Allen's Tours offers a range of exciting day trips across Northern Ireland, known for their stunning scenery and fun experiences. Many travelers have praised their knowledgeable and entertaining guides, such as Lindsey and Ben, who have received accolades for their ability to make the tours both informative and enjoyable. Highlights include the breathtaking Giant's Causeway and the picturesque Antrim Coast, where guests can marvel at the views and enjoy storytelling that brings the history of the area to life.

While many reviews commend the tours, some guests noted a few areas that need improvement. Issues raised include:

  • Inconsistent communication and organizational challenges, such as overbooking and incorrect drop-off locations.
  • Concerns about the condition of some buses, including cleanliness and functionality of amenities like the restroom and audio systems.
  • Limited time at certain stops, which some tourists felt detracted from the experience.
  • Various reports of staff being unhelpful or rude, particularly at the booking office.

Despite these criticisms, the positive experiences shared by numerous visitors showcase the potential for a memorable adventure with Allen's Tours. Negative experience: J'ai donné une note de 2/5 sur getyourguide et il mont kicker off du bus a 3h de route de l'endroit où ils étaient supposé me ramener.

Positive experience: No complaints about the staff especially the coach driver or the coach itself. The tour itself was OK. The reference to GOT in the Giants Causeway tour is a little misleading, at only one site did the driver reference GOT so if some other sites were used for filming we were somewhat oblivious to it. Certainly didn't see any dragons! Probably not for GOT fans. Not a tour for those with weak bladders as there is a two hour gap between comfort stops and apparently the toilet on the bus can't be used because there is no where to dispose of the waste. I guess only the Irish would buy a coach with a toilet they can't use? Despite our ticket clearly stating we would be dropped off where we boarded that didn't happen. Got dropped off at City Hall which was about 15 min walk to our accommodation, fortunately it wasn't raining otherwise we would be having discussions about breach of contract.

Positive experience: I enjoyed the tour. Marty the driver was very knowledgeable and funny. He kept us on schedule despite there being some entitled people that thought a bus load of people should wait on them while they waltzed in late.

Negative experience: Honestly, this is outrageous, it was a rushed day, not even time to enjoy the sights. We spend our time on the bus. You won't go on the Carrick rope bridge; you'll just have 10 minutes to see it from afar. You'll have 1 hour for lunch and rush to see the avenue of beech trees. You'll be dropped off at a distillery and have 15 minutes (but what can you do in 15 minutes?). Finally, the icing on the cake is the Giant's Causeway visit where you'll only have 1 hour on-site. Be careful, 20 minutes walking to get there and 20 minutes back, which means only 20 minutes to enjoy the site you came to see! In the morning, we left late, and in the evening instead of arriving at 6:30 PM, we'll arrive in Belfast at 5:10 PM! There's a problem, right? In conclusion, this operator is just a money-making scheme. Look elsewhere because for a few extra euros, you might have a much more interesting day. One positive point, though: the driver was nice and interesting.

Negative experience: Avoid booking this company, they have bad service service, the only decent thing was the driving however it was not a guided tour whatsoever, the speaker on the bus/ the microphone was very temperamental, the next day we were meant to have a city tour and the driver was already in a foul mood, we asked if there was any chance of a smaller bus and he stormed back into the bus told us "we don't have to deal with you people in Belfast" and SHUT THE DOOR on my mum who was calmly and respectfully asking to speak to the boss to see if we could figure out a different plan. This type of behaviour is unprofessional, let me just save you the time of day and tell you to just do a normal city bus tour.

Negative experience: I would highly not recommend booking anything with Allen's Tours . We had an awful experience. Their phone number is offline and they do not respond on their email. We couldn't reach them in any way, shape, or form to let them know of our concerns, and from other reviews it seems like they generally don't care. We booked two tickets for the Giant's Causeway tour that was stated to be from 09:30 to 17:30 on their website. We arrived 10 minutes earlier to a full bus we were denied entry to. They did put us on a later bus that did at 09:30. However that other bus was dirty and the seats were broken. We ended up returning at 18:15, 45 minutes after the actual return time and it wasn't due to traffic or poor time management but simply due to the fact that the tour took more time than stated implying poor planning and communication from management. This wouldn't have been an issue but we planned our day in according to the original return time. In addition to that, the tour bus driver sounded very bored and kept stating that he "doesn't know" about places we drove by. Exactly what you want to hear from a tour bus driver that was supposedly the tour guide as well, on a tour that costs 35gbp a person. In general, the tour bus driver lacked any sort of passion or interest (at least that's what it felt like) about the tour. Throughout the tour, the bus driver kept mentioning places to the left, right or front (how do you look out the front of a bus???) that we could not see (we as in everyone on the bus looked confused every time he mentioned a place). This made the ride feel like a glorified taxi service. The main bit of the tour, the Giant's Causeway, was the cherry on top. Reaching that area, the tour bus driver told us really nothing of value about the place. The only thing he said is that we can pay for an audio tour that was 15gbp if we want but we don't have to. This is an insult. After paying 35gbp for a tour, in order to enjoy the main bit, we had to pay 15gbp more. Not even a small discount. We ended up just looking online for explanations and stories about the place. After the almost two hours we spent at the Giant's Causeway, not fully knowing what to look at. We got back on the bus and the tour bus driver starts telling us, in the most boring voice he has, the history of it (prefixed by "I am not sure" and "I don't know") and a bit of the mythology which was told in such a bad way, the Wikipedia article about it looks like a masterpiece of literature next to it. If you are really looking for a tour of those specific points, it would be cheaper to just rent a car of 4 people and and have someone read on Wikipedia about those points. You'd get much more information, and the experience is going be leagues above what you can get from Allen's Tours.

Fantastic experience: The Giant's Causeway tour was superb - so many beautiful places to see & our driver, Paul, was a mine of information, a wonderful storyteller & extremely well organised, helpful & courteous. Thank you! My expectations were high, but Allen's Tours surpassed them all. Visiting the Giant's Causeway was one of the best experiences of my life; the Antrim Coastal Road was stunning; & although I've never watched Game of Thrones, the Dark Hedges were incredible. Don't miss this tour!

Fantastic experience: Benn Allen is the best! He made us laugh all day. He is entertaining, knowledgeable, born and raised in Belfast, knows about the history (good and bad) and all the stories of his country. He is genuine, energetic and fun. He has nice music on the bus between stops, when he takes a break from talking . He deserves all the best. He has been the highlight of our 15 days trip around the UK. Cheers

Negative experience: We visited Giant's Causeway today, an absolutely stunning place that is definitely worth seeing. However, the transport service left a lot to be desired. For an almost eight-hour trip, the bus had no bathroom or air conditioning, which was a big issue, especially for older passengers. They had to open the door at the top of the bus just to get some air. During a two-hour stretch with no bathroom stops, several of us, including two elderly people, had to hold it for almost an hour. The driver/guide was not very empathetic; he drove quickly and, when we mentioned we needed a bathroom, he rudely told us to “hold it in.” To make matters worse, he made inappropriate comments, saying that paying the £16 to enter Giant's Causeway was a waste of money, which we found completely unnecessary. We loved the visit, but his comments really soured the experience. The beauty of the site is undeniable, but the tour service needs serious improvement in terms of customer care and consideration.

clémence Pottez Jouatte 9 months ago

Negative experience: The service does not correspond to what is sold on the website. Yesterday's schedule: a 20-minute stop at Carrickfergus Castle. Just enough time to take photos. The 'guide' is not with us and explains practically nothing (2-minute speech to explain that this Norman castle was used until World War II. That's the explanation). Then a 20-minute break at a viewpoint to take photos of Carrick-a-Rede (the rope bridge), which we will not visit. The lunch break does not take place in Bushmills but in a very small village = no possibility to buy souvenirs because there are no shops. The cherry on top: the Giant's Causeway where once again the 'guide' will not be with us. We are left in the parking lot, then figure it out for yourselves, we’ll meet back in 1 hour and 40 minutes. We have a recap afterwards in 5 minutes 'it’s a lava flow but we prefer the legend of the two giants. There you go.' We make a stop in Bushmills. Instead of dropping us off in the center, he drops us off in front of the distillery, but since we only have a 20-minute break, it is impossible to go back and forth to the city center or visit the distillery. The only reason we are stopped here is obviously to visit the distillery shop. And then again a 30-minute stop at Dark Hedges. 3 minutes of explanation about what it is. So it's sold on the site as the great expertise of the guides, who are not guides at all but bus drivers giving explanations that you can read on the internet. The breaks are only for taking photos since there is no time to visit (except for the Giant's Causeway). Luckily the beauty of what we see makes up for all this. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Lynsey was fantastic!! What a tour . The causeway and other stops were amazing but Lynsey was the star of the show.

Fantastic experience: Great tour of Belfast with stops also at Bushmills Distillery, Giants Causeway and Dark Hedges. Ben our driver was friendly, knowledgeable and very funny.

Holly Taylor-Smith 9 months ago

Negative experience: Not given enough time to stop and rude comments made if you are late even if you have genuine reasons such as being with an older person who can’t run round each attraction that you’re only given 20 minutes for. Halfway through the trip the aircon stopped working meaning the bus was an absolute sweatbox and to make it worse the tour guide doesn’t allow you to talk even to the person you are next to so the whole coach sat in silence even when the tour guide had nothing to say. The bus driver also scraped the coach along a wall on a tight road leaving us feeling unsafe. On top of this where you go for lunch is an absolute dive. Rude staff mocked us for having dietary requirements and we were left paying £15 for a plate of rice, chips and beans as any dietary requirements are not catered for. Plus the staff at the hotel mocked us for this and left me in tears.

Fantastic experience: We had a very enjoyable visit to the giants causeway and game of thrones sets originating from Belfast. Our tour guide Lindsay was phenomenal and gave us lots of entertainment throughout the journey! It was very easy to book and check in.

Positive experience: Booked the Giant's Causeway tour through the hotel in June. It is NOT a fully guided tour, it is just commentary by the bus driver. And the sound system is BAD. All we could hear was some soft mumbling. But it is not the driver's fault; we told him the problem and he tried to adjust but it was just BAD audio. We were seated at the back of the bus as we were the last to be picked up and the bus was full. For Allen'sTours managers - please fix the audio system so EVERYONE can enjoy the commentaries. Aside from that, the driver was courteous and careful and always gave a time to be back at the bus for each stop. There was sufficient time for all stops. The view along the coastal drive was nice too. But without the commentaries we just did not get the full tour experience, else would have given a higher rating.

Positive experience: It's okay. I took the Causeway and Game of Thrones tour. I took the plunge because I figured the other stops would be interesting but they weren't (The Dark Hedges was especially disappointing). And because of all the detours, you only really get an hour to explore the Giants Causeway, which is a shame because it deserves a lot longer (they give you 1.5 hours but it takes a 15 minute walk to get to an interesting place from the stop they drop you at, so it really becomes just a single hour). If your only interest is in the Causeway, don't take the risk and just get the direct bus to it. Otherwise you'll regret it.

Allen's Tours

We normally have 1 hour and 45 minutes at the Causeway and if you read the itinerary carefully it provides a summary of the places that you will be stopping at.

bindusree k 10 months ago

Negative experience: It was not worth paying for the cost offered. As a couple who traveled a couple of weeks ago for our first visit, the package was described as having many stops, and there were 30-minute stopovers at a few places but driver didn’t stop. The driver seemed uninterested in the trip, and we felt like we just wasted our time, day, and money.

Abigail Meyers 10 months ago

Negative experience: Will not at all recommended choosing this service for touring around Belfast and Ireland. Not worth the £50 we spent on it. We booked the Causeway tour from Belfast and right off the bat many management issues surfaced - 1. Passengers were asked to deboard the bus and get ourselves checked in at their office. This would have been avoided if they had already informed us to do so or just carried a print of the booked passengers for the day with them. 2. The first bus filled up so we had to wait for another one to pick up the remaining batch of tourists. It had started raining quite heavily and still we were waiting to be seated. We were supposed to leave at 9:30 but all this hubub caused the bus to depart at 10:30. Also, I'm not very sure how often they clean the busses, but there was mold and moss growing in the window sills and in the surrounding areas. I did not wish to imagine the state of the seats we were sitting on. 3. Did not cover the aforementioned Rope bridge, one of the most famous spots we had been looking forward to; because our bus was way too big and couldn't go down there. I would recommend not over booking so as to deliver on your itinerary and being able to manage smaller batches of tourists and smaller sizes of buses. 4. The PA system in the bus broke down halfway , we couldn't hear our driver telling us important facts about the places we were passing. 5. We stopped at Dark hedges hotel for lunch - will not recommend eating anything there. Allen Tours must have a tie up with them, for we were given a small card for 10% discount and had to get something from the buffet there which was the only option. The food was abominable there, I would recommend carrying your lunch and saving your 20 quid per plate. 6. Bus broke down at the last stop so we had to wait over an hour for another bus to come get us. Although no one is to be blamed, the time was such that any bathroom/cafe services around had closed down so we were highly inconvenienced.

Fantastic experience: Our coach driver, Ben, gave us an extremely hilarious, pleasurable journey. We laughed our socks off for the best part of the tour, while digesting a great deal of informative information. A truely wonderful experience. Thank you.

Negative experience: We had one of the worst experience which made us not to come back to Northern Ireland anytime and also to opt Allens tours .Will never ever recommend the travels to any of our friends and family. We took allen tours through get your guide one day trip and paid around 50£ for the trip. The driver usually gives a timeline to get-back from each place and we were early from the allocated time from all the places .We personally saw when a couple was late in Dark hedges the driver went and called them and made sure all are in and to add on the couple were the natives .Giants causeway was the last stop and the driver told us to comeback by 5 since because of the steep sloping roads and health condition and also the shuttle bus services were stopped we had to come back walking.we were on the coach stop by 5:10 and the coach just left without picking us leaving us stranded in a place where we wont get a public transport. The last bus of the public transport was at 4:30 and we still didn't know how to get back and with help of few local people we had hop off and on different buses and train which cost us extra of the amount we paid.Doesn't know how someone can be so inhuman and at the same time showing favouritism to native people. An act of inhumanity with racism. When we called the customer care of the travels they also advised to take public transport from a place where there is only limited access .

Positive experience: The trip was beautiful. We just got a driver from hell. Marty the maniac. Until the Mull of Kintyre, it was a nauseating experience over narrow coastal roads. As a tourist, you want to see something. Not have everything fly by. I mentioned that I was feeling sick from the nauseating tour. Luckily, he drove a bit more calmly afterwards. The Dark Hedges and the Causeway Coast were really fantastic, which justified the bad experiences. My advice: take the tour, but not with Marty the maniac.

Negative experience: Had an awful experience booking with this tour company. Wasn’t clear on our booking that we had to get a boat to our pick up location, so we went directly to the tour office to seek assistance. Once we arrived we had an extremely condescending unhelpful member of staff who made us feel terrible about being in the wrong location. He went on and on about our mistake, made us look at every single page available to point out where we should have been and when we said that it wasn’t clear he lost his temper and turned around to say he was not letting us on our booked tour and he was going to sell our tickets. There shouldn’t be someone unfriendly and rude working at a tour centre, staff should be friendly and hospitable. We even had a sweet gentlemen who works for the company apologise to us when we left the shop. Avoid!!!!

Johann Vesely 1 year ago

Negative experience: First off: I'm aware that we got very unlucky with our Allen's Tours experience on the 6th of May, 2024, but still: what we went through is unacceptable. Starting with the one positive aspect: Rachel, our Tour guide, was great - her storytelling, her joyfulness and, most importantly for the people that attended this trip, her ability to step up and take responsibilty: Even though it wasn't hers to bear on that day, she did the best she could do to make the best out of the situation. Big props and thanks to her. Now, the reason I can't give any more than 1 star is a mixture of a few happenings: The organizational chaos we went through, false promises made and lastly the immensely careless driving our our driver that led to an accident (to be exact: A series of accidents) that was very distressing and very dangerous. About the organizational matters: We were originally supposed to attend the tour on the 5th of May. We did a last minute change to get picked up at Carrickfergus instead of at Belfast and got it confirmed. The next day, we were waiting to be picked up at Carrick. The bus arrived and we intended to check in with our driver... we wished. He only had one place left and couldn't get us on. He apologized and proposed for us to do the tour the next day. We told him we couldn't, as we had already bought non-refundable tickets for the Titanic museum for the day in question. He told us not to worry, as they'd arrange to swap the appointments. Slightly annoying occurence at the time, but could happen - he was very nice to us and even provided us with a 10£ note to buy tickets back to Belfast, where we should sort everything out with their office (?). Long story short, we arrived at the designated place and talked to the people we were told would be able to sort things out with Titanic. Well, they couldn't do it, as Titanic were "their own company". They couldn't help us in any way. We went to the manager of Allen's Tours, Gary Allen, and he provided us with a 48 hour ticket for the "hop on, hop off" - sightseeing buses, for that we at least could be driven to Titanic, to sort things out in person with them ourselves. Little did we know, that because of a marathon, the driver couldn't get us to Titanic. Good thing I noticed, or we would've been driven to god-knows where. We hopped off the bus, phone called Titanic and sorted things out with them. Then, it dawned upon me: If the verbal confirmation of the bus driver we encountered in the morning didn't help us much, could we even be sure about us being on the tour the next day? Hence, my girlfriend and I walked back to the manager from where we got out of the bus, and I waited by his side for half an hour, until the people sending the confirmations finally got my e-Mail right and sent me the message I so desperatly sought. Little did we know that we would be thankful for leaving Belfast alive the next day... We got on the bus and began to drive through the absolutely stunning landscapes of Northern Ireland. Until something happened: Our driver who was driving as if he was in a hurry underestimated or oversaw a bump in a curve, which led to the chassis of the bus briefly bumbing against the road, resulting in a crack in the bus' windshield (we witnessed everything firsthand as we were seated in the first row). Little shocker, but we kept driving. Quite fast. The next thing happened: On the left side of the road, a tree stood with a branch sticking out that crashed into the left rear view mirror and absolutely demolished it. Big shocker. At this point, no one in the bus was feeling safe anymore. As my girlfriend and I were involved in a serious car accident just 8 months before (which for her resulted in trauma), the two of us felt especially unsafe. As I'm reaching the wordcount limit of this review, I'll keep the worst thing brief: We got into a very dangerous situation and, once evacuated, weren't provided with the option of a return to Belfast. Highly unprofessional behaviour! I know it's an extreme situation, but as a company, there should be measures ready.

Negative experience: These events took place on Giant's causeway/dark edge tour organized by allan's tours on 6th of May 2024. On one hand when our bus went off the road and got stuck, Rachel our tour guide was amazing and very responsible. She took charge and lead us to safety as quickly as humanly possible. During the journey, she shared lores and anecdotes and managed to set us back on track for the remainder of the tour. On the other hand, the first driver we had drove recklessly fast and we had several close call disaster before we ended stuck in the ditch. He was too fast, did not seem to follow the limitations of the roads and use the break strongly indicating a lack of anticipation. I don't know wether the number of stops and duration of the tour are compatible or make for a journey that need to be run that fast leading to the endangerment of the passager and workers. All I know is that we are lucky that we only got stuck in a ditch and that the bus did not rolled over. I don't recommend this tours but I highly praised the level mindedness of our guide Rachel. We did end up seeing the Giant's causeway but the journey was really horrendous.

Negative experience: Our tour guide, Lindsey, was friendly and I had no complaints about. However I was lied to about the drop-off location which I had inquired in advance and did not even receive a proper apology from reception. And to be honest, I think them arguing here against customers' criticism just shows their class. Cheers!

Negative experience: We had a really unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend Allen's Tour to the Giant's Causeway. They allocated only 10 minutes at many stops, but it took up to 5 minutes to disembark from the fully crowded bus. We were given just 1 hour for lunch and to see the Dark Hedges. The lunch venue was a sponsored cafe with only 2 employees serving two fully-loaded buses. We barely had time to eat, had to quickly change or opt for take-away, and ended up eating on the bus. The Dark Hedges remained unseen due to the rushed schedule. The planning was terrible, and the choice of a venue without the capacity to handle so many people was a poor decision. About 10 people rushed back to the bus with their food in hand.

Fantastic experience: The highlight of my North Ireland trip, it was organized. Lidnsey our tour guide and driver was super funny and informative… I did the Giant Causeway tour, it has several short stops, and the main two Dark Hedges and Giant Causeway. The views are breathtaking! Get early to the bus if you want to be able to choose nice stop in the bus. (Specially the windows), be prepared for a long day, but a very fill and fun day!

Fantastic experience: We had a great time with Allen's tours. Beautiful sights of the coast, cute little towns, the vanishing lake , giants causeway and game of thrones sites. Our guide Lindsey was very humorous, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and kept the entire trip fun and adventurous with the right amount of breaks :). Would definitely recommend if in Northern Ireland. Book direct with them rather than agent.

Positive experience: The tour goes through very beautiful places and we have a good amount of time to explore the Giants Causeway, but the itinerary mentions crossing a suspension bridge that we didn't even see. It would be better to remove it from the itinerary.

Thanks for your review and your comments, especially about the Giant's Causeway. We go to a viewpoint to see the bridge.

Positive experience: The tour was good value for money but the guide was a little strict shouting at people on the bus to stop talking. He then talked a lot with the dad jokes but didn't give any info on the giants causeway which was disappointing

Gill Wilson 1 year ago

Positive experience: Mixed bag. Lovely countryside and things to see but not a lot of time to see them all. Didn't have time to go into Carrick Fergus castle. Food stop was not great, especially for vegans...take a sandwich or something. Good info on the way out of Belfast but there was nothing about the Giants Causeway or even about the wildlife or how people lived out of the city. I would have been interested to know about how the Giants Causeway formed and the legends around it. Driver stuck strictly to time which was good. Cheesy Dad style humour not for me though. Good value for £30 pp. Very busy so make sure you book and get there early for a decent seat.

Negative experience: ***updated after reply from *** Please take this as a constructive review and find the gaps which allowed the booking to proceed as a success. I would have been fine if I would have got straight failed booking / or no available slots, a night before at the time of booking (is not last minute) and could have planned something else, than to know at the last minute that you/your associates overbooked. if you really closed the booking the booking should not generate a booking confirmation its your system find the GAP and fix it to make things right and avoid these type of reviews in future).. its not just a vendetta against your company ,this wasted a precious day and hence this feedback. P.S.: no one should tolerate any abusive or threatening behavior or foul language neither you as a business or us as customers. [which i had to face by your rude receptionist] so I humbly request you to provide some customer service skills training to your staff (i am not the first to report rude staff behavior ) instead of taking this constructive feedback individually please work on fixing these issue as a serious business. which i am sure you aspire to be. +1 star for your reply. ***Updated*** it was a bad experience. Awful management The receptionist was rude. (A common theme in reviews here) I can see they even awarded someone "stupidest customer of the year award" speaks for their level of customer service shame on you Allen's tour!! I had a successful booking with confirmation number only to know that they cannot find my booking then I was offered the refund on the date of the tour. (how could I be offered a refund if they could not find my booking??) Overbooking? This all wasted my family's day.

Allen's Tours

As it was explained to you at the time, your booking went through after we had closed the bookings down. As you had booked at the last minute for a tour in a busy peak holiday period, your family day was only planned at the last minute, therefore you still had the full day to do whatever you wished. Allen's Tours do not tolerate abusive threatening behaviour or foul language against our staff and nor does anyone else in Northern Ireland.

Negative experience: Wouldn't recommend this company. The coach was very old and not modern. Upon boarding this morning the driver drove off before we were even safely seated let alone had chance to buckle up. The driver was incredibly anti national trust and made this obvious at every opportunity. There were several stops and found by the time we reached giants causeway we were ready to come back as the route going is very bumpy to the point the driver asked if anyone had been sick yet. This was a very long day and not the best way to see Giants Causeway. Also take your own lunch as they stop at a sponsored hotel for 1 hour 15 mins for a buffet lunch at almost £14 per head but after the bumpy roads this would have been the last thing I felt like eating.

Allen's Tours

The photograph that you have shown does not show an old coach but we will just accept you know nothing about coaches. You have mentioned that the driver is anti National Trust - we are all anti- National Trust, maybe you work for the national distrust. We are sorry you are so precious and that you believe Ireland is like Disneyland, Ireland is famous for having bumpy roads as they were not built as part of a theme park. Regarding lunch, there was more than one place you could have eaten and £14.00 for a buffet is not expensive in the current economic climate.

Fantastic experience: I did the Giants Cause Way and Game of Thrones tour. Lindsey, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and quite funny. I would highly recommend doing this tour to anyone who wants to see some sights out of the city. You see a lot more thank you think you will. It is well worth it, and the place you stop at for lunch at The Hedge is lush and very well priced for what you get.

Negative experience: ...if the stars existed in negative, they would be -5. Let's start with the old, smelly transport with a manual transmission, with every gear change risking whiplash. The excursion covers the entire day with three total stops and it is pleasant in itself if it weren't for a rude and arrogant driver. During the lunch stop (let's not even talk about the quality of the food), we were delayed by one minute, and he left us behind, making us wait for 30 minutes while three of us were cursing. The excursion is nice, but they need to change jobs. GO TO THE COMPETITION, it will surely be better.

The bus you were on was an automatic bus and you were late back to the bus and therefore the other passengers were disadvantaged by your lateness. When the bus driver returned to pick you up you were rude to him and therefore this review is not really accurate. You would not be late for your plane!

Negative experience: I'm really sorry to give a one star review, we had great expectations for the GoT & Giants Causeway tour. Everything was badly organized, especially the GoT part: most of the places were shown from the bus. There was a useless 10 mins stop for seeing a castle from the outside, a bit more than a 1 hour stop for letting us eat (badly) at a sponsored hotel with basically no time to wander around a bit and enjoy Dark Edges. A 90 mins stop at the Giants Causeway is just not enough time. The driver was rude, he left us at the parking of the hotel because we were less than one minute late; we called the agency and he had to come back and pick us up. That was embarassing for us, but especially for him and the tour operator, it took precious time away from a tour that was badly organized already.

Fantastic experience: We did the Game of Thrones + Giant's Causeway tour in English. The driver, who also serves as a guide, made the trip much more enjoyable, in addition to explaining with anecdotes, jokes, and historical reviews the intricacies of the places. Totally recommendable if you have an acceptable level of English.

Fantastic experience: Totally recommended, I tried other tour agencies but this is definitely my favorite. The driver has a lot of knowledge and explains clearly the whole history and the places that are visited, he took us to a restaurant where the food was excellent. However, you must wear good footwear and carry water because it is a tour where you walk quite a bit, especially at 'Giant Causeway', and keep in mind that there is not much time between places, so if you want to make the most of it, you will have to speed up. I highly recommend it for families as well!

Positive experience: Our bus had technical issue on return journey and we all (26)were held up for 1-2 hrs in late evening hours, half an hour away from Belfast city,it was chilling cold outside but the vehicle was kept on n warm till the owner brought another bus and dropped each one to our places of stay, that was generous and needs a mention. Our driver spoke on the whole way till we reached causeway, but on return journey he never uttered a word felt strange!

Helena Gassull 1 year ago

Negative experience: We had an awful experience, I don’t understand the good reviews. The guide we had only commented for the first hour and then didn’t say anything else at all. Very old bus with no USB connection nor a working bathroom, which is awful for an 9h drive. Plus I left a bad review and they were unable to accept it and were really rude to me. Better invest in a more expensive but better tour.

gill campbell 1 year ago

Positive experience: It would have been useful to make passengers aware prior to booking that the pathway down to the causeway is long and steep and not accessible to all. There is a shuttle bus but apparently does not run everyday???. It was disappointing to travel but then view the causeway

T Dey 1 year ago

Negative experience: The overall tour was fine. The only complaint I am having that they are not providing any seat preference who booked earlier online rather than those who onboarded the bus from their office.

Allen's Tours

Most of our visitors book online and most start at the office. It is recommended that you arrive at 9.15 to the office to board the bus.

Maryam 1 year ago

Negative experience: I would give zero stars if I could, tour guides very inappropriate! Both men were hassling us as we were waiting for the public bus to giant causeway. They made us feel very uncomfortable and would not get the hint to leave us alone. Was considering using them before deciding to go on a self guided tour so glad we never booked!!! No matter how much they want to attract more business hassling people on the street should not be the way! Shameful!

Boroda 1 year ago

Positive experience: The driver/guide was a great guy and it was interesting to learn some history from his stories. The bus itself is the worst place you want to be if you might experience travel sickness. So consider it if you plan to dive into this tour.

Olubukola Ayodele 1 year ago

Negative experience: The staff are quite rude and very rigid. There were 2 buses allocated to go to the Giant Causeway, my partner and I wanted to wait for the second bus so that we could sit together as only single seats were remaining but we were forced to get on the bus and ended up sitting far away from each which really ruined the experience for us. Not fair after paying all that money.

My world 1 year ago

Negative experience: Very bad behaviour from the staff member. I had booked for a day excursion and arrived at their office bit earlier as we travelled from Liverpool. The guy at the office behaved very badly. It was 8 in the morning and he was not willing to let us wait at the lobby even though I was travelling with my little kids. He asked me to come back at 0915 and asked us to leave. Not a professional way to deal with customers. When the journey started driver was suggesting us to keep our 8 and 5 year old girls on our knees so that they can accommodate two more people, for which I politely said no as I already paid for their ticket.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend Allen’s bus tours enough! Ben was an incredible tour guide with captivating story telling, vast knowledge and great one liners that had the entire coach completely enchanted and filled with joy and laughter. We learned so much on this tour and have a much bigger appreciation for Irish history and the current climate in Ireland. We learned so much about a secret civil war that held much more complex history than we could’ve imagined. Bens tour also took us to giants causeway and it was beautiful from every direction! Mountains, massive ocean waves, stunning blue waters I thought only existed in the carribean, and of course the fascinating rock formations made by volcano or legendary giant (you can decide which)! This tour was incredible and we highly recommend booking with Allen’s tours and requesting Ben by name!

Ebru Turhan 1 year ago

Negative experience: Having travelled to more than 70 countries, this has been the rudest tour driver/guide I have ever encountered. After having entered the bus, I started to talk to my friend in a low voice. Lindsay, "world's rudest driver" came to our seats and shouted at me "They don't let you into the house, right?". I said: "Come again, what do you mean?". He repeated: "They don't let you into the house, right?". I said: "I don't understand what you mean". Linsday: "You are talking all the time. I am sure you are not allowed into the house!!!!" This has been the rudest and sexist driver I have ever seen. And then he said to all customers via microphone "Customers are NOT allowed to talk throughout the trip (8 hours!) in the bus!!!" Just crazy!!.... Meanwhile, the driver did not stop talking for 3 hours!!!!! That was really crazy. There was not even 1 second of silence in the bus to enjoy the scenery. I have never experienced such a tour and behaviour... Run away from this tour company!....

Allen's Tours

As this is a guided tour and the driver has the other passengers on the tour need to listen to what is being said, the driver was asking in a joking manner to encourage you to listen to the information. He would not say that the passengers are not allowed to talk for 8 hours and he does not talk the entire time that the people are on tour.

Negative experience: Would not book with Allen’s unless you want to gamble. We booked a Giant’s Causeway tour and turns out that they had overbooked the tour, so we were standing outside waiting for a bus that never came because it was too full for us. They offered to take us out the next day but this was our last day in Belfast so we couldn’t rebook to another day. They offered us a refund but didn’t try and do anything like get us on another tour that day or anything so we were out of luck. Incredibly disappointing.

Avital Stahl 1 year ago

Negative experience: We had an AWFUL experience with this company. Booked through the companies website midday the previous day to the tour. Arrived at 9:00 for the tour and were told they'd overbooked and to wait there to see if there were no shows. The staff and especially the owner were smug, entitled and not even slightly apologetic. When i expressed my displeasure the owner told me I "best not argue with him" because "he is the owner". Eventually they had their (to be fair, very lovely) guide show us to the public bus to giants causeway, but that was it. Do not book with this company if you actually want a tour

Arjelyn Jose 1 year ago

Positive experience: The trip itself was okay, worth what I had paid for. We covered a lot of attractions in one day. Weather though was not on our side during this tour. It rained twice (during the visit in Dark Hedges and Giant’s Causeway). Wear waterproof clothing, as umbrella won’t suffice! It was windy as well so raincoats would be better.
