Fantastic experience: Tourist information always great. But never recommend the Raj for food. Tried it and a real bad toilet experience. Don't know what they cook with, bleach maybe, nothing like proper Indian cuisine.

Fantastic experience: I believe the office has moved and we struggled to find it. However a phone call to the tourist officer working there soon resolved that. She was able to answer all our questions and make lots of interesting suggestions. Very helpful.

Negative experience: I wanted possibly the most basic piece of information you could want , a bus map of York, and they don't stock them. Seriously.

Negative experience: As the park & ride on the road from Harrogate was closed, I foolishly decided to try & park in York. The car park by the Novotel wanted £10 in coins for 4 hours (who carries that amount of coinage on them?); The credit card reader was broken; there is a phone number you can ring (nice if you own a mobile phone which I don't); you can use an app apparently (ditto last comment). Eventually I just gave up & drove on to Harrogate (which is easy to park in & very nice to visit). Obviously York doesn't want tourists who drive so be warned!

Negative experience: Visited via internet only. A very poor range of general information on York. Almost everything was to do with services with costs. What is most important regarding a place is access to free information for the public

Fantastic experience: If you want a good time, go to York! Filled with a rich history of medieval, viking, Georgian and Victorian history, you can really appreciate the true heritage that comes with being a brit. I can't recall most of this however because I spent most of the time and tour bus intoxicated. I do however recall going to shambles and seeing alot of Harry Potter and Game of thrones memorabilia. Again, I was a bit p**sed. But please feel free to visit. If you're looking for a sunny beach however, go Spain, no one needs your anti-british attitude. I often felt confused as to whether I was in York, or some kind of Amsterdam knock off woth all the bridges. It was nice though. Thanks York.
