Orwell Lady River Trips

Positive experience: An enjoyable trip with a friendly welcome on board by a pleasant young man.But it was a little disappointing as I thought we would go a bit further up the river before returning although I understand it was not possible due to a leaking lock gate problem so that couldn't be helped and not a criticism of the trip itself. The skipper mentioned a few places en route but the commentary was as as much about himself as a pilot, his career and much moaning about the lock keeper as the scenery.It was amusing at first but became a little wearing after a while.Maybe he was just having a bad day! Also to offer some feedback... it would have been helpful if the welcome introduction had included mentioning that there was snack bar and location of the toilet.Although I was aware there was a snack bar,as it wasn't mentioned I presumed it wasn't open.Another passenger told me where the loo was! But on the whole,a pleasant trip

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful afternoon on the afternoon tea trip. The tea was lovely and more than enough to satisfy your appetite. The staff were very pleasant and very helpful to our group. Especially to me as being in a wheelchair they couldn't have done any more to make the trip so delightful we will definitely be back.

Fantastic experience: Went on a 2 hour boat trip to pin mill and back and was honestly a great time! Food and drinks served on boat. Plenty of space up and below deck. Lovely crew members who were very informative about the surroundings. Took our 2 year old child who thoroughly enjoyed it! Only thing I would say is it’s a little quiet on the way back as all the information was on the trip there but honestly can’t fault it. Definitely will go again! Worth it! :-)

Fantastic experience: Brilliant evening on the summer disco evening. We had 3 bdays 30th 40th and 50th. And what a brilliant way of spending it. The whole group loved it and now we want to make it our company annual outing every year. Great little buffet small but good choice of drinks.Great music and lovely sunset to top it all off. Awsome friendly happy chatty barlady aswell and a captain who had some chat and banter. Only fault is it was only 3 hours would have loved 1 more I do wonder if you have ever had better dressed guests? Can't wait to be back.

Fantastic experience: Had a lovely afternoon sail from Ipswich Quays to Felixstowe and Harwich and back again. Skipper commentary was about Orwell River, and the surrounding area was excellent.There were snacks and drinks on board to buy to go on your journey. Staff were friendly and helpful

Fantastic experience: I booked the 3 1/2 hour round trip to Harwich Harbour as a day out with my folks who were down for a visit. Absolutely brilliant! The commentary was really informative and the boat is perfect with the option of the upper, outside, deck or the inside cabin with a bar and padded bench seats. Both have fabulous views so we did top deck on way it and below deck for return. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: We just turned up and did a walk on, no fuss was welcomed on board. well worth the money, good knowledge of the water ways and even had a beer while enjoying the lovely weather on the trip. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Beautiful weather, good greeting from Dave, the captain. 3.5hr cruise. Upstairs seating is very hard, and even tho Dave gave out cushions, they were very thin, I would advise people to take their own thick cushions to sit on. After about an hour and a half I popped downstairs to see Carl and get a cuppa, the seats downstairs were lovely and soft, so I stayed down there. You could still here the commentary from Dave, which was informative. My wife came down for a while then went back up as she prefers to be up top, I joined her for the last 30 mins or so. Only down side was a couple of women sitting behind us, obviously had a few bevvies before boarding, and were drinking on board, very loud and being stupid, like drunk people are. Apart from that, we'll worth the money, we would do it again, this time with our own cushions. 10/10

Positive experience: Lovely boat nice cruises good staff bit pricey but worth the visit.

Negative experience: Our plan was to take a trip, however it was very restrictive on the website and booking wasn't easy.

Fantastic experience: I booked the 3.5 hour cruise for my wifes birthday on Friday 4th August. It was a lovely cruise and she said she really enjoyed it. The commentary the skipper gave us was very informative and jovial. It was also nice to have the downstairs internal area when it rained

Positive experience: Lovely trip and very informative. Shame the information wasn't split so that some of it was on the return journey. Apart from that would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Great afternoon sail from Ipswich Quays to Felixstowe and Harwich and back again. Interesting commentary on the way out explaining all the must-see sights! 3.5 hours flew past extremely quickly on a cloudy but otherwise warm day. Beverages on board politely served in the big cabin below by pleasant crew. It would be handy if weather changed for the worse!

Fantastic experience: Booked the three and half hour trip to Felixstowe and Harwich on a bright sunny warm afternoon. The commentary on the river and surrounding areas was very well presented and interesting. Clean and tidy boat with large selection of drinks and snacks on board. Had a thoroughly great afternoon. Would recommend a trip to anyone looking for a layer back relaxing afternoon.

Positive experience: Great day out on the picturesque Orwell River -- well-organised and comfortable boat ideal for families. Interesting commentary on the stunning scenery. One niggle was that the harbour master kept the boat waiting in the sun for over an hour from the appointed embarkation time in order to let a variety of large pleasure boats of the wealthy through the lock first! Clearly not a socialist!!

Fantastic experience: My son and I were in the UK visiting my Mum for the first time in three years, and we wanted to spoil her with a river cruise. I had done this cruise with her twenty years ago, so it was the obvious option. We unfortunately picked a day of steady rain, but this only dampened our spirits a little. There is so much to see, and the informative commentary was most entertaining. Despite being below decks, the trip wasn't crowded and we could see everything. I also learned some interesting facts about the area. I would highly recommend this cruise, it's a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Positive experience: Lovely trip and great food, just be aware you are in very very close proximity with strangers for the whole trip, not much spacing allowed, especially whilst dining!

Negative experience: Might have been great. But they rang to cancel the cruise while we were waiting on the quay. After paying for the parking. Apparently a starter motor failure.About 25 other customers waiting.

Fantastic experience: Dress for the weather. Very interesting trip. Good commentary and information about the Marina, dock, bridge and Freston Folly. Very good views of the Peregrine Falcon chicks. Shame the weather was cloudy and cold. We will definitely go again, hopefully when the sun is shining. Highly recommended.
