Positive experience: Very average ghost walk, the guy himself plays the part but he takes you to some very average areas of York and his stories do not match up with the history of York at all.

Negative experience: Terrible quality tour, please Google this man’s name before going on it. I was appalled when I found out who I gave my money too.

Positive experience: Good hour long tour going around the centre of York, funny tour guide - I did have water thrown at me by the guide at one point and he has a route with joke-y actions aimed more at younger kids. Would recommend for families.

Negative experience: Pretty naff and we wanted to leave early but didn't out of politeness. The host was perfect for a ghost tour, with a great costume and mildly humoured performance, but the positives stop there. Ticket inspection and intro lasted way too long as did each story. The stories could have been told in half the time and in the end there were only 3 stories told with 3 buildings visited, and these weren't that interesting. With the history that York has, the stories and the walk could have been much better and could have even been historically accurate. We were disappointed the tour didn't take us to more interesting places. We spent over 10 minutes outside a restaurant being directed to pull faces at the diners there- uncomfortable for the whole group and the diners. 2 star review is being generous.

Fantastic experience: Very well delivered ghost stories, plenty of humour and audience participation. The background information of these hauntings was explained well, details of the people that actually lived in the buildings that today are said to be haunted and why these souls are still here. We never struggled to hear what was said or struggled to see what was being talked about. Highly recommend booking on this tour.

Fantastic experience: This is just a little bit of fun. The guide was fun and in character.. Maybe not so suitable for kids as some stories were about kids falling from building and dying! Expected more story telling but lots of walking around. The weather was terrible so we left early!

Negative experience: I wouldn't advise taking children on this tour, especially due to the criminal record of the guide Andrew auster which can be found on Google.

Fantastic experience: The Ghost hunt of York fans absolutely fantastic, the entire crowd got involved in the tour, the host knew what he was doing and was scary at the right moments and funny at others. Not only was it an entertaining experience with a nice walk around York it was extremely funny.

Negative experience: No historical information, and just stand up comedian. Waste of money

Fantastic experience: Did not know what to expect, but we were blown away by the guide. The stories and history were very interesting and well told. I have not laughed so much in such appalling weather conditions, great way to spend 75 minutes and a nice way to explore a little bit of Central York. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Negative experience: Appauling! Do not bother. Children would find this cringe. Ghostly stories are poor. Dramatic pauses to pad it out. Last bit is scaring people in a restaurant. Waste of money. Really annoyed.

Positive experience: This was not the spooky ghost tour we'd hoped for. Me and my mum love ghost stories and watching programmes about the paranormal. We found the leaflet at the hotel and then booked it for that night. The host was great he was funny and engaging. But I really wish it had been spooky and we would have heard more ghost stories. It was a bit like a pantomime and had lots of audience participation for silly parts that ruined the eeriness of the true stories he was telling. They also spent 15/20 mins having us set up a fake scenario at an Italian restaurant where we pulled silly faces at people trying to eat their dinner. Would pick a different one next time

Fantastic experience: This has to be the most fun and funny 66 minutes and 6 seconds I’ve ever spent. Definitely a must in York.

Negative experience: Do not waste your money, tried this out as had loads of good reviews but it was absolutely terrible. For example, they said the most haunted building in York was haunted by a girl that got locked in during the black plague, but it clearly stated on the building that it was built in 1891?? Absolutely no information about history or anything, just made up stories about little children that didn’t really make sense. A lot of people ended up leaving the tour before it even finished. Despite this, the tour guide was a good story teller, just obviously didn’t have the right material as the stories were so bad they were almost comical. A real shame our group spent over £120 on this as could’ve gone out for a nice dinner.

Fantastic experience: Amazing tour. The guide is a excellent showman, providing a dry witty humour to balance the very interesting but dark subject matter. There was even an incident with a less than pleasant member of the public that the guide dealt with with excellent skill. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: We booked this last year but ended up missing it. We visited York a year later and randomly bumped into the guide and mentioned what happened, so he gave us some free tickets, this time we made sure we were on time. What a great experience, very entertaining, interesting and a great way to spend 45-60 minutes,. Great if you’re with a few friends., I’d definitely do it again

Fantastic experience: Went as part of our honeymoon treat. The host handed us a flyer at the perfect time as we were heading towards a café to look for a ghost walk. The host was fantastic, had great patter with the audience and knew perfectly how to deal with his drunk brother who attempted to ruin the tour. The stories were fantastic and delivered well. If you're in York and looking to do a ghost tour you'd struggle to find a better tour.

Fantastic experience: Alright if you do a ghosthunt in York make it this one! The guide was fantastic! As a performer myself I can say it takes a lot for me to not think of the 'backstage' and enjoy the experience but he really managed to get me enwrapped. The tour was really fun, he had impcable humour and he managed to make us all suspend our disbelief even though we did the tour in the middle of summer, in plain daylight and on one of the hottest days in the Uk. Even despite all of this some of the stories really chilled us (at least something did) he combined the fun superstious side of ghost stories with a bit of history as well and all jokes aside he was amazing!

We are not from York, so the fact the tour was on really made our time in the city fantastic. Plus as the tour guide was from York, we got some really good recommendations for places to eat and other executing things to do in the city. Would highly recommend, both me and my Wife had a fantastic evening.

Positive experience: A fun little romp, although we arrived on time and couldn't find our guide - we think our group left a little early. We found them but were accused of freeloading and struggled to find a chance to explain we had bought tickets. When we did show proof, this went kind of unacknowledged? Made the experience a little stiff and uncomfortable after that, although the guide was a great character. Fun for kids and families.

Positive experience: NOT little kid friendly. Though for 12s and up, or adult parties a good time. Giving three stars as no punches were pulled and seemed to be accentuated, for a small overall outing with two under 8s with most stories about small children dying by accident, purposeful abandonment, or mass murder.

Negative experience: Advertised as 66 minutes, was just over 30 minutes. Still charged 10 per person. Not scary, many of the stories felt random and lacked context - hard to follow. Wouldn’t recommend the tour with Trevor- sorry

Fantastic experience: We met up with our tour guide and was really looking forward to finding out the history of york but whilst we were looking for our tickets online on our phone we lost the group (idiots) so the following day we messaged andy to explain.. he was very understanding and very kindly refunded our money plus the booking fee.. we didnt expect that at all as it was completely our faults.. we will definately be booking for a future trip

Nether the less, whilst the stories have a spooky undertone this is a great piece of theatre and suitable for all. The guide never broke character and clearly has a passion for the arts. No concerns with larger group and not being able to hear/see. A good bit of fun and worth the small cost. Definitely recommend doing the latest session.
