Positive experience: Went trip to Donegal and stayed at the Central Hotel Hotel was lovely, great food and lovely staff, only problem we had was fire alarm going off early morning on our day of departure. Had a lovely host on the bus called Diane who was so helpful and friendly. Very helpful with guests requests and tries to suit guests needs. Trips on Water bus are recommended they are lovely and enjoyable. If I could make a suggestion that we were not impressed with trip to Letterkenny as not much to see or do there so maybe change to some other place. But our whole experience was really enjoyable on this trip, it was my first one so was impressed. Met lots of nice folk on the bus and made some real friends. Thanks to Diane for making it so enjoyable and also recommend you visit local Irish pubs they are great. Many thanks Ellen x

Negative experience: Absolutely awful booked for waverley cruise was cancelled complete rip off
We are very sorry that you were unable to sail on the Waverley, due to the ship having technical problems. Unfortunately, we were unaware that there was an issue until our coaches arrived at the embarkation point. Staff from the Waverley had emailed our office to advise us of this malfunction. However, their email was sent just before 6pm the night before, by which point our staff had left for the day. When we were made aware that the Waverley would not be sailing, we did not want our valued customers to be further disappointed. We therefore arranged for customers to sail aboard the CalMac ferry to Rothesay so that you could still enjoy a day out, complete with an island tour and lunch. Nonetheless, please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment. Due to this amendment to your day out, we have already written to all customers offering a partial refund. If you have not received this letter, please telephone our office on 08000 24 24 24.

Fantastic experience: Surprising, entertaining and value for money. Travelled to Donegal, from Dunfermline by coach, and Stena fast cat. Tour guide Moira and driver Darren, both were fun and caring. Stayed at the Central Hotel great food, lovely staff, with spacious rooms. 5 days, wanted more !!! Thankyou I will be back M

Positive experience: Just returned from Holland in Bloom very disappointed , would have been good to have had more time to explore the gardens 2hous is not enough to see even a fraction of what there is, same for the other locations we visited, 45 minute and 35 minutes in Volendam this was a waste of time and coach a long way from the town .Food on board was take it or leave it, not my greatest experience, you need to look at timings maybe miss lunch so we get to see more of the country, TOO much time wasted

Negative experience: Stonehaven fireball Hogmanay booked at Peterhead Waterside hotel. Glenton changed hotel to Holiday Inn Aberdeen West but on enquiring was assured there would be entertainment. Letter stated all other aspects of holiday will remain the same. Entertainment non existent and hotel in middle of housing estate. Restaurant bar closed at 9pm on 1st January!!

Fantastic experience: Enjoyed my trip to Llandudno on 11Sep. 2nd tour with Glenton. Bit of a problem on the Wednesday but didn't impact on my holiday as it was a free day in town. Coach was not a Glenton Select on way down to Llandudno but was quite comfortable and came back home to a refund because of that. A great guide for trip to Caernarvon and Beaumaris.

Negative experience: Just back from Cardiff last week very disappointed in Glenton .This is my third holiday with them .Enjoyed the other two but not this one .Cardiff was amazing.The bus and driver were not .The most uncomfortable bus too cramped for a long journey.Trips were not good.Everything in Cardiff is free we made our own entertainment rather than take the bus tours which I was told were not good.Dinner in hotel was too late 7.30 .I would have preferred earlier.On the whole the hotel and Cardiff was first class .Glenton you have let me down on your bus service and trips .
Positive experience: Loved the Isle of Wight holiday. The Ocean View Hotel in Shanklin was comfortable. Had lovely views from the balcony. The staff were wonderful & food was lovely, well done to them all. They made the holiday that bit more enjoyable. The included day trips were a very nice & enjoyable part of the holiday. Our driver Darren was a very pleasant, friendly young man & kept everyone up to date with information. He went above & beyond 2 ensure that everyone was having a nice time & more. It was hard 2 say goodbye 2 him & all of the lovely friendly people we met on that coach holiday. Such a shame that i could not give 5 stars but that was due to being let down with the coach that we wer travelling on. My sister & i had bookd the Select Holiday to enable us 2 have the comfort of travelling by luxury coach from Dunfermilne to the Isle of Wight, ( a long journey 2 b sitting rather uncomfortable for) with the added extra of the Select Welcome pack but we didnt get either of these. Having said that i would still book another Select Holiday with Glenton as the holiday itself was absolutely lovely.

Positive experience: Just back yesterday from the 5 days Coach trip. Rail trips and scenic boat trip. The hotel was clean,lovely food, staff and driver of bus were really great could not fault them but disappointed with the rail trips, on the Strathspey Railway no commentary about it. Then the trip to Mallaig thought it was the Steam Train but it was the diesel train which was a big disappointment never even seen the viaduct would have been better going to Glenfinnan and watching it from the road. Then the hotel bar closed at 10 pm thought hotels stayed open to residents and no entertainment until the Sunday night. The cruise on Loch Linnhe was excellent .On the whole quite disappointed.

Positive experience: Just back from Llandudno had a pleasant journey home albeit it took 9hrs out journey was horrendous was picked up at [email protected] waited until 845am for the coach which turned out to be a school bus which needed a clean toilet was out of order(no water) from Perth to Falkirk the driver David rather than take the motorway took along B roads through Kelty and another villages.When we eventually picked everyone up after several delays we arrived in Gretna for tea and scone @2pm.Another detour was taken on the outskirts of Chester and another through Colwyn Bay.we arrived at the Kensington @7pm and had to go straight to dinner.Lovely hotel comfortable friendly and good food. As l was visiting friends l cannot comment on the trips although the arrival of a SELECT coach was welcomed and Craig was a friendly and competent driver.

Negative experience: Just returned from a tour in Cornwall staying at the Barrowfield Hotel in Newquay. I didn’t have a problem with the room, it was ok. Can’t say the same for the food, it was absolutely disgusting, always luke warm and served on cold plates. Soup was cold and tasteless. Portions were small eg. 5 small pieces of scampi & what I can only describe as McDonalds chips. Smash was sometimes used instead of potatoes. Vegetables covered the plate then food put on top and covered with gravy, not everyone wants their dinner soaked in gravy. Fried eggs were undercooked. I could go on. Some people chose to eat out, which is unacceptable considering food was included in cost of holiday. I was extremely disappointed in this hotel I expected better from Glenton. The trips were OK. The driver was excellent, very helpful and informative. Not sure if I will travel with Glenton again after this experience. I have only given one star, I’d give it less if I could.

Fantastic experience: Done 2 tours with Glenton Holidays this year so far. North Coast 500 - coach tour and Jersey by Air. Good hotels at great locations, Easy to book either online or by telephone. ABTA and ATOL protected company. Had a brilliant time, met some lovely people. Will definitely book again with the company in the near future.

Fantastic experience: Firstly, I have to say I have never had the pleasure of being on one of Glenton Holidays trips. However, recently, while at work in Chester I met a lovely couple, John and Anne from Ayr. They were visiting the city on a day trip whilst on holiday in Llandudno in North Wales with Glenton Holidays. Sadly, they had had a little bad luck and John had taken a nasty fall outside our restaurant. John was left a little worse for ware and in need of a few stitches at the local hospital. - Anne, John's amazing wife was a little shaken up to say the least, and having no battery left on her phone had no way of contacting her group, organisers or driver. I helped them both contact Glenton Holidays to update them on their situation, and help them make arrangements to get back to their hotel. I just wanted to say, the ladies in the office in Glasgow were fantastic! I spoke with a lady called Claire who couldn't do enough to ensure John and Anne were safe and looked after. They contacted their group and friends and ensured they got back to their hotel safely and stress free. Despite missing the coach. I felt they were both in the safest of hands and truly cared for. Amazing customer care and Claire from Glasgow office.. You're amazing. Send my love to John and Anne.

Fantastic experience: We visited Dumfries House on Friday which was utterly breathtaking, however the visit wasn't long enough,we would have loved to see the magnificent gardens.Included on the day trip was a visit to Troon,however as a howling gale was blowing we were glad to get back on the bus.More time at Dumfries House and much less in Troon would have been better.The driver understood that the visitor centre selling plants wasn't open but it was,we had a fleeting visit there and managed to buy plants and books,All in all a great day out.

Fantastic experience: Just returned 7day Irish tour Sligo, Cork and Dublin once again another excellent holiday, good hotels and with the best coach driver ever, every day at meal times he shared different tables from breakfast, lunches and evening meals he mixed with everyone, if he saw something not quite right he alerted hotel staff and had any issues quickly resolved. On excursions it was not the case of dropping us off he would join us on visiting the attractions. Many thanks to our Driver (Robert) for making this a most memorable holiday.

Negative experience: Incredibly disappointed in this company. My Mum & Dad booked from Inverurie to Cornwall. They arrived in Newquay to discover no evening meal was available (despite being detailed on the itinerary). The itinerary provided said there was a trip to St Ives & Carbis Bay however they got 2 hours in St Ives then pushed on to Penzance. Then the second trip was not as advertised either?! The hotel was quite honestly a disgrace. My sister asked for my Mum to be in a low floor as she has reduced mobility. They put her on the highest floor furthest from reception. The lift broke leaving her with no option but to eat her evening meals in the room. There was only 1 window operational & the weather was incredibly warm. A fan was provided but still not sufficient. This hotel is quite honestly tired & in dire need of a makeover. You advertise this holiday as 9 days yet my Mum & Dad paid over £500 each for 6 days - daylight robbery!

I very much regret that your parents were disappointed with their holiday, and I shall address the issues you cite.With regard to dinner not being provided on the first evening, this was due to an uncharacteristic contractual error. However, all passengers were advised to make their own dining arrangements, and to keep their receipts for up to £20 per person. If your Mum and Dad would like to contact us directly regarding this matter, we would be more than happy to reimburse them for this meal.Referring to the itinerary, our advertisement for this holiday clearly states that holidaymakers will visit St Ives before moving on to Penzance. You say that the second trip wasn’t as advertised either, but don’t give any further detail. I also note that you also say this holiday was advertised as a nine-day tour, and that your parents only had six days. I think you must be looking at the wrong tour itinerary. We do have a nine-day holiday in our summer brochure and on our website. However, the nine-day tour only has joining points in and around the central belt and does not include a pickup at Inverurie. If your parents joined the coach at Inverurie, they were on the seven day / six night leisurely pace tour which features overnight rest stops in the Midlands on both outward and return journeys – therefore, four nights in Newquay.As regards the hotel in Cornwall, as rooms are allocated by hotel staff, most accommodation requests are unguaranteed. Nonetheless, I am very sorry that your parents were allocated a high floor room. You don’t say whether or not they enquired about a change of room to a lower floor. It is always worth asking as hotel management will try to accommodate where possible. It is most unfortunate that the lift malfunctioned while your Mum and Dad were staying there. This was clearly unforeseeable and, regrettably, beyond Glenton’s control – as was the very warm weather.Once again, I am very sorry that some aspects of this tour did not meet your parents expectations. Fantastic experience: Just returned from Bronte and York tour. Terry, the coach driver was excellent. He was friendly, professional and very patient. Nancy our hostess was lovely. She has excellent people skills and is very warm. Jury's Inn Bradford was excellent. Great accommodation and delicious food. Very welcoming staff. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday and am already booked again with Glenton.

Fantastic experience: Just back from the Isle of Man coach tour. Our first ever tour and wont be our last with Glenton . From the booking to the actual tour, great staff. Stevie our coach driver was fabulous at looking after us and he gets an A for his driving skills in some of the roads on the isle.

We are very sorry that some aspects of your tour did not meet your expectations.We note the point you make about the Talbot Hotel not being suitable for guests with mobility problems, as it does not have a lift. We use symbols in our brochures and on our website to indicate what facilities are available in our hotels, and the Talbot Hotel description clearly shows a lift crossed out – indicating that there is no lift in the hotel. Furthermore, I have looked at your booking and we have not been advised of any mobility issues. At Glenton, we welcome customers with health considerations and disabilities. However, it is important that we have details of the full extent of passengers’ needs in order that we can advise on the suitability of different tours and hotels.With regard to the availability of staff to carry your luggage, we do not advertise porterage as it is not always available – particular in recent times with strict Covid protocols in place.Referring to the shower room requiring a key, I can see from the notes on the booking that the lead passenger was advised of this procedure at the time of booking. Finally, I am sorry you were disappointed with the choices available at breakfast and we will pass this feedback to the hotel.We feature a wide variety of hotels in our brochures from four star properties, some from well-known chains such as Warner Leisure, to our family run properties, amenities vary between different properties and this is often reflected in the price of the holiday. We have been using the Talbot Hotel for many years and, generally, it receives very favourable feedback. While we are sorry for any disappointment, this holiday is advertised in our brochure for £249 for a September five day dinner, bed & breakfast holiday in the heart of Southport, with return travel from Scotland and excursions to Chester and Blackpool. Negative experience: Holiday was not as booked. We booked a 4 star Select coach holiday to Peak District staying in a peaceful country hotel. We were located in an allegedly 4 star city hotel situated above a bus station and next to a busy junction. The noise was horrendous and sleep impossible. Food was cheap and nasty , so bad we gave up eating in hotel and went to nearest Wotherspoons where the food was far superior ( never thought I would write that). The hotel was not clean with food waste lying in corridor for more than 24 hours, carpets needed hoovered and hard flooring was stained. Air conditioning did not work so room was unpleasant. We had booked a horse drawn canal cruise but there was no horse , it had retired in 2020. We were supposed to get a tour of a cotton mill museum but it was closed due to Covid. However the Arkwright mill museum next to the canal was open so this could easily have been rearranged. Despite several of our group complaining nothing was done. I sent 2 emails during our stay regarding the food quality and have not received any response. This holiday was not even worth 2 stars let alone 4. Would recommend you book with another company. Despite the fact the company have said, below in comments, I have received a full response to my complaint the only response I have had was on 3/8/21 saying they would respond within 28 days. It is 28/8/21 so they still have 3 days but I'm not holding my breath.

Negative experience: I have been trying since Monday to book a holiday with Glenton, I had a couple of things that needed to be confirmed ( has the Hotel got a lift ?, was there a Supplement to pay because one of the rooms would be for a single person) I phoned yesterday morning again and the girl I spoke to said she would check things out for me and phone me in the afternoon, surprise surprise, no phone call. I thought perhaps if she had been having a bit of trouble she would have called today, still nothing !!! I will now be looking elsewhere for a holiday. Positive experience: Just returned from our 1st couch trip to Fort William with trips to Oban, Glencoe and a trip on the Jacobite Stream Train. Let’s start with the 1st trip, Oban and Glencoe, the driver told us we would be stopping at Glencoe Village for 1hr, nothing there - total waste of time, Oban was great, would have rather have spend the extra hour there! The trip in the Jacobite Steam train was a bit disjointed, the driver took us to our prebooked carriage, and basically left us, it was only when other passengers started turned it up tell us we where actually sitting in their pre-booked seat we realised we where in the wrong seats! Total nightmare, and we didn’t have the same seats coming back either- even with COVID still around I would say this was very silly! The hotel was ok, the rooms a bit grubby, our room carpet was filthy, with boot prints all over the floor, the restaurant was very disorganised, our table even got forgotten about on a few occasions and we had to send a few meals back, the hotel was quite full and most of the staff were new so I can see why it’s was like this, now let me tell you about our driver, sat drinking every night with the guests till 11 o’clock or later, even brought his own case of beer with him because the hotels prices where to expensive, not a great advert for the company and knowing he was driving us on a coach the next day did not fill me with confidence, the whole point of me booking a coach holiday was so I could relax and have a few drinks in the evening and not worry about driving the next day, now my last point, and by far the most concerning for me, our pick up point was Paisley 6.30am, Fort William is a 4-5 hr journey at most and that’s with a break, it was after 4pm before we reached the hotel in Fort William, we picked up in Glasgow City, Hamilton, Bathgate, Edinburgh and finally Dunfermline, being a driver I know that’s a very long way out the road for a 4hr trip! We did stop twice but again this was very disorganised, the driver phoned a few places enroute but they wouldn’t accept coach parties, in my opinion this should have been pre arranged, the journey was that bad that a few passengers got off the bus and made their own way to the hotel, and the journey home lost a few also, opting to pay for the return journey with another bus company, will definitely not book with Glenton again if this is their policy

Unfortunately, the driver has to leave you to board the train, as he/she then has to drive the coach to meet up with you at Mallaig. We are sorry to hear your comments concerning the housekeeping at your hotel. This is the only negative feedback we have received and we trust you raised these issues with hotel staff at the time. We were very concerned to read your comments relating to your driver and we have discussed these matters with him and his employer, the driver does refute these allegations, so we can only assume that there has been a misunderstanding here. Finally, with regard to the pickup route, we offer a variety of routes and these are detailed in our brochure – alternatively, our reservations staff would be pleased to advise. Negative experience: In a hotel that is nothing like the review online. Food inedable, no bar, no entertainment. Open your window and see bars on it, and your looking at a brick wall. Had to ask for another room. It's called 4Dreams Hotel, more like 4nightmare hotel. Think this might be my last holiday with Glenton, really going downhill. £800.00 and have to eat out.

Negative experience: Terrible service from their office. just come back from an excellent holiday with them but their office is awful. Their office has no idea about professional customer service or administration. Had to chase multiple times for everything. Flora in particular was very rude. We'll never holiday with Glenton again because of their incompetent office staff.
Positive experience: The tour coach was excellent as was the driver on out holiday to the Isle of Wight the only problems we had was with the hotel which was not what was showen on the web our room was just basic no were to put cases heating could not be turned down bathroom radiator did not work but water ran though it all the time our departure was changed to please the hotel so we were running behind time and delayed with traffic all the way up to Scotland . We would use the company again but not to the south of England .

Fantastic experience: Just returned from Montecatini Terme. The resort was so much more than I had originally thought. Our hotel (Miro) was lovely and the staff helpful and friendly. Our Tour Manager (Jim) was absolutely wonderful and it was not one if his easiest weeks. He remained cheery and helpful throughout. A big thank you to him. I did feel that the two excursions to Pisa and Lucca on the same day were a bit rushed. After our guides had finished their talks we had very little time to do our own thing. I think this would have been better as two separate half day trips but all in all a great holiday.

Positive experience: I phone Glenton last Sunday and was promised a return call. Still Waiting the following Wednesday, and okay Monday was a bank holiday, but they don't seem to be anything like as well organised as they used to be. We have travelled with them on two previous occasions and were completely satisfied both times, but the current attitude of booking staff doesn't bode well. Too many excuses and not enough action.
Positive experience: Having just returned from ' Rhine in flames, tour I cannot praise the holiday enough. The coach driver Alan was first class as was the accommodation, The Lamm Hotel .I would have given the tour a five star rating but for the lunch stop on the way home. The food produced by The Jedburgh Woolen Mill fell way below the standard we had come to expect from Glenton.
Negative experience: Feedback on Glenton Select 5 day Coach Holiday; Glasgow – Donegal 22 Sep 2013. Positives:- Comfortable Coach; Radisson Blu hotel room and breakfast, good standard; Excursions to Derry and Doagh Famine Village are well worth a visit, good guides on both trips. The musical entertainment was good but the bar venue was inappropriate. Negatives:- Coach toilet was out of action due to a water leakage. We were warned that the water was leaking into the luggage area! After an unscheduled second coffee stop we missed the 13.30 ferry and lost 2hours! Poor coach driver attitude throughout the trip. Dinners in the Radisson Blu hotel were of a low standard (after two nights we decided to eat out). Our Derry tour guide had not been pre-booked! We were scheduled to tour the Inishowen peninsula – Grianan of Aileach Burt, Bocan Stone Circle instead we were dropped off in Buncrana for an hour. If this is a Glenton Select tour I wouldn’t want to see one of the “Cooncil hoose tours” the driver repeatedly referred too! At £360 pp. this is a moderately expensive very mediocre holiday I would not recommend. Unfortunately for us a few thoughtful adjustments would have very much improved our holiday experience. Our fellow travellers were a great bunch:). Bill Davis Glenton response to Mr Davis email. I have had a word with the driver and he has explained to me regarding the following points. Coach toilet and missing the ferry:there was a leak In the pipework behind the toilet and an additional stop was made to rectify this. The arrival time at Cairnryan was 12.45 for a 13.30 sailing; however, this sailing time was changed to 13.00 and we weren’t notified of this. I am in the process of dealing with P&O regarding this change to make sure this cannot happen again. Derry tour guide not pre-booked: I have checked this with our operations department and the guide was pre booked but got his days mixed up. As soon as the driver had made them aware the guide made alternative arrangements to get the tour covered. We were scheduled to tour the Inishowen peninsula: the inishowen peninsula is a lovely scenic drive, however there are not a lot of places to stop which would cater for our clients. I personally am very familiar with this area and I know the difficulties drivers face when touring this part of Ireland. We suggest that the driver stops in Buncrana to allow people off the coach then we take them to the Doagh Isle famine village to spend some time. The places mentioned are for information only in the brochure text. Poor coach driver attitude throughout the trip:I am very surprised about this comment, as he is a very well liked driver who has had excellent feedback throughout the season. I have mentioned this to him and have emphasised that the expression "Cooncil Hoose Tours" should not be used.
