amazing in colder weather. Super dog friendly and the staff were lovely :) There was even an ice cream boat that you could by from the water, on the journey! See pictures.

Negative experience: The tour was good, but the 'Captain' was pretty poor. Not a great speaker, not very engaging, and half of what we could hear was pretty outdated 'banter' that waded into misogynist territory more than once. Bring headphones!

Fantastic experience: We always try to fit in a river cruise whenever we visit York as we always enjoy the experience immensely. On this occasion the Covid-19 procedures in place were excellent, and the staff were as friendly and helpful as ever. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: A really relaxing ride up and down the river. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Booking online was easy and clear. We were a fairly large group and space was set aside in advance without us even asking, which was a really thoughtful thing from the staff. Informative commentary along the route and a cider in the sunshine made this a lovely chance to be a tourist for once in a city that we know very well and visit regularly.

Fantastic experience: It was quite relaxing and the skipper was amusing and very factual. Great price. One thing a I want to say if you are smaller in height the boat steps were a bit large to step on but all-in all I really enjoyed it. Would go again and recommend to anyone to try it. It can get a bit chilly too.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing hour. Shame the weather didnt hold and the rains did come in during the cruise. But alas you cant do anything about that. The cruise was wonderful and smooth and a thoroughly relaxing hour learning all about the sights of york city. Laurie was our skipper and he was very pleasant, cheerful, open and knowledgable throughout amd eleanor provided wonderful service on the bar. Both couldnt do enough for you. Highly recommended!!!!!

Positive experience: Santa Cruise. Unfortunate we couldn't sail due to the height of the river but it didn't spoil the experience and the voucher to come back free in better weather conditions more than made up for it.

Negative experience: Booked a boat cruise for myself and children in August however it got cancelled due to the river flooding ( which isn't the boat companys fault) but I'm still waiting for my refund from August 2020 which just isn't good enough, they never answer the phone and when they have done i was told head office would refund and it could take upto 6 weeks. That's been and gone and surprise surprise it hasn't been refunded. Really disappointed with the service

Negative experience: Staff and boat were very accommodating. However the trip itself is pointless, there’s nothing to see. The guide was pointing out buildings like the post office or residential buildings, there’s not much history along the river at all.

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed the cruise as part of the YorkPass scheme. Very informative guide who was able to fit some light humour in during the journey. If the weather is good enough would highly recommend. Didn't use any facilities or purchase any drinks whilst on board so can't comment on those. During half term approximately 1/4 of the boat was filled. Bring a camera as you may get some good photo opportunities of the York Minster.

Fantastic experience: Lovely cruise on the river Ouse which lasts just over an hour, and is a welcome break after all that walking around the fair city of York. Our captain and guide Keith kept us all well informed about all the sites along the banks of the Ouse, with lots of local history info as well, and added in a few good dad jokes for good measure, he had a great dry sense of humour. If you are lucky you might see a steam train passing on the railway bridge along the way, a lovely nostalgic site on a sunny summer's day. So if you want to relax for an hour in the sunshine, take a short cruise on the river Ouse. Because believe me my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
